He sensesed her presence before she appeared.
It was like a mist of perfume suddenly engulfed the air like a thick cloud. He laid eyes on her, and heard his throat gulp. Maybe it was the new demigod status, it have have also been the fact that he had not been with her for a while. Whatever it was, it certainly could not explain the reason behind her flaming beauty that afternoon.
"You're staring again newbie, don't be weird."
"My bad, it's really hard not to stare when you walk in here looking like a snack."

"A snack-" Alex repeated. "You know, like a walking, breathing human appetiz---"
He stopped when he saw her face turn really sour. Her nose was up turned, as though he had literally said something foul. Fuck, he thought. What now? What had he done? Was it something he had said?
