"...did you know that Eliana is now killing it as the whiz kid in her new class? She's absolutely a star girl now!"
Alex smiled warmly. "Wow, really?"
"YES! It's like something came over her recently. I mean, she's normally good, but she's just been killing it of late..."
This news did not come as a shocker to Alex. This was to be expected.
He had significantly upgraded her during their last 'meeting.' And though she probably had not realized it yet, she was functioning on a higher level.
For the next ten minutes, she blabbed nonstop, gisting Alex on the happenings in school since his absence. It was not like she was the ultra self-absorbed type, but she knew Alex was far from basic. Deep down, she knew his adventures were on a whole other level completely. She had already been to Hell once with him. And the truth was, she had vowed to distance herself as much as possible from Alex's other business.
