Chapter 50 - Angelia

Clearly, someone had sought them out, and had found one. And by the look of things, the person was not a cosmic being, Alex would have sensed them. From all indication, they appeared to be human. No one needed to tell him that a human that could potentially kill a god was bad news.

Blood rushed to his head. His eyes darkened, and his jaw clenched. If he had been in his full god status, the atmosphere and weather around him would have begun to react.

He heard Scarlett slightly cough in her sleep, and for a moment, it served as a temporary distraction. He glanced back, and looked on the refreshing sight of the blonde beauty sleeping. For a short period, he was lost in that point in time. But it did not last long.

His thoughts finally wandered back, and found his worries.

A part of him knew he was overreacting. From the fluctuations he had perceived, he knew that the weapon had not yet been developed to reach lethal level- yet. But, it was powerful enough to inflict some serious damage on a demigod like him- maybe even kill him! That weapon was a real problem!

In long powerful strides, he journeyed across the room, and immediately began to get dressed. As he buckled his trousers, he began to go back and forth. It was no mistake that weapon had been activated in this area. Was someone deliberately taunting him? The more he thought about it, the less likely it seemed.

No human knew about his true identity. Not even Scarlett and her sister. They both still believed that he was some kind of shaman. So, maybe the weapon was not targeted at him anyway.

His shoes finally done, he jumped on his feet with the ethusiastic energy of someone who had just gotten a new goal. He had to find the truth about this now. He was way too curious. He had to know!

As soon as he stepped out of Scarlett's apartment building, and into the open air, he began the search for the potentially deadly god killer. Its powerful signal had vanished. along with its soul fluctuations. Its energy was the farthest thing from ordinary, it was too distinguished and too pronounced to be picked up by an ordinary search. It was a god killer after all, and it had been specifically designed to stay out of the radaar of most gods.

But Alex's last upgrade had put him on an entirely different level now. It was pretty Ironic, but the truth was, he had Lilith to thank for that.

Immediately, he activated his eye of God, and enhanced it with a burst of power from his recently acquired upgrade. This expanded his range by a significant degree. His cosmic strength had now risen to a whole new level entirely, resulting in the fact that Alex could now search the entire state with ease.

He was walking on the street like a normal person. And like a normal person, he also wore decent clothes, and smelled like shower gel. But there was no way anyone who saw him would ever suspect that he was conducting a search on a state level- all for one weapon.

As a demi god, Alex's powers had now grown to an impressive level. Unfortunately, that was not enough to determine the precise location of the weapon. But Alex was not deterred. At least, he was not totally handicapped in this scenario. Despite the fact that he could not pin point the exact whereabouts of the god killer, he had managed to get a sense of the general direction of where it was coming from.

He wasted no time. He hurried over to the next alley, and quickly teleported to the location.

As always, time and space blended into one unseemly mirage, and Alex touched down at the other side within a blink of an eye. After looking around to ensure that he had not been spotted, he emerged from the shadows and took in his new environment. It was the exact opposite of what he had been expecting.

His teleportation ability was spot on. It was one hundred and ten percent efficient. Expecting it to be defective was like expecting water to flow uphill instead of downhill. It was impossible. So, he had no reason to doubt.

But when he found himself in a pretty posh neigbourhood, starring at a bunch of fifth graders huddled together in an open yard with shiny party hats on their large heads, Alex mentally took a step back to re-evaluate his chances of being off course. It was zero. This was where the god killer was. It was a beautiful cover up, and Alex kicked himself for expecting something more sinister.

Of course a weapon of this nature would not simply be hanging around in an obvious location. Whoever the human was, it looked like they were a smart bunch.

The sound of the giggling laughter, and spontaneous shrieks of the excited kids drowned out his own inner monologue. The whole backyard was laden with the bright eye-catchy colors of childhood. There was an inflatable unicorn. There was a performer on stage holding a tall hat, and pulling out a white-

"Wait a minute..." He thought to himself; "Is that a rabbit?!!!"

Indeed it was.

Kids made Alex nervous. So, unfortunately, he had misread the whole situation completely. This was no birthday party. This was a magic show! Little difference yes, but to someone like Alex who could take a look at any situation and read it perfectly, such a trivial mistake was simply not consistent with his character.

The children roared with delight and clapped with all their might as the magician pulled out a live bunny from her top hat. She stood about five foot two, barely taller than any of the kids present. But she was the only adult on stage.

Alex would not have paid that any mind. But for some reason, his instincts told him he had found his prize. He eyes rested on the only adult he could see at the time, and glossed over this magician. She was pretty to look at. Her petite figure and her elf like face made her look like the very image of a fairy. Of course, she probably looked that way because she was actually in a pink fairy dress with make shift wings at her back.

But it was not just that. Alex took a step forward, and gauged the young lady properly with his physical eyes. He did not want to activate his Eye of god yet, because he did not want to stir any kind of cosmic energy that might alert an potential enemy. But even with his normal eyes, and his super sensitive sensory system, Alex could tell that this was no fake. She was trying her best to suppress it, but she was a real mage.

It turned out he had been right not to use his powers after all.

Visibly intrigued by this petite mage, Alex found a place at the back, and sat down to watch her and her team perform. It was all he could do at that moment.

Her name was Angelia.

She was one of those people whose names fitted them. She had an Angel-like face that was free of any of the usual blemish one would find in a human female. She looked what the offspring of an angel and a fairy would look like. If not for her petite form, she might have been able to boast of a tremendous amount of sex appeal. But it was difficult not to see her as a child in that pink dress and fake translucent fairy wings strapped to her back.

Her second act was impressive.

Her lifted her finger to her lips, bidding the children to be quiet. Her audience instantly went dead still, as some three dozen eyes fastened their gaze on Angelia, waiting for the blockbuster. She did not disappoint.

One of her assistants, clothed in the same tight fitting fairy costume as her, entered the scene and took her position at the center of the stage.

Angela stepped to the side. She then closed her eyes like she was in a meditative state, and lifted up her wand to point at the girl. In response, the girl spread out her hands like a bird, and before the very eyes of her audience, her small form began to rise from the ground. The kids gasped in awe as their fairy princess began to ascend to the sky.
