Chapter 1 - Ch.1: Ominous Dreams

A little girl, no more than seven years old, had blood dripping down the side of her face. In the backseat of a wrecked car, she sat barely conscious as she peered out the window.

The pain from her head caused her to wonder about the identities of the odd black human shapes she could spot outside in the distance. Suddenly the girl could hear the voice of her mother shouting outside the car before letting out a scream that terrified the little girl.

"Mom? Mommy, where are you? I'm scared!" Panic struck the seven years old. She tried to get out of the car, but the doors were locked and wouldn't open. She was desperate to get to her parents, no longer wanting to be stuck inside the car. Repeatedly she pulled on the door handle, growing frustrated that it wouldn't open and allow her to run to her parent's open arms.

"Mommy? Daddy?! I don't want to be stuck here anymore! Please let me out! I'm scared!" The little girl in her pink princess costume dress cried with a heavy heart.

When the sound of something slamming against the window made her scream, but what terrified her more was the pair of blood-red eyes that chilled her bones, glaring loathsomely at her, before ripping the jaws of its mouths open just as a loud scream tore from the little girl's mouth.

Back in the present, a now sixteen-year-old Dia woke up startled. Sweat drenched the front of her pink sleeping blouse, yet she could not remember what she had just dreamt about for some odd reason. She placed a hand over her rapid-beating heart and took deep breaths to get her heartbeat under control.

"What the heck was I dreaming about?" Removing the bedsheet from her body, a girl standing around five feet with golden brown skin, stretched her arms above her head.

Entering the bathroom to take a quick shower before slipping on her work uniform, which consisted of a pink polo shirt with a black collar. A cute cupcake logo was printed on the front along with the store name paired with black jeans that hugged her wide hips and slim legs.

Standing in the mirror, she parted her long dark brown wavy hair; holding a section in her hand to style her hair into her favorite pigtails.

"Alright! Off to work I go!" Adjusting her pink framed glasses, Dia smiled at her reflection and left the homely two-story house where she lived with her older brother who was currently off at work.

Waiting at the bus station, Dia plugged in her earbuds, scrolling through her phone for her favorite playlist. Once the music played, she stared out into space, daydreaming when the bus pulled up and she hopped aboard. The ride was half an hour long when the bus stopped and dropped her off a few blocks from the cafe she had been working at since the beginning of summer break.

The cafe was a small building with a simple interior design. After clocking into work, and greeting her boss who sat in her office on the phone. Dia entered the kitchen and decided to make donuts.

An hour into work, Dia could be seen humming to herself as she removed a tray of donuts from the oven. She let them cool off first before dipping each donut in either strawberry, chocolate, or plain white icing then decorated them with either sprinkles, nuts, or a chocolate drizzle before placing them in the display window.

Hearing the door chime, Dai made sure her appearance was presentable before walking to the cash register and began taking customers' orders. This was how her day normally went until it got ready for the shop to close which was around eight o'clock.

"Dia, can you take the trash out for me? I got a date to get too! Thank you!" Dia's co-worker, a cute short-haired blonde named Izzy, handed her work off to the brunette, before hastily grabbing her things and booking it out the door.

Huffing at the other girl's laziness, Dia swallowed her grievance and took the trash out to the dumpster in the back.

'It stinks! No wonder Izzy keeps handing off her job to someone else!' The rotten smell made Dia grimace, grumbling to herself.

The heavy bag took all of her strength to haul out. Exiting the door, the warm air of the night brushed against her skin. But before she could throw the trash in the dumpster, a scream of fright rang from her pink lips, dropping the trash bag.

'What is a stranger doing here? Who is he? Is he some type of killer, or worse, a mob boss on the run from rival gangs!?'

Dia's eyes were glued to the person slumped on the ground, leaning against the wall of the building. Her heart raced, and her palms turned sweaty as she contemplated what to do next. A groan of pain managed to snap her back into reality.

'Wow! Even while all beat up, he still manages to look... beautiful and maybe too young to be a mob boss. How did a guy like this end up in his current position?'

Dia cautiously moved closer to the guy and placed his height at 5'7 or maybe a few inches taller. The tattered condition of what used to be a nice-looking suit revealed lean, solid muscles, showing that despite his current condition, the boy kept his body in perfect condition.

Brushing his bangs back, Dia looked at his face and blushed. 'Didn't know a person can still manage to be hot while sporting what looks to be a black eye, a bruise to his left cheek, and a busted lip! What is this guy? A vampire?'

It was only a joke, running her eyes over the boy's spotless porcelain skin and soft wavy raven hair. A few strands fell over his closed eyes in a very attractive way. Spotting various ear piercings and what looked to be some kind of dragon or snake tattoo that covered his neck and extended downward gave Dia the impression of a bonafide bad-boy.

'His condition doesn't look too good.' Dia always considered herself a sucker for handsome faces.

Reaching into her pocket, Dia called for help. The lady on the phone said that the ambulance should be here in thirty minutes, so until they got here, the short brunette did the best she could.

Running inside the building, she searched for a first aid kit. Once one was in her hands, she ran back to the stranger and began treating some of his minor wounds.

"There! That should be enough!" Dia bandaged the bruise on his cheek and the busted lip. Lifting her finger to the boy's nose, she was happy that he was still breathing but grew worried about how cold his skin felt.

"Just hang in there," she softly reassured him, unaware that his eyes had cracked open.

The minute his eyes opened, the mystery boy was instantly captivated by the pair of kind brown eyes staring down at him, accompanied by a sweet voice that kept reassuring him.

"Sweet," the boy murmured, catching Dia's ears.

"Did you just talk? Are you feeling okay? Don't worry, I just called the ambulance and said they should be here soon!" Dia hoped her voice could reach him. She watched the boy move his arm. A cold hand cupped the left side of her face.

"Beautiful..." The was enamored by the sight before him, watching the way the girl's brown cheek flushed.

Dia was captivated by the boy's rich voice that contradict his cute face; a quiver ran down her spine but not out of fear. She was unable to move when those piercing icy blue eyes stared straight at her with a heated look of desire.

"My throat is burning..." In a matter of seconds, their position was in reverse. The mysterious stranger had Dia pinned to the wall, lost in trace staring at each other eyes. She knew she should feel afraid, but felt at peace as if she knew he would not hurt her.

"Please forgive me for what I'm about to do. This will only sting in the beginning. Then you'll feel great pleasure," he whispered gently against her lips, tone apologetic. Dia dumbly nodded her head, which brought forth a pretty smile that only accentuated the boy's captivating looks.

"Good girl." The boy was pleased by her words. Crimson seeped into the irises of his eyes and that was when she brought out of her trance and yelp with fear.

'Those eyes...! I've seen them before!' Flashes of memories that should've been locked away replayed in Dia's head, watching the man extend his jaw.

Long, sharp teeth that Dia was sure were called fangs glinted ominously in the moonlight. A tear ran down her cheek before a piercing pain like a syringe injected into her skin made her cry softly, but the pain was short-lived.

What followed next was a burst of pleasure that made her toes curl, and a wanton moan escaped her painted pink lips. Caged in the man's arms, Dia could only stare up at the crescent moon until she finally lost consciousness.
