Chapter 74 - Trap

The most they could do was to teleport through the matrix, and he could not just abandon the area like that.

Mina shot three fingers in the air, pointing eastward.

He understood immediately. It was their signal to go rescue the hostages. Silently, the two of them broke off from the group, while the rest of the team went off to repair the broken matrix seal.

There was a small grove of trees ahead. They were huddled together in clusters, like a carefully planned orange orchard. Beyond that, they could not physically tell because it was already dark, and the moon was less than friendly that evening.

Alex did not have time for this. He reached out in the dark, and tapped Mina's arm softly- twice. Mina spun her head in his direction. Her movement had been so fast, and so sudden, that for a second, he was worried she might have snapped her neck.

"What?" she whispered.

"I have an artifact that should help us hone in on her location quickly."
