Evelyn and Aaron was sitting infront of Neil for the meeting
"This is an agreement that you have to sign before the meeting starts, whatever that has happened till now and whatever is happening and going to happen will never go to any other people other than people in this room otherwise you have to bear the consequences"
Neil said as he put documents in front of them.
They took their respective documents that had their names in it.
Silence followed the room as they was reading the five page document that he had provided.
'Confidential' was the letter that stood up first in the document. If the news goes out to the public, they have no idea how they would react. At first they have to study about the world.
Neil saw them consumed in reading it. Only thing that could be heard was the sound of flipping papers.
He saw Aaron singing the paper at first, followed by the rest.
"As everyone had signed it, I would like to say something" he said to bring there attention back
"This mission is a deadly mission."
Neil studied there faces. Evelyn had a straight face while Aaron had a little bit of excitement with fear
" We have no guarantee about what will happen, anything can happen. Even at the worst you both can die" he said as he heard the sound of sharp breaths.
"We have no idea about their world, all we know is a little bit of something. That little bit is not enough to know whether our life is at risk or not"
"So what i am saying is that i'm giving you a chance to back down"
And people who are going should be aware that THIS IS A DEADLY MISSION"
"But, why us?" Aaron asked
"You both are best in your field, moreover you both are close friends, so you both will take care of each other. Other than bringing any two stranger to the mission I thought its better to bring two friends as they would protect each other and would try to keep them safe"
What Neil said was true.
Even Though Neil wanted Evelyn and Aaron to be a part of the emission at the same time he wanted to give an option to her to back down.
"You can take your time to decide whether to be a part of it or not, as tomorrow is Saturday you can take one whole day to decide. And for the mission we are planning to start the training session from Sunday. And this whole weekend you would be having training. If you want to be part of it, you should be present here on Sunday 10 am, you have time till Sunday morning."
"Think about it thoroughly tomorrow and decide" he said
Now if you need any clarification you can enquire" he said as he looked at everyone. He had given time for them to prepare questions that are more logical rather than emotional.
"How do did you found about it" Evelyn asked
"You knew James, the department director. He is the one who found out about it. James would talk about it in the training session"
Neil still couldn't get clear picture on how James had found out about it
"We have a chip like thing. When it is taken to an exact vibration a portal will be opened. That portal take you to the other side of the world" Neil answered
The meeting continued with everyone asking enquiries and Neil answering the things that he knew about it. The questions they asked were mostly logical questions rather than emotional ones. There were questions that were quite emotional ones but it was only a few more than he expected.
He was sitting on his chair and looking at the ceiling after they all left. He took a remote and pressed one of the buttons. Soon the ceiling looked like a universe. With stars, galaxies, planets. He felt relieved seeing it. This was a deadly mission as he had said. He didn't lie about it.
He had once gone there and stayed for a whole night in that village. The life there was a lot like here, but something was different. He had talked to one of them. He felt a shiver passing through his body as he remembered it.
But he couldn't understand why James wanted Evelyn to be a part of it. Maybe Evelyn was the only one who can think straight without bringing her emotions into it. He had also heard from others about it, she never put her emotions in her work.
Even When the discussion was going on, he noted that Evelyn always had a poker face. Her eyes were emotionless. Only once in a while, there would be any emotion on her face. She only had emotion when she first heard about the news. A little excitement in her eyes that passes from time to time
But now as he had said that the mission was deadly there was no emotion in her eyes. No fear. Not even a flash of it
