"Travis, stop making trouble everywhere you go just for your brother to clean up your mess." Next to the gorgeous chocolate wet dream stood another guy, just as hot and tall with broad shoulders and smooth butterscotch skin with short sexy messy brown hair.
These words wiped that cocky smile right off his face. "Roman and his lap dog, Matt." The boy named Travis glared at the intruders before continuing. "For your information, my brother does not control me!" Annoyance flared in his tone.
"Whatever you say... little pup," the one with the long dreads, Roman, teased, chuckling at the anger that sparked in the little pup's eyes. The boy looked readying to fight when out of nowhere two attractive girls suddenly pressed themselves up against him.
"Dude, stop trying to start a fight, and let's party!" A cute shaggy haired redheaded boy with a wolf grin entered the scene and threw an arm around the other boy's neck and began dragging him away, but not before shooting a wink behind his back.
"I honestly don't know how Trevor puts up with him," disappointingly said the tall handsome brunette, standing beside the one with dreads.
"Well, his mother is Alpha Trent's beloved, and from what I hear, he spoils them both rotten, and his personality reflects that. While Trevor's background is a different story," muttered Roman before turning his attention back to Lisa, who was busy comforting Dia.
"Baby doll, don't you think I deserve a reward for coming to your rescue?" Roman lavished Lisa with his attention, secretly drinking in her figure from head to toe
"Rescue? If that's what you call it, what do you have in mind?" Sounding intrigued, Lisa decided to humor him a little.
"Well, your name for starters, and if you're single or not."
"The name's Lisa and that's all you'll get out of me. Let's go, Dia!" Lisa grabbed Dia's hand, and the two left.
"She's just your type, feisty," smirked Roman's friend, who saw how his friend's eyes trailed after the firecracker. The first time a woman barely showed any interest in him.
"You forgot another thing."
"What's that?"
"She is hot but clueless about our 'world', which makes me wonder how tonight's events will play out." Gone was the humor, his eyes grave as he contemplated the appearance of those girls.
"Everyone here attends Night Class except for those two girls. I think I saw them come in with the girl Sara is currently targeting. I won't be shocked if she's got some big evil plan cooked up for the poor girl. What are you gonna do? Get involved or stay out of it?" asked the handsome brunette.
"Stay out of it. This is their problem, and I refuse to get dragged into their drama. This goes for the others too." This was not a request but an order that the brunette took earnestly.
"Even if that girl you were flirting with may be involved?" Instead of answering, Roman chose to remain silent before walking away with the other trailing after him.
Occupying the porch at the back of the house were two girls. "It's good seeing you, Alice. I do miss hearing that beautiful voice of yours. Well at least you are still able to sing in the background. It's a shame what jealousy can do to a person." The girl voiced her disappointment, sounding so sincere that it almost deceived Alice into believing her.
"The theater business fits you well. 'Cause last I remember, it was you who set me up." Unlike in the past, Alice would not be tricked by the girl's pure and clean facade she seemed to give others. Anger boiled in her gut as she recalled that incident from last year that almost got her kicked out of the Theater Department.
The girl laughed, eyes innocent and free of guilt. "Alice, everyone saw you injure me right before the ballad."
"I only attacked you because you attacked me first! I almost lost my life and was only defending myself!" Alice lost her patience, remembering how Daphne used the powers of her familiar to attack her, using a spell that caged her limbs and almost tore them from their sockets if she didn't activatedher weapon and saved herself.
Using the monument given to her, Alice charged at Daphne and swung her weapon, realizing a minute too late that this was a trap set up. The next thing Alice recalled was the blood that spilled on the dressing room floor, followed by a scream of terror and Daphne holding her bleeding neck with teary eyes that looked directly at Alice.
"Even after I came to your aid and fought not to get you kicked out of the Theater Department, you should be grateful that you are at least still a background performer. It's just that you'll never sing nor act lead in a performance again, and after all that hard work, you only had your chance in the spotlight one time."
Daphne talked as if she really tried to do a good deed with her bravo of innocence. Barely missable, Alice could see the corners of Daphne's lips lift upwards in a show of ridicule.
"Sara wants everyone to gather back inside. She's about to reveal the main event!" The girls' conversation was interrupted when the same girl that greeted them at the door made this announcement.
Sending Alice off with a smile of good faith, Daphne said to her, "Run along, Alice. You wouldn't want to be running late."
Alice left and forced her way through the crowd, happy to see Lisa and Dia, as all eyes were on Sara who happily stood in the center of the room.
"So happy everyone was able to make it to my party. Now, let's begin tonight's fun game. Most of you are familiar with it, called Hide and Seek!"
Dia got a sinking feeling in her gut, wincing as she held her head. Broken scenes from a dream she had forgotten flashed to mind. Recalling herself running through a maze, limbs shaking in fear.
"Dia, you okay?" came Lisa's worried voice.
"Yeah, I'm fine! Just a light headache!" lied Dia. Sara held a black box in her hands.
"The target whose name I announce will be randomly drawn using the tickets that were taken at the door." Alice sensed something strange going on, detecting the mocking side-eyes those in the room were giving her, and that was when she noticed something odd.
'Everyone here… attends Night Class.' The gears clicked together in Alice's head. 'Oh no... I think I figured out what Sara's got planned!'
"We gotta go!" Alice urgently warned Lisa and Dia.
"Huh?" confusion clouded Lisa's eyes. "But Sara is just about to start the game-"
"Screw the game! Your lives are in danger! I can't believe she would do something like this and even involve you two!"
Desperation and fear leaked from Alice's voice, making the sinking feeling in Dia's gut worsen. Ears perked when Sara cleared her throat to announce the target's name.
"Well, lookie here! It seems our first target of the night... is Alice!" Instantly all eyes locked onto them like predators eyeing their prey. Even Lisa noticed the change in atmosphere and felt her skin crawl.
"Run all you want, Alice, but there's nowhere to hide! You may have some impressive skills, but even you can't take them all out!" Sara sang before bursting into laughter. With Lisa briefly distracted, Alice was able to grab the girls' hands and run out the door with them.
"Alice, what's going on?! Why do you look so terrified!?" Alice's face told Lisa this went far past some simple prank.
"She is so stupid! She knows the rules about involving 'normal' humans in our worldly affairs! Why reveal herself like this? None of it makes sense!" Alice rumbled, but none of her words made sense to the two girls.
Upon reaching the entrance to a garden maze, Dia winced again as flashes of memories containing mysterious shadowy figures, a girl with a sword, and this very garden made her scream.
The two girls paused in their footsteps, shooting Dia a confused and concerned glance.
"Dia, what's wrong? Why are you shaking so bad?" Shaking off Alice's hand, Lisa ran to Dia and wrapped the girl in a tight hug. The girl's shoulders trembled, eyes blown wide, hands clutching at her head.
"They're coming! The shadows are coming after us!" Dia yelled with fright. She missed the way Alice's eyes narrowed in on her when she mentioned shadows. Hearing the rustle of trees in the distance, Alice knew they couldn't remain here.
"We can't waste time! We gotta move!" urgently yelled Alice when the eerie laughter of a girl filled the area.
"Poor little hunter... You just had to go and stir up some trouble."
In the darkness of the night, blocking the entrance to the garden, cloaked in the shadows, were three figures. Both Lisa's and Dia's voices got caught in their throat, unable to speak. From the veild of darkness, crimson eyes glowed, plunged their souls into a state of fear that they had never experienced before.
"W-What on earth are they…?! W-Why are their eyes red?!" screamed Lisa, feeling her stomach knotting, intuition screaming at her to run.
Alice was calm when she answered Lisa's question.
"They're vampires."
