Chapter 808: Staying After the Disaster
While Qin Feng had been slaughtering, it was a completely different scenario in the world outside.
As the communicator contained energy, once there was an overlapping space they ceased functioning but the moment they left, everything was restored!
Aptitude users all had their strength restored and civilians could also contact other people, telling the others in a panic about their situation and the joy of being alive after all of that.
They felt as if they had returned to where they were supposed to be and were able to gain a peace of mind.
However this peace of mind soon brought along new worries.
"I can't reach my daughter's communicator, what should I do? Did my daughter not come out with us?"
"I shouldn't have let him go out, I just wanted to eat some barbecue. If he didn't go out, maybe we could have come out together!"
"Sir, when is the next rescue operation going to be?"
"Waaaah…I want my mommy, I want my mommy!"
The chaotic sounds all blended into one.
They had managed to escape their end, but their livelihoods were destroyed.
The city that they lived in, Chongluo City, had always been known for its fairly high safe factor, and that had been established for over fifty years.
That being said, the people born here were unaware of the dangers outside and had lived a comfortable life since birth.
And now, the city had fallen. They had no more homes, no more houses, no land to call their own.
There were deposits in their communicators, but these people had never left their own city before and did not know what the other places were like.
It was at this moment that a dialog box automatically popped up on their communicators.
Messages were posted with advanced authorization.
On the communicators' screens, someone who people saw as a breathtakingly beautiful woman appeared.
"Dear Chongluo City residents, I am the vice governor for the North Sea State of the Huaxia Alliance's Northern Region and I am specifically responsible for this rescue operation. On behalf of myself, I can only express my deepest sympathies for your experience. Later, we will contact the Zhongcheng Group's hover trains and take you to one of the three cities near Chongluo City! Choose any location!"
"You have another option, which is to follow the Fengli Organization to the North Sea State. The airships will take you to Fengli City free of charge. As compensation for the disaster, the Fengli Organization will provide accommodations and essentials and allow you to live tax free for the next ten years. Later, there will be a prompt on your communicators for you to decide!"
After Bai Li's speech was over, everyone's communicator screens shifted into a selection screen with the names of three different cities near Chongluo City and one of those choices was Fengli City!
These people did not even know where Feng Li City was!
However, they recalled that when they were scaling the metal stairway they saw four large words tacked onto it which read 'Made By Feng Li'.
Not only that, when they raised their heads they could see four airships hovering in the air. They were huge and vast and the signs on them blared brightly with two words, 'Feng Li'.
Whether it was before or now, they had this name deeply etched in their memory. So they made their choice, unless the other cities had people they could rely on, most of them chose Fengli City.
Meanwhile, there was still another group of people. This group was different.
Unlike the disorganized crowd, they were outside of a command vehicle. All of them were aptitude users and there were quite a number of them, going up to a thousand people.
Of course, they followed by terms of strength. The weakest ones stood at the perimeter, but they were all E-tier. That meant that they were qualified to be there.
There were D and C-tiers that made up the inner circle.
From the command vehicle, six B-tier aptitude users stepped out.
Jiang Haolin was the first to step out, followed by the first aptitude users to scale the stairs, Long Tao and Zhou Ce, and then finally Li Yuanshan, Guan Shan and Ning Xin who were the last aptitude users to exit.
The surrounding atmosphere was filled with tension.
"Jiang Haolin, are you seriously going to betray Lord Liu? Are you bored of living?" Li Yuanshan asked in a serious tone.
"There's no betrayal. I just resigned, so there's nothing wrong with that right?" Jiang Haolin simply replied.
Among the six people, he was the one who exited Chongluo City first and witnessed the most.
Liu Chong gave up on Chongluo City, the regent gave up on Chongluo City.
Only Qin Feng did not give up.
He had made the decision, this time he would leave with Qin Feng.
Besides, Jiang Haolin was not a member of the Huaxia Alliance's administration, he was just a patrol corps general. He was not the deputy duke like Guan Shan, nor a finance minister like Li Yuanshan.
"The duke also has situations that are beyond his power, don't you know? What's more you're the first one to escape, what do you have to say about that?" Li Yuanshan roared.
Li Yuanshan bore a grudge against Qin Feng. Naturally, he did not like Qin Feng and did not want him to develop further, gaining more and more subordinates. In his mind, it was better if Qin Feng died in that overlapped space.
Jiang Haolin let out a bitter laugh and said, "Yes, I can't refute the decision made by Lord Liu Chong, but without a single thought of returning? Obviously, he did not care about the people in the city, he did not care about aptitude users like you and I! You shouldn't be thanking your good luck, you should be thanking General Qin for not giving up, otherwise you would all be dead!"
"Jiang Bro, think about this again!"
"Yeah, don't be impulsive!"
Long Tao and Zhou Ce both spoke up. Although alarmingly dangerous, even if Lord Liu Chong was here what could he do, would he not be as powerless as them?
As for Qin Feng, they were naturally grateful, but he was just a B-tier ancient warrior with parallel training.
As for Jiang Haolin, who was also B-tier, he truly wanted to take refuge from the other person, they thought he had gone crazy.
Why did they follow Liu Chong? Was it not because Liu Chong's resources could be easily accessed and helped with their cultivation? Could Qin Feng do that?
Jiang Haolin looked at the disapproving faces of these two and knew what they were thinking. There was a smirk at the corner of his mouth, these people did not know how powerful Qin Feng was.
For this group of arrogant and defiant people who respected nobody but themselves, how would they understand?
Just that moment, another voice chimed in.
"I've decided to follow Brother Jiang!"
It was Ning Xin!
Ning Xin was really stunned by Qin Feng. He had heard some news about him, an ability user who was also an ancient warrior, wielding both fire and dark abilities. The weakest note about him was that he was the number one prodigy.
More importantly, when the others were powerless, Qin Feng, being a parallel martial artist, still rushed into the danger zones to rescue people.
In the last fight, Qin Feng's outstanding marksmanship was what stood out the most to Ning Xin.
This person was beyond a genius, he was a straight up demon.
Maybe Qin Feng was B-tier now, but it would only be a matter of time before he reached A tier. What was more, he might reach a level that they could only look up to but never see a trace of!
S-tier!
Ning Xin decided to place his bets on him!
Chapter 809: Liu Chong Arrives
That being said, Ning Xin's decision stunned the people present.
"Boss Ning, what are you…" Zhou Ce gave Ning Xin a wary look. He never expected that Ning Xin would make such a decision.
Ning Xing did not say anything else, but he was determined. As a result, that got the other two ability users to start thinking about it as well.
***
In the overlapped space.
On the central square, in a lake of blood, there was only one person standing on that spot.
The blade in his hand did not have a trace of blood on it, but his entire person seemed to have been swimming in that blood lake, drenched head to toe in it.
Blood dripped from the ends of his hair, dropping onto his clothes and mixing into the gore as it disappeared.
"Hu!"
Qin Feng exhaled a foul breath, what he inhaled was still the pungent stench of carnage.
He did not care though. Before his rebirth, there were countless battles like this. The blood had seeped into his bones a long time ago. It was a familiar taste.
In Chongluo City, the ultra beasts on the surface had disappeared and there were bodies and blood everywhere.
This battle had temporarily ended, there were no spatial rifts opening and there was nothing present that would attract other ultra beasts!
However, the city was bound to be different!
The corpses of the ultra beasts left behind might eventually become a nest for insectoids, allowing them to thrive in the future.
It was a crisis of extinction.
Qin Feng turned his head and swept around the city. No one seemed to be looking for help.
Maybe they saw the beast tide and did not want to come out again, or think about trying to leave.
It was because the fear of death made them give up on the opportunity!
"I'll go back first to clean up myself! Better bring someone over!" Qin Feng thought to himself. He also had many plans for an overlapped space.
With that in mind, he lifted up his heavy feet and climbed up the stairs. From the start of the battle until now, he had exhausted a huge amount of physical energy and without the Absorption Ability he was not able to recover the lost energy.
It was just an upward staircase and it took Qin Feng three minutes to reach the top. He looked very worn out. If he went up with his previous speed, he would have finished within a few seconds.
Finally, after passing through the dark spatial passage, Qin Feng felt that everything had become different.
Internal force and consciousness instantly returned to his body, or in better words, they were inside his body the whole time but they were sealed and unable to be used.
Now, everything was back!
Not only that, there was a humming sound coming from the Verdant Emperor Saber at this moment and there seemed to be a drastic change!
Before Qin Feng could investigate, a powerful aura came welling over, exerting its pressure.
An A-tier aptitude user.
It was not Qin Feng who could feel it, all the other aptitude users felt it at that moment as well.
In the sky, someone was stepping through the air, coming from a place not too far away.
This place was the spatial beacon site for Chongluo City.
As they got closer and closer, some people recognized this figure's identity.
Chongluo City's duke, Liu Chong!
Previously, during the city's descent into chaos, he did not come. Now that a few people had been rescued, he decided to show up!
No matter how you looked at it, the arrival of this person would bring a great unforeseen event to many people.
At this time, a group of people had already boarded Qin Feng's hover cars. This included a significant number of low-end aptitude users.
These aptitude users were not very strong but there was hope for them in the future. Between them, they would be the ones to receive more news than the civilians.
They knew that Liu Chong did not send anyone to rescue them, in fact nobody came to rescue them. Only the Fengli Organization did.
That last stairway operation had given them a great impression about this group.
Liu Chong's arrival drew the attention of many people at that moment. He too saw the situation and asked in a deep voice, "Where is the person in charge? This decision you've made, where are you sending these people?"
On the airship's platform, Bai Li had already noticed Qin Feng, so she was the first to transmit the word to him and told him of her decision!
Qin Feng did not feel that there was anything wrong with what she did and nodded in agreement. Only then he used his internal force to amplify his voice and announced,
"I am Qin Feng, the president of the Fengli Organization and I am responsible for everything here."
This time he did not use his title of a Huaxia Alliance General.
That was because Liu Chong abandoned Chongluo City and Shang Han also revoked the mission. Qin Feng remained, representing himself while Bai Li represented the Fengli Organization when she arrived.
He continued, "I have ordered that the rescued refugees choose which nearby city they wish to go to, or they can choose to return to Fengli City with me!"
Liu Chong's gaze fell onto Qin Feng, his brow furrowed and he seemed very displeased with Qin Feng's blood-soaked appearance.
The blood on him was just the blood of low-level ultra beasts. So what if you slaughtered so many, just so you can take credit?
Liu Chong spoke with some discontent, "Why should they go with you? They should all stay, as long as there are people here a city can be built after some time. After half a month, we can just build a new Chongluo City!"
After all, Liu Chong also needed his subordinates. The people provided by his subordinates should preferably come from the city, otherwise he would have to spend more resources recruiting subordinates from other places.
Of course, when Liu Chong returned the most important thing he wanted to deal with was the six B-tiers aptitude users that escaped.
That was what he cared about the most.
If not a single one of them was alive, he would not even bother. If one person came out, he would think about coming up with some arrangements. If all of them came out, then not bothering with them was out of the question!
"As for you, I'll tell the regent about this mission to give you some commendation!" Liu Chong waved his hand dismissively at Qin Feng as if to wave away some beggar, as if trying to make him go away!
Qin Feng's expression suddenly changed.
"I am here acting on behalf of myself and on behalf of my organization. I have the right to deal with the people I rescued and they have the right to choose if they want to stay or leave. This matter is not up to you alone!"
Liu Chong angrily glared at Qin Feng. "Who do you think you're talking to? Who do you think you are to dare speak to me that way?"
Qin Feng mocked in a lower tone, "Who do you think you are? Chongluo City's duke? Your city is now in an overlapped space and has disappeared from this plane. If you want to show your worth then go ahead and go save the remaining people!"
Liu Chong let out a laugh, "You think once you rescue them you can control what these people are thinking? Then ask now, do they still want to leave?"
Qin Feng replied, "Fine, let's try that!"
He lifted his head to Bai Li and said, "Re-open the poll for everyone and show what their choices are!"
Bai Li nodded and sent out the message without hesitation.
This time, after the last choice, there was one more!
That was to 'Rebuild Chongluo City'!
Chapter 810: What's the Actual Capability
There were options available to go to Fengli City, other cities, or rebuild Chongluo City.
Three options were given to everyone, even Liu Chong, the duke of Chongluo City, had received it on his communicator.
Furthermore, there was also an additional entitlement for selection.
"All of you can choose again!"
Bai Li's voice was channelled in every direction.
She was not using any seduction abilities, but it was her natural born look that everyone looked forward to.
Bai Li's beauty was unforgettable from the first sight. If it was not because of her ability that had blurred the impressions of the others, with only her appearance, she could have already achieved higher recognition than Qin Feng.
Now that Bai Li had made the announcement, everyone seemed to have recalled Bai Li's look when she was announcing earlier.
Meanwhile, the civilians and the aptitude users were presented with another opportunity to make their choice.
The duke of Chongluo City was before them, but everyone was unfamiliar with his face.
Especially for the civilians, or even the D-tier aptitude users, none of them were qualified to witness the A-tier aptitude user!
"Rebuild Chongluo City? Well…but there is free shelter at Fengli City, compared to rebuilding Chongluo City, perhaps the city would offer less job opportunities, I rather not do that!"
"There will be tasks assigned to us, and the benefits are still unknown, but the Fengli Organization is such a well-known entity, and it is developing quite well, it is better to go to Fengli City!"
"I don't care, I will select Fengli City!"
"I am not afraid of offending anyone, the duke would definitely not remember me, I am just a poor person, I choose Fengli City!"
All of them had already selected Fengli City earlier. As soon as Liu Chong appeared, his voice was directly embedded with internal strength and channelled to everyone's ear. He sounded arrogant and righteous to his claims. It had caused unpleasant feelings toward many, but they were afraid of voicing out their anger.
Qin Feng had already mentioned that it was his personal action, and the others were given the option to select for themselves.
Some of them noticed that Liu Chong was there to claim the ripe fruits!
Qin Feng was the one who had rescued them, and Liu Chong only arrived later to claim his share on the rewards, like he was genuinely entitled for a free lunch.
Furthermore, when looked at from a wider perspective, it was Qin Feng who had saved them. The Fengli Organization had saved them, and their saviour was still standing on the stairway blood-soaked, how could they not be grateful of the sacrifice?
Hence, those who had selected Fengli City were more affirmed with their decision. All of a sudden, the percentage score of the first option surged higher, it was already above eighty percent.
At that moment, those who were still undecided began to choose Fengli City. Even those who were still considering to head to other cities had re-evaluated their choice, Fengli City seemed to be a better option.
Liu Chong's speeches and actions were like commands from a top position. He was unaware that since he abandoned Chongluo City, those people had left Chongluo City and the overlapped space. All of them no longer belonged to his city nor his civilians, they were a bunch of freemen.
Everyone quickly made their choice, and the percentage was kept high above every other option. However, there were still some that assumed that opportunities in the emptied Chongluo City would be in abundance for them, and perhaps they might get their chance to become one of the elders.
With such hope in mind, some of them hesitated for a long time and finally made their decision to pick the third option!
However, the final comparison was still shockingly one-sided.
To Fengli City: Seventy-four percent
To other cities: Four percent
Rebuild Chongluo City: Twenty-two percent
The comparison left Liu Chong infuriated.
It was exactly a slap onto his own face.
He suffered the same amount of embarrassment as the excessive confidence that he had earlier.
It had only been several days, and unexpectedly all of them had switched sides. Liu Chong had no idea what had actually caused such a massive shift in those people.
After all, all of them had lived there for many years!
"Great, alright alright alright, go, just a bunch of ants, I don't even care!" Liu Chong mocked emotionlessly.
Meanwhile, several aptitude users exited from a commanding truck.
Liu Chong descended from the sky when he saw those B-tier aptitude users, and he was slightly relieved.
"Glad that all of you are alright, Ning Xin, gather the remaining people, let's rebuild Chongluo City!" Liu Chong commanded.
Ning Xin immediately reacted with an unusual expression and looked toward Qin Feng.
Qin Feng saw Ning Xin's expression and noticed that he had something to tell, he immediately reacted and got down from the stairway.
Qin Feng had not cleaned up the bloodstains. Even if he had cleaned them up, perhaps he would still need to change his worn-out combat fatigues to cover up the torn tapes on his body, it was too much of a hassle for him.
As soon as he got down, everyone in the surrounding gave way for a path to pass through, it was a showcase of their reverence, and also their fear!
Qin Feng's blood-soaked shadow was intimidating the surrounding with his terrifying presence.
Qin Feng moved forward, and his ear was embedded with internal strength that allowed him to hear Ning Xin. As Ning Xin saw Qin Feng walking over, he became more inclined to speak up, "Master Liu, Chongluo City has been ruined. I have been striving for the city for years, now, I want to explore around."
During those years, in return for a stable and secure life, he had stayed and guarded the city for Liu Chong. It was indeed easy and comfortable, but he still wished to go into battles, and fights. Perhaps he could have died, or perhaps he could have already achieved A-tier!
Furthermore, from the option that he had selected earlier, he had already made up his mind to go to Fengli City.
It was an undeniable fact.
Among the others, Jiang Haolin had also made the same decision.
Liu Chong could no longer stand it anymore!
"What are you talking about?" Liu Chong stared hard, an intense intimidating pressure exploded and oppressed Ning Xin.
Ning Xin was immediately silenced as he fell back a few steps.
It was at that moment, Qin Feng intercepted in between.
"Master Liu, hold on, there are civilians around, your oppressive aura might harm the innocent!" Qin Feng circulated his internal strength and instantly nullified Liu Chong's oppressive aura, and it seemed to have been done effortlessly.
However, Liu Chong was obviously livid. He no longer cared about those restrictions. In his angered response, "Alright, figures, you are backed by an extraordinary person that you have recruited. It has only been days, and you have already influenced my subordinate to switch to your side!"
Qin Feng answered in his calm and deep voice, without any intention to explain the relation, "It is their own choice, I am not interfering in any form, but I do believe they have made the right choice!"
Qin Feng's first statement was not intended to explain the relation, and neither was it supporting Ning Xin's decision in any way!
But the last statement stated before Liu Chong almost seemed to be a provocation.
Qin Feng definitely had the intention to influence his subordinates to switch sides.
Liu Chong laughed in anger, "Have they made the right choice? You are just a B-tier aptitude user, and you are only able to enter into the overlapped space with parallel training. I would like to find out what you have up your sleeves to face off with me!"
Liu Chong declared his menacing statement as he shifted his vision toward Ning Xin, and he looked threatening and fierce.
"I will expose to you the true capability of the person that you wish to follow!"
Chapter 811: Want to Test My Capability?
"My capability? I don't need assurance from others, Master Liu, are you saying that you want a battle against me?" Qin Feng asked in a deep voice.
Qin Feng was not afraid of any face-off against others.
While Liu Chong was also in a fearless state, fuelled by his ignorance of his opponent's capability.
"Exactly!" Liu Chong put up a direct answer.
Although there were a lot of rumours related to Qin Feng's mighty battle scores, the details were kept from many.
It was totally normal, as Qin Feng would not declare the details out loud by himself.
His first battle with an A-tier aptitude user was at the Abyssal Ocean's Divine Mountain. There were only several that had returned, and none of them was aware that Qin Feng had killed an undead puppet beastmaster that could go against S-tiers.
The second encounter was at the Amazon Alliance, the continuous loss of a great number of A-tier aptitude users had forced the Amazon Alliance to hide the news at all cost. The situation was only stabilized by summoning back assistance from other regions, even the S-tiers were about to get involved in handling Qin Feng.
The third encounter was none other than the Black Citadel, where Qin Feng had killed thirty in one breath. He then continued with his venture into Hell Island, another insurmountable slaughter had then taken place!
All three encounters were hidden from the public eyes, even news about all of the incidents were concealed by the higher management.
Since Liu Chong had been following an S-tier, he had not been following incidents happening in Huaxia. If it was not because of Jiang Haolin who had contacted him with a special method on the development of the situation, he would have not come back.
Hence, Liu Chong only knew Qin Feng from his recent years of rising up as a new talent. He was not even aware of Qin Feng's hero class title from last year, he would also not care about a B-tier that he could easily crush.
Surprisingly, the B-tier was now provoking him!
Liu Chong absolutely wanted to give Qin Feng a lesson.
Bam!
Liu Chong stomped on the ground; his entire body launched into the air as he flew up into the sky.
Liu Chong's qinggong skill was showcased at its finest.
After several breaths, Liu Chong had already arrived at the lower peak of a hill a thousand meters away.
Qin Feng looked toward Liu Chong. He did not hesitate, it was a fight that he had to stand up to.
He could afford to forgo several of the B-tiers that wished to follow him, but he could not afford to do the same to the larger crowd.
How would it be righteous for Liu Chong, who had done nothing, to just come declare his "rights" and lead the crowd away?
Qin Feng had definitely not seen such an unjustifiable deal before. Whether it was before his rebirth, or after, his temperament had not changed at all, he would definitely not lose out to such injustice.
Swoosh swoosh swoosh!
Qin Feng demonstrated his qinggong skills, transforming into an array of opaque shadows. Within several breaths, he had already arrived at the peak of a hill opposite Liu Chong.
Both of them were at the peaks of lower hills, named as Sisters Hill, with their connected part stretched from the centre, forming into an M shape with an interval gap of about five hundred meters.
It would be impossible for any ordinary B-tier to extend their attacks to the opposite side, but with the internal strength or ability of an A-tier, it was a piece of cake to crush the opponent from the opposite.
"Do you really want to fight me like this? Aren't you afraid that you might die in a horrible way?" Liu Chong warned emotionlessly using his internal strength.
Qin Feng answered, "You have no idea about my capability, are you sure you want to do this? I'm afraid that it might not be a favourable ending for you, Master Liu!"
Qin Feng sounded harsh in his answer, but he was also genuinely trying to persuade with kind intentions.
Also, from the position where he stood, it was five hundred meters away, he had already decided not to face-off against Liu Chong in a hard fight.
Or else, with only a slight impact from Phantom Shift paired with Verdant Emperor Saber, Liu Chong would have already died on the spot.
"You sure talk big!" Liu Chong was livid, his voice was embedded with internal strength, and it was humming like rolling thunder.
Meanwhile, aptitude user witnesses at Chongluo city were struck dumb by the unexpected situation, their saviour that had saved them earlier was about to battle Duke Liu Chong.
"President Qin is about to fight Master Liu, is he able to win the fight against Master Liu? He is just a B-tier!"
"Although President Qin is only wearing a B-tier badge, based on his leaked internal strength, he is definitely above B-tier, and much more powerful than that!"
"But that is still not enough!"
"I have heard about President Qin, he seemed to have killed many A-tier aptitude users, but the news was not disclosed to the public."
"If that is the case, would Master Liu be hurt? Also, Master Liu is backed by a powerful S-tier!"
Discussions began to spark among the crowd, while Qin Feng who was on the field maintained his firm posture and declared, "Master Liu, both of us are members of the Human Alliance, regardless of the intention, it would definitely be inappropriate for us to battle each other, why not we have an agreement?"
Liu Chong answered with a cold voice, "Isn't it too late to put a halt to this escalated situation?! But I can agree with that, after all, it was Shang Han who sent you, and I am supposed to keep my respects to her!"
Obviously, Liu Chong assumed that Qin Feng was trying to dodge the battle with his excuse.
But Liu Chong also felt that Qin Feng was right, it was obviously inappropriate for them to engage into a deadly fight, even if Liu Chong wanted to teach Qin Feng a lesson, it was unnecessary for him to kill Qin Feng.
"Facing such provocation, I would just need to win the battle and re-establish my reputation to even greater than before, and it is also a good time to re-evaluate those subordinates!"
Such evaluation would definitely include rationing resources to lower the supply!
Especially to Ning Xin.
Qin Feng saw that Liu Chong had agreed, he then nodded. "If so, let's have the hills as our boundaries, whoever goes down will then lose!"
Liu Chong accepted the offer immediately, "Deal, if you lose, you have to get lost and return to your so-called Fengli City. As for the reward for this rescue, since you have mentioned that it is your own decision, I will also not report to Shang Han!"
Qin Feng did not care about those reward at all, he immediately continued, "If you lose, you will no longer have the right to be involved with Chongluo City that has been struck by the spatial overlap."
"Deal!"
"Recording done, then let's have a good fight!"
Meanwhile, more than ten unmanned drones had already flocked toward the surrounding to capture the battle scene from all angles. Aptitude users were able to utilize internal strengths and abilities to observe situations from far away, but civilians were unable to do so.
However, their battle would be directly broadcasted to everyone's communicator around the scene. They had even connected to the battle net and immediately published the recordings, it had already been viewed by countless viewers!
The reason was because it was a battle against an A-tier ancient warrior.
In the entire world, A-tiers were highly ranked to their esteemed positions, and every A-tier would be symbolized as the presence of prestige and the highest command.
In the absence of S-tiers, A-tiers would be recognized as kings.
The A-tiers were revered and upheld by countless numbers of aptitude users below their feet.
Especially for ancient warriors, observing battles of powerful figures would allow them to understand further on battle skills.
"Qin Feng, I respect your courage, but I will not hold back on this!"
Liu Chong looked toward the surrounding unmanned drones, and he realized that the battle would allow him to help spread his reputation far and wide.
He raised his hand, a long sword was drawn, he then withdrew a ring from his spatial rune equipment and placed it in his hand.
Then, he turned his wrist and pointed the sword toward Qin Feng.
"Deca Kendo Strike!"
Chapter 812: Ultimate Battle Skill Showdown
Deca Kendo Strike originated from the Huaxia Alliance ancient warrior system. It was a battle skill that would allow one to achieve S-tier.
Even lower tier ancient warriors were able to practice Deca Kendo Strike. After all, the skill advancement was uncapped, releasing a sword was also one of the styles from Deca Kendo Strike, similar to releasing a hundred swords, or a thousand swords.
However, in order to achieve S-tier battle skill for Deca Kendo Strike, it would require at least ten thousand swords.
The battle skill was already long published within the Huaxia Alliance, and it was recorded that there were six people among the S-tiers that had mastered the skill. Long Ting was one of them, he was the duke of Dragon Capital, and figurehead of the entire Huaxia Alliance.
However, He Tianxing, who had mastered duelling swords, had also mastered the same skill!
Being a follower of an S-tier aptitude user, Liu Chong would definitely have mastered Deca Kendo Strike, and he had mastered it quite formally, even without achieving S-tier. His formidable Deca Kendo Strike would at least be above A-tier.
At that moment, countless eyes were wide open, wanting to witness the powerful release of the battle skill. They were overwhelmed by emotions, it was like they would certainly be able to learn something from the battle.
It was the highly regarded A-tier Deca Kendo Strike!
At the same moment, the long sword floated before Liu Chong, faintly shivering while humming. The sword then expanded like a fan, shaped into hollow shadows, and the fan was at least made up from seven long swords.
They then expanded outward.
Humm humm humm!
Tens of thousands of swords hummed altogether, striking everyone with goosebumps.
Within several breaths, there were already thousands of sword shadows that were formed before Liu Chong. All of them were transformed into physical matter from internal strength, embedded with extremely powerful attack power, covering the sky and ground. It was even sufficient to crush its opponent's hill.
"Go!"
Liu Chong had great confidence in himself, it would only require a single strike for him to demolish his opponent's hill. By that time, Qin Feng would be left with no choice but to retreat.
Sustained by the constant fueling of horrifying internal strength embedded into the kendo gust strike, it was like an oceanic amount of internal strength from an A-tier ancient warrior, approaching in torrential waves.
The powerful gusty wave assaults were blatant, although it was a thousand miles away, its presence was still unbearable.
The crowd was worried for Qin Feng.
But at the same moment, Qin Feng had also raised up his Verdant Emperor Saber in hand.
The moment his Verdant Emperor Saber was drawn out, it was humming, like something was bothering it, wanting to be set free from its body, to glide out and fly away.
When constrained within the spatial overlap, the Verdant Emperor Saber had not reacted this way, simply because it was unable to sense energy within the space.
However, could it be that those ultra beasts that died within the space would lose their soul energy?
No, it would still be there, and they were all absorbed by the Verdant Emperor Saber.
The Soul-lock Stone embedded on the Verdant Emperor Saber had firmly imprisoned the souls, while they were still trying to set themselves free and devour everything in sight.
"Spirit Chain Rend!"
Qin Feng embedded his internal strength into the Verdant Emperor Saber, it was his first time setting off his newly mastered S-tier battle skill.
He did not control the number of souls within the Soul-lock Stone, all of them were activated altogether.
Qin Feng's internal strength was like a great flood that had broken through the dam, gushing down from above. Every soul was embedded with a slight amount of internal strength, and now, within Qin Feng's Soul-lock Stone, how many souls were there?
The occurrence of the spatial overlap had brought on a massacre to ultra beasts, tens of thousands had died, or at least eight thousand had died.
All of a sudden, the sky and the ground faded from their original colour tone. An array of greyish dark colour exploded from Qin Feng's Verdant Emperor Saber, when looked closely, it was made up from translucent hollow shadows of different ultra beasts.
They were the souls of the ultra beasts!
Qin Feng's dantian lake was instantly emptied by more than half.
Ten lakes…
A hundred lakes…
Three hundred lakes…
Roar roar roar!
Hollow shadows became more solidified as the sky and ground continued to become discoloured. Howling gales swept across the land, at that moment, the witnessing crowd was struck by horrifying cold chills down their back.
Such a terrifying battle skill.
Those who were worried for Qin Feng were jaw-dropped as they stared on from afar.
The battle between the two was completely unrestrained.
Humming kendo gust, howling soul shadows, both finally collided together.
The kendo gust pierced through the spirit shadows, while the spirit shadows swallowed the kendo gust. Attacks from both sides were quickly nullified, and had they even accumulated into a massive explosion. Expanded internal strength then swept across plants on the hills, giant trees were uprooted, and grass and branches were blended into pieces.
It was insanely horrifying.
It was a jaw-dropping moment to witness such a destructive force annihilating the ground to a perished land.
Then, the world-shaking entanglement had instantly come to an end, and the winner was immediately determined.
Undoubtedly, Qin Feng's ultra beast shadows were too overwhelming, too horrifying. The kendo gust was oppressed by those growling hollow shadows as they swarmed and rushed toward Liu Chong.
Liu Chong was instantly rammed out by the hollow shadows.
"Pfft!"
Liu Chong vomited a mouthful of blood as his entire body was tossed up high and he rolled down the hill. The remaining souls were controlled by Qin Feng and slammed onto the peak of the hill!
"Boom vroom vroom vroom vroom!"
The hill and the ground were shaken, and the entire hill was flushed by constant attacks. Soils were overturned, it was like a landslide, and the peak was being destroyed.
Dust gusted across while a cool breeze swept through, and the chaotic scene had settled down. The crowd witnessed that Qin Feng was still at his original spot, but the opposite Sisters Hill was trimmed off by more than ten meters in height.
The entire peak was no longer in jade green colour, it was transformed into a dark yellow tone, and obviously it was because of the overturned soil.
Halfway up the hill, a shadow of a person rose up, surrounded by an internal strength shield, but blood was trickling down the edge of his mouth.
It was Liu Chong.
"Master Liu, you have lost!"
The voice was channelled across and awakened everyone from the shock, an outcry was heard.
Unexpectedly, Liu Chong had lost!
An A-tier aptitude user, a person who had mastered the Deca Kendo Strike, a powerful figure who had mastered it to the essence, and yet, he had unexpectedly lost in the face-off against Qin Feng, and it was a crushing defeat.
In Liu Chong's eyes, he was confused and disorientated, caught by mixed feelings of anger and terror, and struck by the pain from his internal injury.
After a moment of silence, Liu Chong then spoke up.
"I admit to the defeat!"
Liu Chong was almost clenching his teeth up to his back molar tooth, he swallowed the surging blood and made his statement. He knew that he had been completely defeated, and he had lost all of his reputation.
The place was heaven for the winner, and yet hell for the loser!
Liu Chong raised his hand, and a spatial waymark was activated. He no longer cared about those who had chosen to stay and rebuild Chongluo City, without any hesitation, he stepped into the spatial passage and left the place.
As soon as he had left, people from the Fengli Organization immediately cried out their cheers.
"Fengli is victorious!"
"President Qin is victorious!"
"Long live President Qin!"
Those who had decided to follow Qin Feng also smiled, they had made the right choice, and even betted on the correct fortune. In the future, they would definitely be led by a powerful figurehead. They just needed to follow his footsteps, and it would definitely be the correct move.
The shadow of the blood-soaked person was then held high in their hearts, a person who they would admire, and a person that was untouchable.
Meanwhile, news of the battle had taken over the battle net. Every aptitude user of the Huaxia Alliance was shocked, and it had also triggered a wave of uproar.
Chapter 813: A Rise to Fame
"Liu Chong is an A1-tier ancient warrior. A superbly talented champion. His Deca Kendo Strike is rather unmatched too! And yet, someone like him would lose to this kid?! Just who is this young man?!"
"Don't you know? That's Qin Feng! He's the prodigy from last year!"
"Prodigy? Come on, be real! How could a mere young prodigy like that grow so much in just a year? To the point where he could beat Liu Chong?"
"Oh, you've been missing out, man! Lemme tell you his recent feats…"
Discussions and gossip started to spread like wildfire. Qin Feng's recent feats, as a result, began to spread vast and wide to various cities in just a day.
The video of him beating Liu Chong had been watched by various ancient warriors again and again because it was a really good material for reference when one was to fight champions.
Many were curious about the martial arts that Qin Feng used in the fight too.
Just what kind of secret technique did he use to beat this A-tier's S-tier martial arts?
Some ability users used their abilities and equipment to playback the whole fight in slow-motion. As everyone was impressed by the great display of Qin Feng's skills, one person started to mumble to himself.
"This… looks like the fabled Wanzhong's Spirit Chain Rend?"
Many knew about this Spirit Chain Rend. It was from a tale that many told one another from hundreds of years ago. Every S-tier in the Huaxia Alliance was the talk amongst others in their lands. Some of their feats were retold so much that it became something of an urban legend.
"Hmm, this does look like the Wanzhong's Spirit Chain Rend. But… Qin Feng's Spirits looked more beastly while Lin Wanzhong's Spirits were all humanoids!"
"Well, this is quite understandable. Lin Wanzhong was a devil who murdered millions of people! This was how he perfected his Spirit Chain Rend—by using human souls. This was also why so many S-tiers got together to take him down back then!"
"Wow, so Qin Feng has mastered this legendary martial art? That's impressive!"
"Indeed. And martial arts aren't good nor evil. It all depends on who uses it. Unlike that murderer Lin Wanzhong, Qin Feng utilized the souls and spirits of the ultra beasts that he had slain. It just shows that when in the hands of a good man, a martial art has the potential to do good."
Upon hearing this, the others nodded in agreement. No one had a problem in Qin Feng using this so-called "evil art" that came from a murderer.
Nonetheless, there were still some people who were paying a keen interest on Qin Feng's mastery of the Spirit Chain Rend.
***
On the 9th Floor of the Dragon Capital.
Long Yue, Long Yunyi and a rather elegant looking woman were sitting together in a room, watching a large screen.
"It's only been a while since we parted. And yet, he has already mastered it!" Long Yunyi sighed.
Long Yue nodded with a stern expression on his face.
Meanwhile, a beam of smile curved up on the woman's face. "So, this is Qin Feng, huh? Interesting!"
***
In a fancy club in the Dragon Capital, dozens of clan leaders were gathering for a dinner.
Suddenly, they received a message before switching on a big screen. The screen showed Qin Feng and Liu Chong's fight.
The joyous dinner turned into a dull torment.
Their faces were all grim and pale.
"So… remember we said we'd give Qin Feng 3 years?" One of the leaders opened his mouth.
They all then recalled that moment. They could not help but feel the sting of irony on their faces.
"3 years? I thought he was just stalling for time after all those bluffs. Now that I think about it… perhaps it was him that gave us a chance to save our faces. He didn't even need 3 years. We can't even touch him after just one year!"
"That Fengli Organization is going to be a goliath corporation in no time."
Everyone then sighed in defeat. They were thankful that they did not openly cross Qin Feng at the time. They were thankful that they hesitated when they got the chance to cross him.
If not, they would be totally ruined.
Now, no one in their group dared to touch Qin Feng ever again.
***
There was a cascade of tremors rocking the Huaxia Alliance and even the Dark Coalition.
However, these were all not of Qin Feng's interest at the moment.
After Liu Chong left, Qin Feng could finally relax and get back to his aircraft.
However, as soon as he stepped into the aircraft, Qin Feng instinctively felt a surge of danger in the air. Every thread of nerve in his body was perked up for another fight to the death.
Qin Feng's consciousness immediately locked onto one person in the airship.
That person too did not bother to hide his presence. Instead, he stood up and walked straight toward Qin Feng, approaching him as if it was just business as usual.
Qin Feng's face turned grim. "What the hell are you doing on my ship?"
Z did not mind Qin Feng's hostility at all. Instead, he stood there and looked at Qin Feng's bloodied body with keen interest.
Qin Feng's mouth twitched as he raged in anger, "Do you think those ultra beasts could take me on? The blood is theirs, not mine!"
A clear disappointment crept onto Z's face.
Qin Feng did not want to entertain him at all. However, it was true that he still needed to report the results of his mission to Z. As such, he said, "Wait here. We need to talk about that mission of yours."
"Oh? But you haven't brought the Devourer back though?"
"There's a change in circumstances!" After leaving another word impatiently, Qin Feng walked into his private cabin to clean himself up.
Despite having the blood washed up and having a change of new clothes, Qin Feng still could not completely wash the stench and presence of ultra beasts' blood off him. If there were young children standing near him right now, they would all weep out in fear and pass out. Thankfully, there were no children around at the moment.
After coming back to the airship's lobby, Qin Feng noticed that Bai Li was not back yet. She seemed to still be busy handling the refugees.
As such, Qin Feng sat on the sofa and had a stare-down with Z. These two were only acquainted for a short time but they were definitely not on friendly terms.
A moment later, Qin Feng told Z about Chu Fan.
"This boy seemed to be someone you kidnapped. And he is very well-versed in the subject of spatial overlap. You better watch out because he will devour everything in his path and come back to seek revenge on you!"
"Chu Fan? I don't know who that is. Still, this boy seems to be a really interesting research sample. If he dares to come out of the spatial overlap, I'll definitely retrieve him for further research."
Qin Feng frowned. "If this entire thing is not done under your orders, then can't you at least order your underlings to exercise some restraint?"
Z did not seem to care at all after listening to what Qin Feng had to say though. To him, research and scientific advancement for mankind were the most important thing on this planet.
Besides, a genius like Z was used to closing doors of opportunities wherever he went—after all, he was blessed enough to be a genius. Men like him were never short of opportunities.
This was also why Z was so self-centered and severely lacked empathy.
"Well, even though the Devourer is gone, I realized that this overlapped realm is quite a fascinating research subject. Perhaps we could get something much better than the Devourer too! Okay, a change of plans! I want you to bring some living samples for me from the overlapped realm. If you can do it, then I'll call it even. Oh, you've also humiliated Li Xiao's lackey earlier, right? If you want, I could help you deal with them if they come harassing you."
Qin Feng was stunned when he heard this. However, he quickly recovered his composure and asked, "Li Xiao? You mean that S-tier that Liu Chong swore allegiance to?"
Z nodded. "This man is a genius. A true genius in martial arts. He was the best prodigy I've known in his younger days. Of course, he's quite wary of the emergence of other talented people because he does not want anyone to replace him. So, you better watch your six."
Qin Feng's face turned grim.
He did not know just how true Z's words were. However, he did not know any "genius S-tier prodigy" whose name was "Li Xiao".
Unless he did not use his real name when he was out in the world.
Unless he used some other aliases.
Li Xiao, S-tier, a genius.
Then, a name popped up in Qin Feng's head!
Chapter 814: Prince Xiao
"Prince Xiao!"
Qin Feng breathed out the name as though it was a spell incantation.
Z nodded and smiled. "Li Xiao is really powerful. The Li family once had a champion so great that he almost became a supreme champion. In fact, I don't know if that man is really dead or not."
Qin Feng stared at Z speechlessly.
Information like this was something even the pre-reborn Qin Feng could not get a hold of.
Z then looked at Qin Feng intently. "So, you better get stronger quickly. If not, the Li family would definitely try laying you to waste. They would never allow another person to become the supreme champion!"
Despite feeling great shock, Qin Feng mocked up a calm look.
Humans would rise up selflessly to protect one another when in time of crises. However, in peaceful times, they would fight one another endlessly.
In Chengbei colony, where Qin Feng came from, it was a rather small, unruly place. When the rat swarm came, everyone did their best to stop the ultra beasts. Eventually, with the combined efforts of everyone in Chengbei, they overcame the crisis.
However, after the rat swarm, when everyone finally got to live a peaceful life, the hard-earned peace was destroyed via numerous infighting.
If Z's words were to be believed, an SSS-tier did appear in Prince Xiao's family before. And that person was the only person who got close to becoming a supreme champion in the last two hundred years.
SSS-tier. An existence so supreme that he was like an emperor amongst the S-tiers.
Huh. Hence, this was why Li Xiao was called "Prince Xiao". This was quite a fitting name really.
And if there was someone showing a great deal of talent and potential, perhaps far better than Prince Xiao, making him the much better candidate to become the supreme champion, would the Li family humbly accept this?
Perhaps humans could co-exist with one another when they were equal. But now that this family had already gotten a taste of greatness, they would do anything to stop others from taking away the "best" title from them. To them, "being the best" was what defined them and their family.
What a terrifying enemy!
However, a moment later, Qin Feng beamed up a bitter smile. "If you're thinking of using this as an excuse to lure me into agreeing to going through your experiments, you're dead wrong, Z!"
Indeed, Z's information and intel gave Qin Feng a good scare.
Still, when Qin Feng thought about it carefully, these were not really something to be fearful of. Qin Feng had the intention of becoming a supreme champion after being reborn. There was no way he would be content with becoming just a little stronger than who and what he was in his previous life. And to reach the greatness that he wanted, Qin Feng was already mentally prepared to face any impossible obstacles that were thrown his way.
And this was all just his own ambition.
And what was the reason for Z telling him all these obstacles to his ambition? It was quite clear that Z still intended to not give up on his "spirit champion" research!
With his ploy seen through, Z seemed to not feel embarrassed or discouraged, in fact he started to double down. "Hey, I'm not bluffing. Trust me! If you accept and participate in my experiments, you'll become even more powerful than you'll ever imagine! You might even be more powerful than me!"
Qin Feng smiled coldly. "If you've got the time to say this to me, why don't you go and research those living creatures that have just appeared in the overlapped space? These things hold a better chance in awakening humankind's potential. Perhaps your dream of making humans unbeatable beings would be realized through this. Just give up on all those old research you're so obsessed with back then. Those aren't the right way!"
And Qin Feng was speaking earnestly too.
According to what he remembered from his previous life, Z's research did not yield any actual results that he wanted. In fact, all that the research produced were more and more mutants that made the Dark Coalition stronger and stronger!
However, things could all be changed.
Due to Qin Feng's meddling, Z's research could very well change into something better for humanity! Qin Feng felt that the findings from within the overlapped space were something that were more suited and humane in awakening humankind's potential.
Of course, it did not matter if Z wanted to pursue this research. Qin Feng intended to do it himself anyway.
Regardless, Qin Feng was going to head back into the overlapped space anyway—not just to collect research samples for himself but also for Z.
There was so much work to be done.
Thus, Qin Feng summoned Bai Li over.
"How's things outside?" Qin Feng asked.
"It's mostly been handled. Most of them want to come with us. As for those who want to stay and rebuild Chongluo City… heh, there's no way we would accept them in our ranks again. If they have chosen that path, they better stick to it. Of course, if they want, I would send them to other cities. Or perhaps leave them all under the care of Li Yuanshan!"
"Hold on. The other B-tiers want to come with us too?" Qin Feng was surprised to hear this.
Bai Li nodded. She was an A-tier beast deity; so, to her, it was quite normal to have a few B-tier lackeys around.
However, those B-tiers did not want to go with them because of Bai Li. Jiang Haolin, Ning Xin, Long Tao and Zhou Ce wanted to pledge allegiance to Qin Feng.
After giving it a short ponder, Qin Feng made up his mind. "Jiang Haolin will be stationed at Fengli City. The other 3 will be stationed at the Cinderclast Region."
"It's your call!" Bai Li did not mind at all. She was indifferent with what kind of treatment these four people would have under their ranks. Still, she could tell who Qin Feng favored amongst the four of them.
Jiang Haolin was the one that Qin Feng trusted. As such, he was sent to Fengli City.
Although at first glance one would think that being sent to the Cinderclast Region was the better deal due to the vast resources one could gather from that realm, Qin Feng's actual main site of operation was in Fengli City. In the city, they had Glittering Gold Sand. If Jiang Haolin was stationed there, he could rank up rather quickly.
Then, Qin Feng added, "I intend to covertly send a group of people into the overlapped space. To avoid detection, I intend to dig a tunnel and go there underground."
Bai Li understood what Qin Feng meant immediately. "There's no need for all that trouble. Even though the spatial coordinates are a mess in there, I could still open up a crack as an entrance to that realm. So long as we could secure a coordinate from the other side, I could open up an entry point from here."
"So, you mean… we could teleport straight into the Fettering Land's realm?"
And, this also meant that they did not need to go to Chongluo City too. Just anywhere on the other side.
Qin Feng planned to go there underground because he was worried that someone would detect them going to Chongluo City from the skies. However, the actual Fettering Land was not just the area around Chongluo City—the "Fettering Land" was basically an entire parallel Earth that was on the other side of a dimensional wall. Therefore, if they wanted, they could just go into that realm from a different spot on this Earth.
"Yeah, I've been studying this realm a lot when you're not around. So, it's quite viable."
"It's decided then!"
Qin Feng immediately contacted Wang Chen—an underling who had earned his trust.
"I need a group of unawakened civilians. The more the better. Sixteen years old or older. And they should be people who yearn to be ability users. More importantly, they must not be recruited against their will."
"People who yearn to be ability users?" Wang Chen immediately recalled all those research labs that Qin Feng had established and understood what he meant.
Chapter 815: Meeting Chu Fan Again
"Okay, I'll get on it right away!" Wang Chen replied immediately, not even questioning why Qin Feng asked him to get those people.
Qin Feng nodded to himself after hearing Wang Chen's reply. This was a real subordinate that he needed—someone who would do anything to fulfill his order, even if it meant doing something crossing one's own principles.
If he could fully use this kind of subordinate, he could be the best kind of weapon in his organization, assuming that he did not overdo it and cut himself in the process.
Still, Qin Feng believed that all of his subordinates would not do any inhumane things under his leadership.
"Good. Now, I've learned that although this Fettering Land around Chongluo City is indeed a perilous place, the place actually does not affect the powerless civilians much. In fact, this could be an opportunity for people like them!"
Qin Fen then briefly explained what was going on in the Fettering Land. This was done so that Wang Chen could do his job better. More importantly, he needed him to find volunteers.
Yes, volunteers who were willing in participating in his research!
He did not want to become the Second Z. If not, he would make a lot more enemies unnecessarily. He might not even know who had become his enemies due to the various consequences of reckless research.
"Certainly, President Qin!"
After listening to Qin Feng's explanation, Wang Chen's mind was finally at ease. He quickly created a name list that fulfilled Qin Feng's requirement. After hanging up his communicator, the first thing he did was contact Wang Cheng—his own little brother.
Wang Chen's family had all moved to Fengli colony. His seventeen-year-old little brother was one of them. Their family had no need for one more gunner. As such, Wang Cheng planned to train to be an ancient warrior. This was also why he had been training so hard that he had become the top student in his martial art classes.
Unfortunately, after awakening, it was revealed that Wang Cheng only had minimal potential —his potential was so low that he could only be the lowest ranked gunner! Even though Wang Chen had acquired a lot of resources working under Qin Feng, he could only help Wang Cheng ascend to E-tier.
Of course, Wang Cheng was still provided with one of the best guns available in the colony by his big brother. This meant that even though he was an E-tier, he could still take on fierce ultra beasts with minimal aid.
"Little Cheng, have you ever thought about becoming a real ability user. Like, becoming an ancient warrior?"
"Of course I have! So, what kind of goodies have you found this time, Bro?"
"It's not a Heavenly Jewel. It's an opportunity. An opportunity that comes with risks. You might need to go out and kill some ultra beasts."
"By doing that, I can be an ancient warrior?"
"Yes. It's an opportunity given by our President."
"Say no more, Bro. I'm in! To be frank, if you said you wanted to give me some kind of Heavenly Jewels, I wouldn't accept it. I've thought about it alot lately and I've accepted that I might not be born for greatness. So, if it's some more freebies, I'm going to reject them. But this time it's an opportunity. I get to work to get what I want! So, I'm in! I'll do my best!"
"Good. Then, I'll put you on the list."
After hanging up, Wang Chen continued on sending out messages after messages, making calls after calls.
"Mr Li, how's it going lately? I'll tell you what. I've got a golden opportunity over here. One that could make you a legitimate ability user! What? How much would it cost you? Nah, no charge. What? You can't be thinking that we are short on cash right now, could you? No. I don't want your money. I want your resolve. Your dad's business has grown so much and yet you're not an ability user, which makes it very difficult for you to inherit his empire. Not only that, you can't join us, the Fengli Organization, without being an ability user too. So, I hope you would consider taking this opportunity, my friend!"
"Hey, Little Han! Do you still want to take your revenge? Great! I have an offer for you…"
"Gentlemen, this is a golden opportunity from our President! Do consider it! I can secure a place for each one of you on the list!"
Wang Chen was very efficient in his work.
The Fettering Land was still a treacherous place for civilians—because when they stepped into this place, there would be no ability users protecting them. They could only rely on themselves for self-defense. This was why Qin Feng asked Wang Chen to get people who were willing to participate. However, from the way Wang Chen worded it, this sounded like a "golden opportunity" for all these powerless plebeians.
If one wanted to rise to greatness, he better be ready to face some danger. If not, he might as well be a pleb all his life!
Thus, as soon as Wang Chen's messages were sent out, a small storm was kicked up in his inner circle. In a matter of minutes, a thousand people had registered to participate in this experiment! If they were to announce this to the public, they could get billions of people taking part in this!
After all, this experiment could make any powerless civilian into an ability user!
Regardless, Wang Chen did not take everyone. Instead, he handpicked a few people who seemed capable of taking care of themselves in combat.
While Wang Chen was getting volunteers for the experiment, Qin Feng stayed on the aircraft to handle various affairs that came with the migrating population from Chongluo. 3 hours later, Qin Feng then asked Bai Li to open up the spatial tunnel.
The sky was turning dark.
Therefore, not many people noticed that there was a spatial tunnel opening up in the sky. Qin Feng darted straight into the tunnel and quickly sealed off the entrance of the tunnel, not giving time for the creatures in the Fettering Land to absorb any of the energies from this side of the world.
"Crunch Crunch Crunch!"
After a few moments of hovering in the air, Qin Feng could hear some loud, eerie chewing from below. It sounded like some huge creature was chewing and devouring a lot of its prey in the woods.
Qin Feng quickly held his breath to conceal his presence as he landed on the ground. Even though he did not put much effort in presence concealment, due to not many people having their consciousness activated, Qin Feng was still as stealthy as a cat.
After a few silent steps ahead, Qin Feng saw it—a five-meter, chubby ultra beast with round ears and thick pelt. From afar, it looked like a big, fat bear!
The ultra beast was sitting on a patch of grass, using its long tongue to lick clean the corpses and blood on the ground.
More importantly, there was a young man riding on the bear's back.
"Growwl!" The bear's ears perked up as it instinctively sensed Qin Feng's presence.
As soon as the bear saw Qin Feng, the young man on its back too had taken notice of Qin Feng and looked in his direction.
"Who's there?!"
The young man's voice sounded childlike and yet aggressive.
Qin Feng immediately recognized who that was.
"Chu Fan! It's me!" Qin Feng opened his mouth as he stepped out of his hiding.
"You!" Chu Fan did not expect Qin Feng to appear before him. "I thought you've already gone home? Why are you back?"
Chu Fan's eyes were glittering with doubt. Despite that, his eyes did not radiate hostility like he did the last time they met.
Chu Fan hated Z. He wanted to destroy everything that Z created. However, this did not mean that Chu Fan was completely consumed by hatred.
After observing for a whole day, Chu Fan could tell that Qin Feng was different. Everything he did in Chongluo City felt so different from Z's methods.
To add more, Chu Fan was also able to determine Qin Feng's faction through a day's worth of observation—this Qin Feng belonged to a faction called "Fengli"; and "Fengli" was not part of Z's organization.
"I'm just here to handle a few things… and a few words of advice, man. You've seen their research before; so, you should know that it's a bad idea leaving these corpses lying around like this. In just one day, this whole place would be swarmed with giant bugs!"
Chu Fan's eyes glittered with interest before opening his mouth, "You are so different from Z!"
"I did tell you that I'm not with him!" Qin Feng answered with a bitter smile. "Still, if I were you, I wouldn't be showing myself without making sure that I could take on my enemy!"
Chapter 816: A Newfound Ally
"Mind your own business and leave me alone. What do you know? I am the one nurturing the Devourer. This world is tailor-made for me!" Chu Fan's eyes were consumed by insanity. "As long as I stay here, I would be safe from Z. I am confident that in less than a year, the Devourer would become a beast deity under my cultivation."
To Chu Fan, this new world presented him with an opportunity of a lifetime.
"One year?" Qin Feng was baffled.
That was pretty short. Even Qin Feng, who had grown with little hindrance ever since he was reborn, had spent three years to reach where he was at now.
Though he had surpassed his old self in the previous life, he had yet to attain the same aptitude user tier. He was still not the A-tier that many would look up to without questioning his credibility.
Nonetheless, Qin Feng shook his head. "Even so, can you return to the real world without my help?"
Actually, Chu Fan would not have met the Devourer if not because of Qin Feng.
In Qin Feng's memory, Chungluo City had become an abandoned, wasted land in his past life. The entire city had been trampled to dust, without anyone living to tell the story.
Besides, without Qin Feng, where else could Z find Leviathan's cells to create Devourer?
It seemed that Chu Fang was really trapped in here now. He could never leave by himself.
All these events were connected, which was instigated by a little flap of the butterfly's wings.
Chu Fan was stunned. An idea then quickly came into his mind and he blurted out, "You said earlier that you are not with Z? The enemy of an enemy is a friend. Why don't we collaborate then?"
Once he teamed up with Qin Feng, then he could enter and leave this dimension freely. Chu Fan had witnessed what Qin Feng was capable of, be it the stairway or the spatial tunnel. He could tell Qin Feng had a huge team rallied behind him.
Qin Feng was intrigued by the suggestion. "If so, you have to at least show me your sincerity. As a general of the Human Alliances, I can't just sit and let the rest of the survivors suffer in here. They deserve to live even though they have no courage to escape. Since you would be staying here for a while, rescue them for my sake." Qin Feng paused, then continued. "As you are aware, the flesh and blood of these beasts could stimulate human's potential and strengthen even the non-awakened commoners. Why don't you help me distribute the flesh and train the commoners in here into aptitude users? At least they would have a better chance to survive going forward."
It was better to give them the fishing tool rather than the fish.
It would be impossible for Qin Feng to save everyone as he did before. After missing the first opportunity to escape, the remaining people would never muster enough courage to leave their temporary shelter. Rather than trying to convince them to leave, it was better to equip them with strength. They would then have the confidence to leave their comfort zone.
Qin Feng commanded further, "I will open the tunnel once a month. But beware. Each time the spatial tunnel is created, a beast wave would be triggered in here. You better hurry up."
Chu Fan was clearly unhappy with Qin Feng's bossy tone.
"Why are you acting like I am your subordinate? Who cares about those people?"
Qin Feng laughed it off. "You are still not in the position to be my ally."
Chu Fan was obviously dissatisfied. "Don't you dare look down on my Devourer. You have no right to talk to me like that here. Don't forget, your internal force and consciousness have no use in this dimension."
While they were busy talking, the Devourer was still feasting happily. Its body had continued to grow. Its ability to assimilate devoured energy was no less than the Leviathan.
Perhaps when Z created the beast, he had purposely focused on this particular attribute of the Leviathan.
"This thing? It's a rubbish licker at best."
"What??!"
Chu Fan clearly disagreed.
But in the next moment, Qin Feng kicked his legs and charged at Chu Fan and his Devourer rapidly. The absolute speed had Qin Feng vanished from Chu Fan's sight.
Chu Fan wanted to move the Devourer but the monster responded sloppily. Before he could react, his body had left the ground and was hanging in midair.
His neck was being grasped, and the powerful grip dragged him off his footing.
Then, Qin Feng kicked the Devourer.
The tremendous force catapulted the Devourer into the air like a ball. The chubby Devourer rolled out a distance and hit on a building outside the square.
Boom!
The building shook off dust upon impact, then slowly collapsed to the ground.
It was a terrifying kick.
Luckily, Qin Feng had purposely avoided the weaker part of the Devourer. Otherwise, the beast would not have survived the kick.
"This is the true strength of your Devourer, and it is weak as hell." Qin Feng smiled mockingly. "Now, do I have the rights?" He let go of Chu Fan.
Chu Fan staggered before finally finding his footing among the corpses. His face was as black as charcoal.
"You!!!" Chu Fan was infuriated. He mustered his unique consciousness to recall the Devourer and was relieved to find that his pet was well and alive.
Nonetheless, he still resented Qin Feng's ruthless act.
"As I have said, I need one more year!"
In which Qin Feng replied coldly, "Then you better do as I tell you in this one year. Otherwise, why should I collaborate with you?"
Chu Fan did not like being threatened. "Why did you let me go previously? I wouldn't have shaken you off if you didn't purposely let me."
"Perhaps I just wished that Z had more headaches."
When Chu Fan had successfully ran away, Qin Feng had indeed laid his eye on this person. After learning about his identity, Qin Feng wanted to see just how far his hatred toward Z would carry him.
After he was reborn, Qin Feng no longer resented Z as intensely as before. He was angry because of being blindsided. Now, he understood that his past predicament was not directly caused by Z, but by his leniency toward his opportunistic assistants. Still, Qin Feng would be more than happy to see Z's enemy grow and help him teach Z a lesson.
Chu Fan would be a great candidate to start with.
Watching from the third person point of view was better than the first person in this case.
Chu Fan glared at Qin Feng viciously. But he knew Qin Feng did not buy his saying of "the enemy of an enemy is a friend."
Qin Feng would not accept empty promises. If you wished to work with Qin Feng, then you must first do something practical for him.
"What a nuisance!" Chu Fan was unwilling to take over such a burdening task. Nonetheless, it was not his choice to make.
As for Qin Feng, he had no business here anymore and could focus on his own matters.
"I will take it as a yes. Looking forward to working with you."
Qin Feng smiled, then said, "I am here to burn the bodies of the beasts. But since your Devourer would need as much food as possible, it can have them all. Remember, don't leave anything behind."
Chapter 817: Investigated the Fettered Dimension
"Alright, alright!" Chu Fan gritted his teeth. That was exactly what he wanted to do. But after being ordered by Qin Feng, he was beyond irritated.
Looking at Chu Fan's frustration, Qin Feng found it amusing.
"I will be leaving then. See you in a month." Qin Feng left the central square after waving Chu Fan goodbye.
Chungluo City had completely turned into an abandoned ruin. Because of a small-scale beast wave, it was more shambolic than before.
Qin Feng found an old truck and steered it to bump away those wasted, once valued more than a few hundred million high-class hovercrafts. He crushed all the way through the north.
The engine howls of the truck startled the beasts and humans wherever it passed by. People who remained in the city had been traumatized by the beast wave and no longer had the courage to leave their vaults. They all thought Qin Feng must have been out of his mind to make such a glaring tumult out there.
Qin Feng, as usual, cared not about how others thought of him and did things his way.
He banged on all the beasts coming at him and left behind a trail of beast corpses.
Eventually, the giant truck exited the overlapped area and entered the actual Fettered Land.

On the outside, of all the people saved by the Fengli organization, some had chosen to leave together with them. They boarded the aircraft and were on their way to Fengli City.
The rest stayed and waited for shuttles arranged by the Zhongcheng Organization.
One of them was Li Yuanshan. He glanced back at the less than ten thousand people who had to make the same decision as him, and suddenly doubted his own choice.
His doubt mattered little, though. He would not surrender himself to Qin Feng anyway.
As compared to the people who stayed, those that had chosen Fengli and left through the latest portal technology earlier stirred envious thoughts.
"Argh! I should have chosen Fengli."
"Liu Chong has left. Are we going to rebuild Chungluo or not?"
"Why didn't I choose Fengli?! When will the shuttles from Zhongcheng arrive? Would there be danger traveling by the route in the wild?"
Fear toward the uncertainties lying ahead spread feverishly among them. Through their never-ending complaints, it was not difficult to tell that their loyalty toward the old Chungluo City had completely evaporated by now.
Unfortunately, their future held not much of a promise too.
As the transporters from Zhongcheng finally transferred the last batch of refugees away from the city, Chungluo had officially become a no-man's land. Nothing left in this forbidden land was worth staying for.
In stark contrast, Fengli City was more vibrant than ever.
The population of Fengli had multiplied overnight. The already large city in the first place was being continuously expanded. It had now reached the fourth ring of the city wall due to the ever-growing constructions.
Even so, there was hardly a vacant spot inside the city.
In less than two years, Fengli City had developed into a great metropolitan little had first envisioned it to be. The joining of one B or C-tier would bring in a large band of followers. It then created a positive loop as more people would follow suit to be part of this prosperous city clearly in an upward trajectory.
This was, however, probably as large as the city could stretch. To spread the city past this point would require too much modification of the land in the wild. A lot of cities had thus restricted the maximum expansion at the fourth ring, including Fengli City.
To further develop, there was only one way left—surrounding colonies.
As such, places that were once barren desert at the south of Fengli City had been transformed into three large colonies. Its size was close to Chengbei colony, and they were named respectively as *Fengchi, *Fenghuang, and *Fengcheng colonies.
At first, these three colonies served as the production line to complement the main industries inside Fengli City.
Right now, on top of Fenghuang, a large aircraft was delivering the refugees to the colony.
Underneath the Fenghuang colony hid a huge underground base. Bai Li, Wang Chen, and people handpicked by the latter had all gathered in there.
"Ms. Bai, these are all the peoples selected by me according to the president's preference. For now, half of them are gunners who are battle-tested, while another half are all civilians. There are also more than two thousand backup names in my list, which could be called in anytime," Wang Chen reported.
"Okay. Standby for now. We don't know when Qin Feng will come back with a suitable location. He hasn't responded so far."
"If that is so, then I will have someone train the civilians first. This would at least prepare them for future battles."
"Good idea!" Bai Li nodded. She then said, "Have you prepared the lab for Professor Z as told?"
"It's done. I have it set up right next to our lab. Their activity there would be under surveillance 24/7."
"Great!" Bai Li nodded in satisfaction. Since Z wanted the resources from Qin Feng, and to restrain Z from doing nonsense or dangerous experiments in the future, Bai Li reckoned why not have Z work under their watch?
It was better than having him experimenting in places that they had no eyes on.
Besides, if Qin Feng managed to exploit the Fettered Land first, then they would be in a favorable position.
Qin Feng could use it as a chip to negotiate with Z as an equal rather than an inferior.
They were now waiting only for Qin Feng's instructions. Bai Li would create a tunnel to connect the two dimensions as soon as Qin Feng's words returned.
The wait lasted for three days.

Inside the Fettered Land.
After Qin Feng drove the truck out of the city, he gave up on driving due to the bumpy road. He threaded through the outermost forest cautiously on foot.
The forest was largely different from what he imagined it would be. He began to explore the Fettered Land.
Without the protection of the dark runes, Qin Feng was ambushed by beasts every few minutes. It was a thrilling walk.
He needed two days to finally trek through the forest. A large landscape opened up in front of his eyes.
He was following a stream, which suddenly plummeted at about a hundred meters ahead of him.
He quickened his pace and stepped on a giant boulder. Qin Feng looked down and realized he was on top of a waterfall.
The waterfall plunged for at least eight hundred meters before it reached the bottom. A light fog was swirling around the waterfall. If the stream was a river, then this would be a majestic fall.
Instead, it was just a stream less than two meters wide. The water flowed by calmly.
'It could have been once a wide river here.' Qin Feng made the assumption based on the old riverbed trail that measured about a hundred meters wide. Moreover, the stones at the bottom of the waterfall had a smooth surface, a sign of constant erosion by more powerful flows.
Either the river had branched off, or perhaps the landscape had changed due to crust displacement. Eventually, the great river had now been trimmed to a two-meter-wide stream. The water flowed down through the rock cleft and hardly made any notable sounds.
The stream merged with a small pond at the bottom of the cliff. Qin Feng saw a herd of unicorns filling their thirst at the side of the pool. Most of them were D3-tier, with the head of the herd a D7-tier beast king.
He then gazed up across the huge plain that extended beyond the horizon. The grassland in front of him was nurturing various species of ultra beasts, which scattered all around the robust land.
*Translator's note: chi (赤), huang(黄), cheng(橙) correspond to red, yellow, and orange color, respectively.
Chapter 818: Awakening Warriors in the Future
Qin Feng had read about the scenery on earth before the end-times from some ancient literature. This place looked just like how he had imagined it—an undisturbed natural grassland with its own unique food chain.
Ability or ancient art was non-existent. There was simply just pure strength here generated from the most primitive motor—muscle.
'This place should be full of energy but for some unknown reason, it has been tamed and locked up. But relying on brute force alone ain't that bad.'
The explosiveness of the beasts living here should not be underestimated. More importantly, their meats were a source of power that allowed its consumer to be awakened.
That was such an alluring feature.
Shwaff!
Qin Feng spread the glider on his back and leaped down.
He glided through the air like a giant bird. He turned his head back to have a better view of the waterfall.
At its broadest, the waterfall once spanned about four hundred meters wide. A large surface that was once scoured by the running water had now been laid bare, with polished stones that were seen lining vertically along the cliff. Qin Feng's sight traced down the waterfall and found a cave about three meters above the ground. The cave entrance was ten-meter-wide but it was too dark to make out the interior.
Before Qin Feng could approach the cave, the unicorns underneath had noticed him first.
Though the beasts appeared tamed and were most likely herbivores, it did not mean they would not react to a potential threat that had just entered their comfort zone.
The first thing that came into the beasts' minds when they saw Qin Feng was to chase him away from their water source.
As such, they began to gallop in parallel to Qin Feng while humming angrily, warning Qin Feng that he was not welcomed into their territory.
Yet, despite the taunt, Qin Feng ignored them and landed on the other side of the pool. That was a form of provocation to the beasts.
Neigh!
The few unicorns did not sound pleased. They thrusted explosively to skip on a few boulders agilely before landing hauntingly in front of Qin Feng.
One of the leading beasts then bowed its heads to have the horn aimed straight at Qin Feng. Without a second warning, the unicorn charged at Qin Feng fiercely. The pointed horn would have no trouble puncturing through an ordinary human frame.
Qin Feng retracted his glider and side-stepped the incoming unicorn. In a split second, the Verdant Emperor Saber had appeared in his hand and fell right at the unicorn's neck.
Poof!
The slaying motion beheaded the snowy unicorn. Its white fur was quickly tainted by the out-gushing red. The head dropped to the ground and spilled more blood, staining the stones around the ground a velvet red.
The scent of the blood startled the entire herd. The eyes of the surrounding unicorns were filled with vengeful bloodshot. They charged simultaneously at Qin Feng.
The unicorns must avenge their kin!
Crack!
Temper was flaring high among the herd, evident by the shattered rocks as the unicorns bolted through them.
As they approached, one unicorn used the forward momentum to swing its back leg against Qin Feng.
But Qin Feng's saber had reached for its legs a tad faster.
Chop! Chop!
The two hoofs were amputated, followed by a swift decapitation.
Qin Feng set into motion.
He was used to a physical fight. His physique was comparable to a B5-tier parallel-trained ancient warrior. His body strength even surpassed that of a beast emperor. Thus, Qin Feng was not intimidated by the beasts since he could easily overpower them.
Qin Feng needed only ten-plus minutes to annihilate the entire herd of unicorns. Not even the beast king could have Qin Feng's mercy.
Blood was all over the stone. It slowly seeped into the water and turned the glassy pond murky.
With the entrance of Qin Feng, this water would hardly be cleansed in the foreseeable future.
Qin Feng surveyed his surroundings and decided to start with the cave he noticed earlier.
The cave was modest in size. It was only three-meter-high and had an uneven structure, which suggested that it was formed naturally. Qin Feng reached the rear of the cave after about fifty meters in. There was a half-a-meter wide opening in there, which Qin Feng believed would lead to underground water.
Qin Feng carved out a stone with his Verdant Saber to block the entrance. Then, he picked an area that was considered the smoothest.
'This place will do.' The cave was the most suitable location he had come across the past three days to carry out his experiment.
Qin Feng opened his bag and took out a few silver stones—Spatial Runic Stones.
But these stones showed little sign of potency in this dimension.
Qin Feng returned outside and carried in the D-tier beast king's carcass on his shoulder.
The unicorn's blood was dripped onto the spatial stones.
This world had a similar energy field just like on earth, after all. But it had been consumed and stored inside the beasts around here. Qin Feng believed all of the creatures in this dimension had the runic energy bound to their flesh and blood.
If Qin Feng's act was seen in his world, the observer would think that Qin Feng was performing some sort of evil ritual that required a blood sacrifice.
At the same time, Bai Li, who had been resting in their original dimension while waiting for Qin Feng's call, opened her eyes abruptly.
A silver gleam surrounded her and she was gone the next moment. Her figure re-emerged in the bunker underneath Fenghuang colony.
The guard in there corrected their posture subtly when they saw Bai Li enter and saluted her.
"Ms. Bai."
"Order the men to gather at Hall 0."
"Understood."
Bai Li strode toward Hall 0 first after giving the order. It was tightly sealed at the moment and had not been opened ever since Bai Li had left three days ago.
Bai Li unlocked the front door and the spacious Hall 0 immediately came into her sight. In the middle of it, several silver stones were radiating their gleams silently.
These stones were embedded in an orderly fashion inside a three-meter-high and five-meter-wide rectangle.
Something was clearly missing from the center of the rectangle plate. There was an indentation there, which would fit a stone of similar shape to another spatial stone.
Bai Li reached her hand out and a spatial stone slowly materialized on his palm. She infused the stone with her consciousness to mark down the spatial coordinates, then pushed the stone into the indentation.
The move activated the door and sprang it open.
The silver light around the door was contrasted by the endless darkness it had opened up to.
The spatial tunnel was completed.
At the same time, the groups that Bai Li had requested earlier had also assembled inside the hall.
The leader was Wang Chen's brother, Wang Cheng.
"Have your men carry these things over. He will know what to do with it."
Bai Li waved her hand and a few pillars appeared out of thin air. The pillars actually worked in the same principle as the rectangle plate. Even the spatial stones embedded in it were the same. If someone probed it with their consciousness, then they would realize the spatial coordinates carved on the pillar led back to this same Hall 0 under Fenghuang.
"Yes, Ms. Bai!"
Wang Cheng led the one hundred men, along with the stone pillars, through the tunnel without any hesitation.
They had been trained rigorously the past three days to prepare them for this moment. Even if they were not entirely prepared, they still had Qin Feng on the other side to guide them.
Inside the Fettered Land, Qin Feng watched on as a hundred men walked out from the spatial tunnel.
"President, unawakened prospects, Troop 1, are here to report for duty." Wang Cheng announced spiritedly.
Everyone put down their belongings and lined up uniformly.
These peoples displayed unwavering eyes. They did not know what the future held for them, but they all had a passionate optimism about it.

Qin Feng was impressed by Wang Chen's brainwashing scheme. 'Unawakened prospects?' The name might not be appealing but it did the trick on these people.
Qin Feng decided against saying anything motivational. He did not need to. No words could emulate the challenge and exhilaration they were going to experience in the next phase of their lives.
"First, assemble the pillars," Qin Feng commanded.
They moved quickly and set up the new spatial gateway efficiently.
This type of passageway was a technique yet to be mastered by the Human Alliance. It would shock the world if Fengli were to unveil such a groundbreaking invention to the world. But Bai Li had little interest in turning her skill into an asset. She was unaware that this technique was so valuable until Qin Feng needed it to connect the two dimensions.
As for Qin Feng, he would not publicize it either. Why would he want to tell the world who Bai Li really was?
Though some might have guessed Bai Li's identity, they could only speculate as long as Qin Feng did not confirm it.
As the new spatial gateway was set, the spatial stones Qin Feng had used earlier popped off quietly. The spatial tunnel collapsed along with it.
It did not bother Qin Feng. He could re-open the passage anytime by using the blood of the beast in this world on the new door.
"Wait here."
Qin Feng exited the cave and returned swiftly. He came back with the thigh of a beast in his hand.
He went back outside again and harvested the thigh of the unicorn beast king this time.
"Have the meat grilled," Qin Feng ordered.
"Li Yue, you are up!" Wang Cheng picked a chef he knew.
Li Yue was a fire-type ability user but he was only at G5-tier. His talent was subpar after awakening.
He was given this opportunity because his sister was a manager in the Fengli Organization.
Li Yue was an aptitude user, being a chef was never something he enjoyed working as.
Though he did not understand why Qin Feng needed the meat to be cooked, Li Yue did not question senselessly and did what he does best.
He skillfully set up a campfire and needed only a short time to roast the fine meats. The delicious smell of the cooked meat immediately filled the cave.
Qin Feng sliced a piece of the meat and put it into his mouth.
He chewed it and was delighted by its taste. The beasts here seemed to have directed the energy throughout their bodies. They did not have a crystal core like ultra beasts on earth. Instead, every part of their body could be turned into a palatable meal.
Qin Feng could not get enough of it.
The taste of the beast king's drum went without saying.
Coupled with Li Yue's impeccable cooking, this meal was Qin Feng's best in the past three days. More importantly, Qin Feng could feel a flow of energy running through his meridian into his limbs and organs. Though subtle, it had indeed strengthened his body.
But even the subtle change was significant. After all, Qin Feng was already a B5-tier ancient warrior. It was often not easy to progress at this stage.
Qin Feng then sliced another piece, then turned to the orderly troop. They could hardly contain their saliva.
"These unicorn meats contain ample energy in it. From my observation, insectoids here have undergone a drastic transformation after consuming the unicorn carcasses. According to the law of nature in our world, if a low-tier aptitude user consumes a high-tier beast's flesh or some Heavenly Jewels with violent energy, it would usually end tragically."
Qin Feng scanned them and realized his words had terrified most of them. They remained still but their widened irises and gulping throats betrayed their fears.
"However, for some unknown reason, this dimension has its pure energy contained or weakened. This is the reason why you guys are here. I wish to test whether this meat could be consumed by weaker ranks, and also whether it could enhance one's potential quicker. Your mission here is to adapt, hunt, and get stronger. I wish to see every one of you become a capable aptitude user. But in the end, it's up to your dedication."
This, after all, still came with a lot of risks.
The insectoid might be a primal organism. Though they could transform after consuming the meat, humans as a more complex organism might not respond in the same manner. Other than the human mutation experiment, there was no precedence that a human's form could be transfigured or modified easily.
Despite Z having already tried feeding his subject with the beast's meat and found no repulsion, there were still too many unknown factors.
What if there was still a tolerance limit? It was hard to predict whether the subject might implode due to excessive energy or turn into a horrible creature after consuming the raw energy.
They simply did not have enough data at hand to declare it was completely risk-free.
But at the same time, Qin Feng also knew this was a golden opportunity for many people.
As such, he wanted to see whether he could "crash course" a group of aptitude users.
If this worked out exactly as he envisioned it, a commoner could easily become a D-tier aptitude user by eating B-tier beasts' flesh. That was impressive enough.
Thus, he put his idea into action.
Qin Feng sliced the drum meat personally and put it on a plate.
He held the plate out, waiting for the first volunteer to claim it.
"I would like to try, President." A commoner named Han Mingwen emerged from the troop and walked past Wang Cheng.
He was a nobody, not even a gunner. But he carried a blood feud with him.
Han Mingwen wanted revenge. He had to become an aptitude user, whatever the cost. His ultimate aim was to become a bounty hunter and chase down every last one of the criminals who belonged to the Dark Coalition.
Hence, he did not hesitate and bit greedily. He did not chew much but the meat was probably the tastiest food he had ever put into his mouth.
When the meat reached his stomach, a flaring sensation blasted off inside his body. The energy reached the tips of his limbs and dwelled in his bones. His frail frame bloated thoroughly as if energy was being pumped directly into his muscle and blood. He had never felt such vigor in his life.
"This… Is this the feeling of awakening?" Han Wenming looked at his body in disbelief.
Qin Feng raised his palm and said, "Punched my hand. I would like to test your power."
Without consciousness, Qin Feng could not judge Han Wenming's strength based on probing. But he could still distinguish the strength level of a punch or a kick based on physical contact.
Han Mingwen did not hesitate. He reflexively threw a punch right at Qin Feng's palm.
Pow!
The punch did not stagger Qin Feng even a little. However, the force and speed of the punch could never be generated by a weak commoner.
Even Qin Feng was baffled by the result.
"The strength of a G5-tier ancient warrior. If this was tested with the machine, I believe the punch would score around 2800," Qin Feng said.
"How is that possible?" Wang Cheng and the other gunners were dumbfounded by the revelation.
Han Mingwen was really just an ordinary man before today.
After an ordinary person had received the awakening jab, their attack power was usually at most at around 50, which varied from individual to individual.
If they could boost it to 100 within a month, then they could become a gunner. As for the ancient warrior path, it required a thick meridian and at least 300 attack power. Otherwise, they could only call themselves an apprentice.
For G-tier certification, the first requirement was that the aptitude user had to reach 500 attack power. F-tier was ten times that number.
To put things into perspective, Han Mingwen was already halfway to an F-tier after taking only one slice of the meat. It was unbelievable!
