Chapter 17 - Caught In The Act PRT. 1

Harmonica was busy getting some drinks for herself when her phone vibrated on the counter. She turned it over and spotted the caller was Jeffrey.

She hummed a bit and looked around, possibly for Erica. Satisfied, Harmonica picked the call

"Hello! Harmonica... " Jeffrey voice beamed through the phone. "Harmonica it me Jeffrey. "

"Hold up will ya.", she forced out. The music was very much loud enough to intercept their conversation which Harmonica thought.

The lady got up leaving the counter, moving to a corner where the music's wasn't that loud and bit okay to talk without any need of yelling.

"Now what the matter Jeff... you haven't called me ever since...", She sighed. "...you know."

"Where's Erica? "

"I was with her a while back... what happened? "

"Don't let her out of your sight. Stay with her till I get there. "

"Ugh?", Harmonica raised a brow. "What the matter with you?"

"No time for questions... just ...stay... with her... I will explain everything when I get there. Y'all at Nancy's house right? "

"Yeah.", She responded looking around.

"Alright good, am on my way. ", Jeffrey informed cutting the call.

Harmonica placed her apple phone in her her purse and headed out to look for Erica as Jeffrey instructed.

'' Heavens know what gotten into him. ''

As she surfed through the party animals, she was unable to spot Erica anywhere. She could have sworn she had seen Erica but she was no were to be found.

Harmonica took her phone out and tried calling her instead as she moved in a narrow pathway. Still, there was no response.

And Erica wasn't returning any of her calls. Harmonica headed back outside but Erica wasn't there.

The hell, where did Erica disappear to... Harmonica wondered. She didn't know who she was going to ask, then she thought of the next possible person that would definitely know about whereabouts. 'Helene'

She dialed Helene's number on her phone and waited her response.

Just then, Helene appeared walking towards her with her phone ringing. Harmonica looked up to see Helene.

"What the matter?", Helene asked picking the call.

"It Erica. "

"What happened to her?"

"...Jeffrey called and he told me to stay with her. He sounded... worried. Like something was gonna happen to her."

"Ugh" Helene gasped. "Did he tell you anything else? "

"No...i am afraid not. All he said was I should keep an eye on her. Now I can't find anywhere!"

Helene rolled her eyeballs. "It a shame, you love her yet you know nothing about her where abouts..."

"This is no time for joke. ", Harmonica voiced out. "We should be looking for her like right now."

"Relax... she's gonna be fine. ", Helene said assertively. "What could possibly go wrong."

Harmonica raised a brow. "I wish you didn't say that. "

"C'mon let's go.", the girls ran of in search of Erica.

It was just then Rik and Jeff arrived.

Rik gave a low grunt as the mustang stopped. "I have no business with your life. I am just a man who loves his cemetery so much. "

Jeffrey tilted his head towards him. "Are you seriously saying that right now?"

"Yes... any problem?"

"On a second thought, no... you can go back to your ʄʊċҡɨռɢ cemetery and possibly ʄʊċҡ the dead bodies!.", Jeffrey beamed taking out two Beretta M9 and got out of the old mustang.

"This is why I don't come out.", Rik muttered and started the vehicle's engines and drove out away.

The girls went around asking anyone for Erica. But they claimed to have not seen her. No one was providing concrete information as they gave different places they had seen her before.

Jeffrey on the hand was about to enter when he was stopped by the bouncers.

"Sorry, you can't go in."

In a low tone. "Ahhh... great. ", Jeffrey nodded. "I am friends with Nancy Hall."

"No invitation cards... no entry."

"Arrgh! c'mon I have to get in. "

The bouncers equipped a dead serious face and glared at him. Speaking in unison.

"Get lost or we will make you get lost ourselves. "

Jeffrey smirked. "I'd like to see you try. "

Whoosh!

Jeffrey came crashing down on the ground roughly. He groaned loudly on his back up.

" Ingrates!. ", He cursed underneath his breath. He pulled himself back on his feet slowly staring at the bouncers.

''I have to get in and warn Erica about Helene. I might be mistaken but she gotta be warned, there's a demon walking the grounds of New Orleans.''

He brought out his phone and clicked on Harmonica number. He walked towards the bouncer while calling her. The ringing tone went of with a voice coming through.

"Hey harmonica , is she with you yet?"

"There might be a problem.",

"... what is it, don't tell me you can't find her?!"

"Look Jeffrey , what's going on?"

"Where's Helene then?"

"She's over here."

"You told her?", Jeff exploded. "Damn..."

"What do you mean damn?, why won't I tell her... Jeff. ", She paused, looking back at Helene who she was unable to find. She had disappeared. "... Is there something you aren't telling me?"

"Argh..."

"Helene just disappeared... and that is very unusual, I can't find her anywhere, we were suppose to be looking for Erica together."

"Oh shit! am coming in.", He hanged up and marched down to the bouncers with his ID, yes! his police ID, why didn't he think of it before. There was no way they would prevent him from entering this time around.

"Seems you never learn little man. ", one of the bouncers said as Jeffrey closed the gap between them.

"Jeffery Jacobs. Am a senior officer Of the New Orleans Police Department. And I have a search warrant, am looking for a girl; Erica Daniels. So, if you want this party to still run as smooth as it running now them let me in and we shall avoid it.", Jeffrey lowered his card and without waiting for them to speak,

he entered the party leaving the bouncers speechless.

"Did we just harassed a Senior Officer? " , One of them said with guilt running down his spine.

"Guess we did...", the other replied without facing his partner.

Feeling guilty I see, but where did Erica vanished to?
