Chapter 88 - Boogeyman 3

Pov Emerald

Kurumi and Neo didn't seem to want it either , so we just kept going to the floor above . There the situation became heated a few times when we had to stick to the wall when several people walked down the corridor . One time we almost got hit by an opening door . Apart from these few close encounters , we went on without much trouble , not forgetting of course to look at Neo from time to time to see if she manage tomaintain the illusion , or if something is wrong .

In the end it didn't take us much time to reach the second floor . In fact, it took us only three minutes from the moment we entered . Which looking at the fact that we entered here with limited information and virtually no preparation , was a good result .

On the second floor of the club was the office and VIP rooms . First we went to the office , which was surprisingly not guarded by anyone . Only a few cameras , which we easily fooled thanks to the Neo semblance.

And this is where another weakness of my own semblance is revealed . My semblance affects the reception of information in the brain , thus interfering with the senses . Cameras and other recorders do not have them so logically my tricks will not work on them.

But leaving that aside , because at this particular moment it is not important . To the office itself we could not enter because of the need for a key card that opened the door .

Throughout our little walk through this place, not once did we see a locked door, not to mention door locked with such technology.

Nowhere in the plans for the building was such a door mentioned , hence the surprise . Besides sight of such a complex lock in such a building surprised even Kurum . Although curiosity eats me to look what things are hidden in the office behind such security , unfortunately .... It was not our task .

But at least it also explained why there were no other security measures. The cameras guarding the place and the card needed to open the door were rather sufficient security measures as to protect this room . Besides , since there is a magnetic lock here , then alarms inside the room are also possible .

But now we can say that our luck was that so far we did not need such a card . If there had been a keycard door in the hallway we would have been stuck . However , it was quite obvious . After all , if other doors were so secured how many cards would be needed to operate this place ?

From where would they even get new cards , if any were lost or destroyed ? Such things are expensive . And no one would undertake to make new cards , at least legally since this building does not belong to the gang which occupies it ? Besides , the previous owner certainly would not have been able to afford to secure the place in such a way .

After all, it's just an abandoned club, if the electricity were ever cut off here, all the keycard doors would become useless, they would simply cut off the gang from their hideout. It is enough that the leader's office is already locked with a card .

Of course if we wanted , no door in this building would be able to stop us .Even if they had installed twenty of these types of doors . But that was not our task , our task is to find the target and eliminate it without making the enemy aware of our presence .

Therefore, until we were given a mission to get information from this place, entering this empty office was pointless.

Besides, already standing at the door we could confirm that the target was not inside . And we confirmed this thanks to a huge segmented window that stretched across the entire corridor leading to the office and was probably still in the office , forming a transparent wall giving a view of the entire club .

Precisely because the window overlooked the interior of the club , we saw everything perfectly . The window at the point where we were standing was above the DJ's place . Which meant it was high enough and central enough , so that you can see from it the entire dance floor , the bar and the second floor with the terrace , from which you can look at the dance floor and where all four VIP rooms were .

It was looking out from there , that we saw our target in one of the VIP rooms . On a half-circle , red couch , the view of which was slightly obscured by the two curtains of the room . We could clearly see our target with two half-naked women in his arms .

The fact that the VIP rooms looked like it was depicted on the plans of the building made us very happy. It's been a year since this gang took over this building from the owner who supposedly owed them monet . As for the authenticity of this information . They are confirmed by the Xiong themselves .

The old owner opened such a high quality club in such a decrepit and forgotten place . Therefore there is no wonder that the money ran out and the desperate guy who put all his money on this place had to borrow .

At the bank they would not give him a loan . Which was a logical decision on their part , looking at the fact that the business was already in decline and did not promise sudden popularity . Therefore, even with this loan it would be difficult to fix something . The bank also had to know that the location of the property was terrible , so even taking this property as a pledge , giving the guy a loan simply did not benefit them .

Therefore he went to the gang which is always a bad idea . And what happened to the guy who didn't pay ? It didn't concern me much , so I didn't listen anymore . However, I can guess that concrete shoes are not too nice for swimming .

But back to the topic of , why we are so happy that nothing has changed in the building ? This is because that during the year since the gang took over this place, they could change a lot inside . There could also be differences , as there is with this office door locked with an access card.

' Gang certainly could have create a secret room, wall off some passageways or change the VIP room to something more enclosed. Which would have made our lives more difficult. '

I think , knowing that entering and exiting a closed room full of people , would be much more difficult than entering the building itself . In fact, it would be impossible even for us . In the end, the back exit was guarded by only one person who I could deceive. With more people this trick would not work . So we would not even open the door without drawing the attention of everyone inside the room .

Of course, there were also many other difficulties other than the mere entrance . However, there is nothing to dwell on . Everything except the door to the office , is so far according to the building plan given to us by Junior . And where did Junior even get the plans for this building on ther first place ?

Of course he have it from the city hall , or more precisely from the archives where the plans of these newer buildings are kept because of building permits . Of course he could not just ask for the plans and get them . Xiong just know who to pay .

But coming back again to the important stuff . Beside our target in the VIP room , in front of the couch sat a man . His back was turned to us so determining who he was was unfortunately impossible . However, seeing that on the table between him and our target stood several glasses, it was obvious that they were talking.

Which also gave the impression that it was not someone random, but someone important enough to drink while talking with Gray. And the fact that our target is drinking with the other person , is also good news for us because it means that we don't have to think about the way in which we give him the poison .

In front of the room itself also stood two of Gray's men and one person from the gang of oblivion . However, it is not so important . Seeing all this and not wanting to waste more of our precious time, we left our place in front of the office and went to the terrace from where we could easily walk to the VIP room where our target is located.

Walking on the terrace , I could not resist to look over the railing at the empty dance floor of the club . There was no music or colorful lights typical of the club . In fact, there were not to many lights at all. This made the whole place quite dark .

' It's generally a strange sight .

I think looking around the club . The sight of a place that normally is always loud and full of people , now being so deserted and lifeless made something inside me feel strange .

' I guess this is called ' luminal space ' ? '

I think recalling the books , which Kurumi gave me to read for our self-education . While thinking about it , my attention was suddenly caught by the bar next to the dance floor , which was no longer so empty and lifeless .

I counted at least twenty people there . All but one person looked like people from the oblivion gang. According to our data, the oblivion gang alone has two hundred members so they are not a small crew . This place as their main hideout already showed that. Walking through this club we heard or saw at least another ten people . Which creates a total of about thirty-five or forty people , who we would have to bypass or kill if something went wrong .

The bar itself was like a normal bar in any other nightclub and people did at the bar what one does at a bar in a nightclub . The only thing that stood out in this bar, however, was that everyone kept quiet.

Some conversations took place there, but I could see that everyone was trying to bee as quiet as posible. Their behavior could only be explained by the man in the VIP room, who apparently talked about something important with the person sitting in front of him.

While my pondering continued , the three of us had already reached the meeting place in the VIP room . And surprisingly we did not hear any conversation . Gray and the men , who we could now recognize from the information given to us as the leader of the gang of oblivion , sat in silence looking deeply into each other's eyes .

In both of their eyes we could see the seriousness and tension , which was accumulating between them with every second . If only I hadn't been worried about destroying our entire secret operation I would have told them to kiss already . Of course in the context of a joke . They looked more like they were about to throw themselves at each other's throats , which was more intriguing in the context of what was going on here .

Kurumi was also apparently concerned about the volume of atmosphere because she did not immediately poison the target , who held in his hands a half-drank glass of alcohol and ice . As for what kind of alcohol . Looking at bottles , I could say that it was a good quality cider .

' And this is interesting choice . Looking at his suit and the general image of an arrogant son of a crime family , I would say that he would only drink wine or wisky . '

I think to myself , knowing that I may be a little too stereotypical . But seriously , Kurumi is now really just waiting for the right moment to administer the poison .

And that moment will come when Grey is close to taking a sip . After all , we can't let Grey put down the glass with poison , just for him to drink no more. We have only one dose of poison . If we waste it, everything we have done today will be for nothing . To avoid such a situation , Kurumi will wait until our target tries to take a sip . Then it will also poison the drink right under his nose .

As for the target realizing that someone is literally waving their hand in front of his face ? ... Thanks to me , we could strip him naked in the middle of town in the winter and he wouldn't even know we were there . Yes , it's my job to make sure the target doesn't know what's going on .

Besides, knowing Kurumi, she must be interested in the conversation of these two . Clearly there must be something serious about it since the atmosphere between them is so thick that it can be cut with a knife .

' Well eavesdropping on them is not a bad idea . I just hope Neo can hold her illusion . '

I muse , looking at Neo , who despite her calm expression seems a little tired . Which is understandable when she has been under pressure for so long .
