By now, it had become clear to Scarlett that Zooey was trying to provoke her, and she cursed herself inwardly for not seeing it sooner. The signs had been there from the start! From the moment Zooey had stepped in to try to crown her the unofficial winner, she should have known the psychotic bitch was up to something!
And now, Zooey had her exactly what she wanted. She was incredibly clever- and Scarlett saw that this was made her dangerous. Given the situation and the characters in play, any sane logical mind could see that this was clearly a well constructed trap. Zooey was practically asking her to give her an opportunity to legally humiliate and hurt her- in public. Scarlett was not dense. She saw it clearly.
But that did not mean she was planning on backing down.
