The next day Xavier took three of them to their office so that they can discuss about it.
He came by car and took them, after five minutes they reached their destination.
The building was a modern one. The shape was of oval shape. The building looked like an egg that was going to crack. The inside shocked her more than the outside.
Even Though the outside wall looked like an opaque one, the outside can be visibly seen from the insides. The floors were white and shining.
The building was crowded with unusual silence. It was as if, if you breathe too much, everybody could hear. The building interior was in such a way that the crowd didn't feel suffocated.
As Evelyn looked around she saw People disappearing in thin air, people appearing from thin air, books and files being suspended in air, mugs and pens flying to the other hand, People moving too fast. She felt dizzy seeing everything. It was the first time she encountered powers to be a normal day activity.
Xavier teleported them to Dylan's office. They three were now used to teleportation that they no longer felt dizzy or weak.
Dylan's office was different. It was in black and grey aesthetic. The floor was black with grey carpet under the sofas that were arranged for the meeting space. The ceiling was grey with warm lights. The other end had a black desk behind where Dylan was sitting.
He was working on his laptop. As if sensing their presence he looked up, his eyes falling on her. The next second he looked somewhere as if he saw something that he shouldn't see.
He nodded towards them to take the seat without glancing at her. After seconds he joined them.
"Are you sure you are not suspicious about anyone?" Xavier asked
"No, there is no one" Evelyn said.
Xavier took his tablet and placed it in front of them. The picture showed a syringe looking like a thing that had a little bit of a greenish liquid inside it. He moved his hands weirdly in the air which made the picture to form into a 3D one. The 3D syringe was now in the air.
Evelyn heard Aaron gasp.
"Do you have this kind of technology here?" He asked, amused. Aaron was someone who was crazy over technology. From oldest to newest one, he was always updated about everything.
"No we don't" Xavier said sarcastically to which Aaron just groaned.
"What is this?" Ryan asked, ignoring both of them.
"This is a poison. It brings our power down. If a little bit of it is consumed we cannot feel our body and our power shut down. Our body becomes quite paralyzed. We could understand everything happening around us but can't even react to it." Dylan said as he rotated the image using his hands.
"That's deadly" Ryan said. He was a known doctor. He was best in his field of internal medicine physician which was involved in surgeries, obstetrics, pediatrician and medical emergencies.
"There are medicines that have these kinds of properties but they are only made for humans. And when I read about your anatomy I don't think that medicines can have any effect on you" he explained
"Are you sure it's done by a human?" He asked.
"If you have studied about us you may know that our DNA is quite different from yours. As we scanned the syringe we found a skin cell and a fingerprint. Both confirmed that it would be from a human. The one who found out first said that there was a vague human smell in it." Dylan explained.
"Whoever did it should have known about you and have done research about it." Ryan said
"We don't know if they have any other poison in them just like this. We first have to find out about the person behind it." Evelyn said. She would feel Dylan gaze on her. He had only looked at her now.
As she looked at him, he moved his gaze to the other side. She saw him clenching his jaw.
"How long is your mission here?" Dylan asked
"One year mission, but they had no confidence that we would survive here. They thought that something bad would happen and we would die here" Evelyn replied.
"So you purposely signed a death mission" Xavier asked
"Kind off"
"This is the most safest world that you will ever encounter. Nobody's gonna attack you or harm you" Dylan said staring deeply into Evelyn's eyes.
"We will protect you" Evelyn felt a strange sensation on her stomach. As if the butterflies that she thought died long ago have come back alive.
She felt more like 'I will protect you'. A promise to her. Something she had never heard after her parents died.
Her hazel eyes didn't leave him as she stared at his blue ones. She wanted to know if he was joking. But his eyes made her realise that whatever he said he would do it without mistake.
They looked at eachother, their eyes staring deep into each other's soul like they were in their own world. The world around her was left into nothingness, all she would see and feel was his eyes.
Evelyn was snapped out of her daze by the sound of Xavier's coughing.
Did you profile the humans from this world?" Ryan asked
"Yes we checked. They are not." Xavier said.
Evelyn would understand that their technology was vastly more developed than the human world. They would have all the information stored about the people in this world. As it would be easier for anything like this to happen in future.
"So what's our plan?" Evelyn asked
