"You mean the light? I'm not sure."
"But if that was not Silent Stab, then WHO WAS THAT???"
Her question was valid, and Alex had a fairly good idea who it was. But he did not want to jump into overly optimistic conclusions. That was an expensive pleasure that he simply could not afford.
"Let's get closer. We'll see everything up close."
The plan sounded reasonable enough. She took a step forward, but remembered Nessie, and glanced back nervously. She did not want to be taken unawares again from behind. Nessie had given her post traumatic stress disorder that was sure to follow her for life.
Sensing her distrust, Alex reassured her;
"Relax, can't you tell she's been set free? The link that bound her to him has been severed. Let's go find him. Whoever it was that broke the connection must have Silent Stab pissing his pants by now."
Alex was right about that bit.
