Chapter 1 - Transfer.

It was a Friday evening in Florida, pretty pleasant as it was raining, heavily. The roadside shops were mostly shut because of the heavy rain. And here, was a girl in her room, which was turquoise in colour with a huge window with a soft white curtain, which were closed. Her room consisted of a study table, with a few text books, lying on it and a laptop. She also had a cute little bookshelf beside her study table to keep her novels, safely. And the room ended with a wooden door, where there was a pink name plate with a name on it,

"Madelyn Adams!"

It was Madelyn's room. And then there was, Madelyn, lying on her pink queen-sized bed, using her phone.

*knock*

Madelyn got down from her bed, as soon as she heard a knock.

"Coming, momma!" She shouted.

She understood who it was, just by the frequency of the knock.

She swung opened the door.

"I've served your snacks on the dining table, and yeah! we need to have a talk, while you have it!" Madelyn's mother, Samantha said in a hurry and left from there.

Madelyn gulped in fear.

"What does she wanna talk about?" She asked herself and remembered all the sins she did till then, from stealing her mom's cupcake to breaking her mom's favourite vase.

She slowly moved from there and walked to the dining table.

She pulled out a chair and sat on it. The snacks were kept on the table which were, 2 pancakes with honey drizzled on top.

She felt her mom's footsteps and flinched.

And soon, Samantha came and sat in front of her.

"Yeah so, I wanted to talk about something!" She said.

Madelyn slowly nodded.

"Maddie, I know it's been really tough for you to be in this school as everyone bullies you." Samantha said.

"So..?" Maddie a.k.a Madelyn, raised her left eyebrow and asked.

"So...we're shifting." Samantha said.

"UGH! NOT AGAIN, MOMMA!" Maddie shouted.

"It's for your future, baby.." Samantha said, convincing Maddie.

"Nope, it's for dad's transferable job. Am I right?" Maddie asked and rolled her eyes, knowing that the answer would be yes.

"Uh...yeah. You know, we have no choice." Samantha said, sadly.

"Ugh...but, where are we shifting this time?" Maddie asked.

"San Diego." Samantha said.

"But that's too far from Florida." Maddie said.

"I know, but money's a little tight this time so...we can't afford going by flight." Samantha said.

"Are we going by train then?" Maddie asked.

"Hopefully! But if not, then roadways." Samantha said and left the place.

Madelyn finished her snacks sadly and headed back to her room.

"It's already so hard for me to make friends and we have to shift after every 6 months, ugh!" She ughed and closed the door.

She went towards her room's window and slowly opened the curtains, which revealed the beautiful evening of Florida, after rain. The roadside shops which were closed, were open now with cute, fairy lights hung on the top. The place was filled up with people, buying things from those shops.

It was all really pretty.

"I will miss this place so much!" She said to herself and a tear drop fell from her eye.

...

It was soon, night.

"Sam? Honey?" Madelyn heard her dad, Nelson calling her mom.

Then after sometime, she saw her dad knocking.

"Yeah dad?" She asked.

"Um...have you seen your mom anywhere, Maddie?" Nelson asked Madelyn.

"Uhh...she was looking a bit in hurry in the evening." She said.

"Okay!" Nelson nodded and left.

"Honey, I'm back!" Samantha shouted from the living room.

"Where were you?" Nelson asked her.

"My boss called me as I had some work pending of Florida and I had to do it before going to San Diego." Samantha said putting her bag on the table and sighed.

"Oh! Okay." Nelson said and went to kitchen.

He grabbed the plates and set them on the table.

"You cooked food..?" Samantha asked.

"Yeah!" Nelson said and smiled.

He brought the dish from the kitchen and they had their dinner.

Next day :

7:00 a.m.

*alarm sound*

"Ugh!!" Madelyn ughed and banged her alarm clock off.

"Maddie, Get up! We're gonna leave in 3 hours!" Samantha came in Maddie's room and shouted.

"Huh? We're leaving TODAY??" Madelyn immediately got up and asked.

"Yeah! Now go get your bags packed." Samantha said and left the room.

...

Everyone got ready for leaving and their bags were packed too.

"Are we ready?" Nelson asked.

"Yes!" Samantha and Maddie said in joy.

They got downstairs and a yellow cab was waiting for them.

They put their bags and stuffs inside the car and got seated inside.

Madelyn's Pov :-

We got seated and I was pretty much excited to see the place.

Just then, something unusual happened.

I saw a few glimpses of some place, a house and a balcony, where there was a broken vase on the floor.

I rapidly closed and opened my eyes for a few times.

"Maddie, are you okay?" Mom asked, looking at me.

"Uh...hmm, I'm good." I said in a low tone.

"Okay then!" Mom said and continued talking to dad.

"What was that?" I asked myself.
