Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Essence of Spells, Ancient Runes

With school bell reminder. The first enchantment lesson was over, too, with Professor Flitwick giving Ravenclaw 10 points because of Alvin's excellent performance.

The little wizards went out one after another, but Alvin didn't leave. He still had some questions that he needed to ask Professor Flitwick.

Seeing that everyone has left, and Alvin has not left. Professor Flitwick asked with a little doubt.

"Mr. Gaunt, do you have anything else to do?"

"Yes Professor, I still have some questions about spells that I would like to ask you."

"Then let's talk in my office. Come with me, Mr. Gaunt."

Then, Alvin followed Professor Flitwick to his office. The office space is large, with bookshelves lining the walls and books on the shelves.

According to Alvin's observation, the vast majority of these books are books on spells, and many books have not even been published.

Professor Flitwick took his seat and motioned for Alvin to sit down too.

Alvin was not polite and sat opposite Professor Flitwick.

"Want something to drink, Mr. Gaunt?"

"A cup of black tea without sugar, thank you."

Alvin loves tea very much, but he doesn't understand the dark food of black tea with sugar. Do Brits add sugar to everything they eat?

"Black tea is indeed a good choice, Mr. Gaunt."

With a wave of Professor Flitwick's wand, a set of exquisite tea sets appeared on the table. Then the tea set floats up and divides the tea.

"Wonderful Levitation spell application, Professor."

"Thank you, then Mr. Gaunt, what questions do you want to ask?"

Professor Flitwick took a sip, then asked Alvin.

"Professor, I should have some talent in magic spells. Before I went to school, I had already learned most of the magic spells above the standard spells, elementary level."

"But when I tried silent casting and wandless casting, I ran into some difficulties."

This is indeed the case. Through the system's daily card draw and his usual hard work, he has learned a lot of spells. But when he tried silent and wandless casting, he made no progress.

Silent casting is fine and can be successful once in a while, but wandless casting has never been successful.

"Oh? Mr. Gaunt, you let me know from your performance in class just now that you are a genius. If you don't mind, can you show your current abilities?"

Professor Flitwick expressed interest.

Alvin didn't speak after hearing this, and showed Professor Flitwick the same hand he had in class just now, floated the teapot, and filled Professor Flitwick with tea. Casting the Vanishing Charm to make the teapot disappear.

Finally, cast a Counter-charm to restore everything.

Clap! Clap! Clap!

The applause recalled that Professor Flitwick was very happy.

"Very wonderful, Mr. Gaunt, if it was in class, I should have given you twenty points, no, fifty points! We haven't had a genius like you in Ravenclaw for a long time!"

After speaking, Flitwick pushed up his glasses and wiped his tears with a handkerchief.

After a while, Professor Flitwick's mood gradually calmed down, and he began to think about Alvin's problem.

A few minutes passed, and he looked up at Alvin.

"Mr. Gaunt, why do you think a wizard needs a spell and a wand to cast spells?"

Alvin was stunned when he heard the question. Started thinking about this. After thinking about it, again and again, he gave his answer.

"Professor, I think that a wizard can concentrate when he recites a spell, and through the wand and fixed gestures, the magic in the body can be activated. It can be used for spells."

Alvin expressed his opinion, looking forward to looking at Professor Flitwick, and waiting for his evaluation.

"Well said, Mr. Gaunt. Your understanding of spells is close to the level of the O.W.L.S exam."

Professor Flitwick first expressed his admiration and then spoke again.

"However, you have overlooked a point, a point that ordinary wizards don't care about, and that is Will."

Professor Flitwick pointed to his head with his hand.

"Will?"

"Yes, when a wizard casts a spell, it's not just concentration, it's a process of instilling one's will into the spell. Why are we wizards? We think we can do this, and we can make it happen through the spell."

After taking a sip of tea, he continued.

"And when you want to cast spells silently, you need a stronger will to let the spell release successfully. Because you didn't recite the spell, you need to instill enough will in your way to release it. This way Naturally, you can cast spells silently."

"Of course, there is still some gap between the power of the spell used in this way and the release of the spell."

After listening to Professor Flitwick's words, Alvin frowned and fell into contemplation.

Professor Flitwick was not in a hurry and enjoyed his afternoon tea leisurely.

A few minutes later, Alvin took out his wand and pointed at a quill on the table, which suddenly floated up.

But when Alvin relaxed a little, the quill fell slowly again.

"Congratulations, Mr. Gaunt, it seems that you have found a way that suits you. I have to say, your talent is amazing."

Professor Flitwick was very happy. It was a pleasure for such a savvy little wizard to be in his academy.

Slytherin has won the Houses Cup for six years in a row.

Although Ravenclaw pays more attention to the improvement of their knowledge. They don't care much about trivial matters.

But Flitwick is Head of Ravenclaw, and he still hopes his house can win the House Cup.

In Alvin's body, he saw this possibility.

He is also very happy to provide some help to the talented little wizard.

"Thank you, Professor, thanks to your guidance, I was able to get started so quickly." Alvin expressed his gratitude to Professor Flitwick.

"Professor, what if you cast spells without a staff? Do you need a stronger will?"

Alvin continued to ask.

"Yes, Mr. Gaunt. But you still need to have some deeper knowledge of magic. In third grade, I suggest you take Ancient Rune, which will help you a lot. But these are for you now. It's still too early."

Flitwick patiently explained to Alvin.

"Ancient Rune? I see, thank you for your help today."

Alvin understood Flitwick's suggestion, and today's goal is achieved. So he stood up and walked out of the office.
