Chapter 7 - The statement of an Atheist, Part-7

About police station-court, part-7

I saw three people sitting in OC Mr.'s room. Second officer Mizan, police station OC Hafez, and senior officers. He is likely to be Deputy Commissioner of Police. As I was taken to the OC's room, all three of them glared at me. Two constables took me to the OC's room and made me sit in front of them. And one said, -"Sir, the name is Opriyo." This piglet to our Prophet….

Before the constable finished speaking, the senior officer waved his hand and waved his cigarette smoke, -"Well, you go."

They left the OC's room. Then the three sat very close around me. The big official asked me, - What is this name?

I said, "Sir, I am Opriyo."

- What do you do?

-Do business.

-What do you do?

- of gold.

From the middle, OC Hafez clapped his hand on my head, looked at the senior officer and said, -"Sir, this boy is a thing!" I have read its Facebook wall writings all night yesterday. You sir can't refute a single argument of this boy's writing. Each of his writings is logical.

The big official looked at me and said, - Why did you go to do these things as a businessman? These are none of your business.

i am silent

He said again, - This is Bangladesh, a Muslim country. You cannot write this from a 90% Muslim country. You can't say whatever you want.

After being silent for a while, he said again, "-Well, dear, how much have you studied?"

I said, - I did not give the secondary examination.

Hearing that he fell from the sky. He was surprised and said, - What!

I said very casually, -Yes sir.

-Tell me honestly, how much have you studied?

- I said the truth.

Second officer Mizan roared and said, "-This prostitute's son, tell me honestly how much you are studying?"

I heard this rude behavior of Mizan and said, - Sir, can I humbly ask you a question?

-Yes please.

-Yesterday night, this SI Mr. Mizan questioned my mother and sister Fourteen fists by abusing them, may I know if these abuses are also taught during the basic training of the police?

Hearing my words, Mr. Mizan rushed towards me. He said, - Do you complain against me? How dare you!

I looked at him and remained silent.

The big official looked at Mizan and scolded him a lot and said, "You don't know how to talk to whom?" Don't you have this much common sense?

SI Mizan kept his head down while listening to the senior officer.

Again the senior official said to me, "Well, Opriyo, do you know that you have committed a crime under Article 295 by insulting the Prophet and hurting religious sentiments?"

I said, - Sir, I criticized from my freedom of speech and democratic rights. And Article 295 was passed by the British a hundred and fifty years ago today. Which is not the application of this law in the current British. At that time the British passed this law in the subcontinent for their own benefit.

- Opriyo, did you see the interests of the British with this law?

- Sir, I think the stronger the religious feeling among the people, the easier it will be for the British to exploit and rule India. Because Hindu-Muslim division can be created with religious sentiments. Hindu-Muslim unity can be broken. And because of this disunity, Hindu-Muslims will not be able to stand together with a strong movement against the colonial British rule. The Hindu-Muslims of this subcontinent were already religious even before the partition, and if Article 295A was passed on the offense of religious sentiments, the religious people of India would show some loyalty to the British. British interest may lie here sir.

OC Hafez is listening to the words very attentively. After I finished speaking, he was very surprised and said, - It never occurred to us!

He said again, - See, sir, this boy thinks deeply!

The big official shook his head and said, "Hmm."

The big official looked at me again and said very slyly, "If you are happy, you will kill yourself, right?" Why did you write about these things? Go to jail now!

I said, "Sir, all people are not the same." Many may be silent on the inconsistency of the society. i can't I am not comfortable writing against them sir.

He said again, - If you go to jail, stay at ease! He left the chair saying he was relieved.

i am silent

Later he came to the toilet. Later I had many other talks with these three officers. Which can be said later. After talking for about an hour and a half in the OC's room, two constables came and put me back in the cell. It was seven thirty or eight o'clock in the morning. The interior of cell is so dirty and unsanitary that even a dog would probably feel uncomfortable staying there. The food that is given to the accused in the cell, no dog or cat will eat this food. I was waiting to be taken to court. Because I found the dirty environment of this cell very unbearable. It seems that domesticated cows and goats do not live in such a dirty environment. After some time young brother Sajeeb comes and gives bread, banana, biscuits and water. Along with a pack of cigarettes. I ate little last night, so I'm very hungry. After getting food, I kept talking in that dirty environment. I'm hungry, as if I've been hungry for a long time! In pursuit of hunger, many poor people and street children in the world eat dustbin food, I am in a better environment than this. I said that in my mind.

I heard that I will be taken to the court around 12 noon. So I kept pestering the two constables by asking them the time of the watch. Sometimes they get annoyed and say, -"Shala, I will leave you here." Will not be taken to court. Die here!

It was still past 12:30 and close to 1 o'clock. Second officer Mizan called me. He called and took many pictures of me. More like a photographer style. I didn't even bother to take pictures. I said in my mind, take as many pictures as you want. Then took the paw prints of my two hands with ten fingers. Then he said, -Do you know why I am taking these prints of your hand?

I said, - I don't know. Why?

Mizan said, "If you ever write on Facebook again, we will automatically know about it." We will know where you are. Then I will beat the hands with a hammer!

- The police administration that cannot arrest the criminals rapists, murderers and killers of this country due to lack of responsibility, will keep an eye on my Facebook operation! What an activity! If the police were so effective, our country would not be in this situation today. I said that in my heart.

Mizan insisted again, - What do you understand?

I said, - Hmm.

Then he wanted to know what goods are in my shop. He said, - Do you have stock in your store?

- What you are saying is not related to this crime. And besides, I am not obliged to tell you! I said it very hard through my teeth.

I bought my mobile last year 11. And seeing that the mobile phone is a little expensive, Mizan said that I should give the mobile phone to him. And he told me to lighten the case.

I said, - Sorry sir. I don't give my personal things to anyone.

Mizan got angry and said, "Then Shala Yah!" I will jail you for 14 years.

i am silent

It was half past two. A police car arrived like pajaro in the police station yard to take me to the court. The driver and second officer Mizan are sitting in front of the car. Two constables behind. I was squeezed between the two. Both of them put their hands in my armpits and hold me. My hands are tied behind my back. As if they were taking a murderous godfather to court. The car will leave for the court…. At that time, the OC came from inside the police station and saw my condition and scolded them and said, - Why did you handcuff the poor man like this? Is he the godfather of the mafia or not? Quickly open his handcuffs.

Two constables hurriedly uncuffed me. Then the OC said, - You don't have to handcuff him, take him like this.

When the car entered the court, I saw uncle(mama), younger brother Sajeeb, brother Achal, my lawyer and elder brother Sanjay Da standing in the court premises. What is Sanjay talking to the lawyer? The police handcuffed me before getting out of the car. Our car stopped in front of the court. Then the police took me out of the car and took me straight into the court cell. New accused are kept in these cells for a temporary period to appear before the court.

I went there and saw unbearable heat and screams. Relatives of the accused are standing outside talking to the accused inside the cell. Everyone is shouting at once. As if the dead body next to the mournful people crying inside and outside the cell! The police took me and put me inside the accused's cell. Inside the court cell, so many defendants are screaming that there is no place to sit. I was completely alone in my sleep. There I also noticed a beautiful young woman standing outside the cell crying and talking to her boyfriend. And saying, - I will get you at any cost my dear. My father has no power to keep you in jail. The young woman is bursting with anger and crying. The young man is also crying inside the cell. Both are wiping each other's tears. Sometimes, the gap between the cells is touching each other's cheek casually. I have not seen any inertia of these two in front of so many people. What pull to each other! That is caring love. Outside the cell, the girl was accompanied by the boy's father, mother and younger brother. This scene seemed the most pathetic to me. There is an iron wall standing between the love of two young man-women!

I have been here for about half an hour. No one is even coming to meet me. I'm getting a little disappointed. Again, I am thinking that maybe they are running to the court for my bail. After a while, Sanjay Da came with a packet of Birani and a bottle of water and said, "-Take it."

I took the packet in my hand and said, -"What happened to the bail of the case?"

Sanjay Da said, - The court has not yet sat. Will sit after lunch. And they (police) have left the option to file the case under section 295A later.

I said, - The approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs is required to do the case. And in the meantime you arrange to bail me out.

Sanjay Da said, - How do you understand that the approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs is needed?

- I learned this from Taslima Nasreen's 'A' book. This case is a non-bailable case. And no person can do this case even if he wants to. The approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs is required to make this case.

Sanjay Da says ok see and leaves again.

I can't wait anymore. It was past four in the afternoon. I said to myself, - The court is not supposed to be open for so long. What are they doing so long?

The old accused are being taken out of the cell one by one by the police. They will be taken to jail. At that time Sanjay Da, younger brother Sajeev and Pisit brother Achal are coming. They disappointed me and told me, - Bhai was not bailed today.

Hearing them, I shook my head up and down.

I knew there would be no bail. At least 15 days before this bail will not be. The police also showed me as a suspect and filed a case under section 54 and sent me to the court. The police also know that this section 54 case is not bailable before 15 days. So they will file a case under section 54 under section 295A and requested the honorable lower court to keep me in jail. So that they have the opportunity to file their case with the approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs. And fearing that, the latter may ask for money (bribe) from me.

I said to Sanjay Da, -Dada will not bail now. My bail will be after 15 days.

Sanjay Da said, - Don't worry. Within the next two days, we will take the bail by tapping the court.

I said, -will not give. They will give bail according to the rules.

Sanjay Da said, - Well, let's see what happens. Do you need anything else here?

I said, - Go with some dry food and water.

Then they left.

It has been a long time in the cell. It seemed that no one else would come to see. They probably forgot to give food. Then the clock passed 6 o'clock in the evening. Everyone is being taken away one by one by the prison car. The defendant's cell in the court is now mostly empty. If we take away the few new defendants lying in the cell, the courtroom will be completely empty for today. After some time he came to pick us up. 10-12 of us were roped together with handcuffs and taken out of the cell like a herd of sheep. Then we are led slowly like a flock of sheep to the prison bus standing in the court premises. The prison bus was standing in the court premises. Then the twilight has passed. I see my father before getting into the car. Baba is standing with a bag of bananas, water, biscuits, apples and chips. Father is standing with a pitiful face like a helpless one. Seeing my father, my chest heaved with an unknown pain. I have never seen my father in such a broken state. He probably never thought that this self-taught rational boy of his would ever end up in jail.

Father wiped his eyes and came towards me and handed me the bag of food and said, -"Father, how are you?"

When I saw my father crying, I did not realize that the uncontrollable tears were falling down my eyes. I wiped my eyes and said to my father, -"You too go home." It's evening. Mother is alone at home.

The police in charge says that the brother quickly got into the prison.

I got into a prison bus like a four-walled prison. Trying to see my father in the dim darkness through the gap in the upper part of the prison. Dad looked at me with a sad face. And I am saying in a crying voice, - Father, go away. go away

After everyone got up, the prison bus then left for the prison. Dad just stood there frozen.
