Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Problem Pop up

Max finished cleaning his home and the bell rang. Max went and opened his door and found Luna with her luggage and a butler behind her. "What is going on?" Max asked as Luna stepped in excitedly. "Well, Ms. Ryukyu heard that you are immune to her niece's effect. She will like you to let Luna live with you for a bit. Your mother has given us permission" The butler said as he put Luna's luggage in. "I bet my mom wasn't even paying attention and just said yes to everything" Max said as he helped. "Yes, she did," The butler said as he left. Max moved all of Luna's stuff in a spare room across from his and saw Luna excitedly passing a metal orb between her hands. She played with it for a bit and then noticed Max staring and she blushed. "Sorry, I'm just excited that nothing is freezing in the air when I don't focus," Luna said as she put the ball down. "Well ya, every item that goes through the door enters a null point. The null point makes most objects immune to magic or laws. My mother put it there because I blew up too many of her plates and vases when I was learning magic. I'll order a pizza since I have no food in the kitchen at the moment" Max said as he pulled up his phone and looked into his account. Max's eyes went wide and his jaw dropped. "Why do I have an extra $10,000 in my account?" Max said. "Oh, my mother is the CEO of the overseas company called 'Beam Teck.' She must have paid you for taking me in" Luna said. "Weird, my mother works overseas at a company. Anyway I'll order a large pepperoni pizza" Max said as he ordered a pizza and put on a movie. "Thanks for taking me. It's nice to not have to worry about freezing something constantly" Luna said as she sat and watched. "Ya, sadly the Null point is not something me or my mother can open anywhere. And it doesn't work on stuff that moves like creatures and people" Max said as he sat down as well. "It's fine, I'm glad I can feel comfortable and safe here," Luna said. "You know, I have an experimental item I'm working on that I made to fix anomalies. Now, your law is probably the most complicated one so it might not work but it's worth a shot" Max said as he ran to his room and came out with a silver watch with wires and glowing letters on it. Max put it on Luna's wrist and the face started glowing and working. "It might just wor-" Max started to say before it turned off with smoke coming from it. "My bad" Luna said as she took it off. "It's fine, this was a prototype anyway. I can't really tell what went wrong. It could have been too much energy going in or the storage overflowing, or the magic burnout, it could be multiple things" Max said as he took a look. "I'll try again. Until then enjoy being able to relax without constantly needing to shut your quirk. The pizza should be here shortly" Max said. "Isn't your mom super powerful? Why don't you get paid or haven't heard of your mom?" Lena asked to strike up a conversation. "My mom's hero name is ''Magic hero: Queen of Salvation' she was very powerful and still is but a mishap happened a few years ago when she tried to dabble in negative magic. She became the host of sloth as she releases sin spirits. Luckily she can suppress the spirit enough to prevent it from taking over but she can't fully negate the effects so she is lazy most of the time. She is so lazy that when she gives me money it's always random. Sometimes she will give me thousands and others only $20" Max said. "Wow, that's something" Luna said as the bell rang for Pizza. Max got it and they were enjoying the pizza and movie. They were getting closer than Max would have thought. Max heard a knock on the door. Max opened the door and saw Bryce. "What do you want?" Max asked. "I require assistance with a…experiment. I need something that I'm pretty sure you have." Bryce said. 'Depends on what kind of experiment and what you need" Max said. "Mind if i take a seat this might take a bit to explain." Bryce said."Um, I have a guest so let's talk in my office" Max said as he led Bryce into his office down the hall that was filled with engineering and science equipment along with other things Bryce had not seen before."So, what do you need? And please don't try to use your quirk. We are at a Null point so the most that you can do is switch with your other soul" Max said as he sat in his fancy and comfortable chair. Bryce explained his studies, his studies, his ideas and his plan all to Max. "So you want to create an artificial soul to add to your asonal. I can do that but I need to know what you are looking for in the soul" Max said. "Well my first plan was to mix a bunch of stuff that make up the attributes of a soul, one item that I believe you have." Bryce said. "I can make you a soul no problem. My mother came across someone who had a similar quirk to yours. I just need to know what the soul is supposed to do to you? I can't add too much or i'll make a hole to hell" Max said as he got the basic stuff to modify and make a soul out. "Well I'm guessing you're referring to seraphine aren't you?" Bryce asked. "No clue, as I said my mother saw it, not me. I'll ask again, what do you need the soul to do" Max asked as he got a message from Luna asking where he went. Bryce pulled up a video of one of Seraphine's abilities being used. "Do you think you can give me a pumped up version of this?" Bryce asked. "I can make and put in a soul that will let you do that but I can't enhance it. Soul magic is tricky and one soul can not be much more powerful than the others or it will devour each other. I believe I have a bone dragon soul somewhere. Also I need your other half to be in the pilot seat when i inject it into your body" Max said as he took out a canister with a green fire inside and hooked it to the complex machine as he pushed a few buttons and flicked a few switches as the fire went through the machine several times as it was slowly separating into a liquid and energy. You won't be able to fully control it or gain a new soul for a few weeks to a couple of months until the soul stabilizes inside you. I need Chara or whatever you call that soul inside you that helps you to make this a cleaner transfer" Max said as he took out two needles connected to tubes, one connected to the energy and the other connected to the liquid. "Sorry Chara, this might hurt." Bryce said as he made Chara take control "Wait what are you talking about-" Chara said Max stabbed the tubs on opposite sides of their heart. "Want an anestezic? It will lessen the physical pain but not the spirit pain" Max asked. "Yes please." Chara said grunting in pain. Max sets up an IV and injects morphine into Chara. "It's kinda weird seeing a girl spirit inside my friend" Max said as he set up the machine for transfer. "Now here is a major warning. The brains of living things are made so it can build up a tolerance to pain. That's why things don't hurt as much the more often it happens. The soul has none of that. Your brain blocks 60% of the pain to protect itself but the soul doesn't. I will be injecting modified undead soul energy and liquid which will cause a soul horizon to happen since, like the human body, it fights when something forein tries to get in. You will feel pain beyond what you could have ever felt and there is nothing I can do to help as my soul magic is limited at this point in time. You can't go unconscious since it's your soul feeling the pain and not your body. Give me a thumbs up when you are ready" Max said as the machine was prepped. "I'm so sorry, '' Bryce said in his head. "I'm going to kick your ass after this Bryce" Chara replied as she gave Max a thumbs up. Max activated the machine which pumped the liquid and energy inside their heart and the energy and liquid clashed in the center of their heart as they fused and entered the soul space. The new artificial soul was attacked by spare spiritual energy from the other soul attributes and was holding its ground. This seemed like years and years of so much pain that Chara couldn't even move her soul form. The souls eventually settled and the pain was bearable. "You Chara can use the new soul for a full day until Bryce can. You will feel numb from the Morphine for a bit and I recommend rest for the both of you" Max said as he took out all the medical equipment and Chara realized only 20 seconds has passed. "Listen if you kill me you die too." Bryce said in a sweat. "Good point but I'm not gonna 'kill you'" Chara said with a smile. 'You know I can hear you two. Anyway, if you are planning on doing that take these after" Max said as he handed them a bottle of soul replenishing pills. "How the hell do you know so much? You know magic, science, medical. That's just a lot" Chara said. "I need to study a lot to use magic properly. I was forced to study all this. Now get out" Max said as he teleported them outside.
