Chapter 4 - Guardian Angel

Alice is pointing at the huge golden gate at the top of this long staircase. Walls of clouds are surrounding it and there are guards in golden armor waiting for us. They have spears, swords, and bows. Projectiles come raining down on us while other guards are chasing us from behind.

She transforms into an angel. Her hair is gold as well as her eyelashes and eyebrows but her eyes were so blue. Her obsidian skin turns into pale flesh. On her head, is a gold halo looking like a crown. Her armor is as white as bone and her sword is large and heavy but she holds it with an eased grip like it's weightless.

She draws forward her left hand and a golden glass-like shield protects us from the incoming projectiles.

"Duck!" she utters and I'm confused for a moment until she swings her sword behind her.

"Woah!" I yell in surprise, ducking in time. Her horizontal slash nearly cut me in half.

A slice made out of golden light hits the pursuing guards behind us. Dozens of them scattered when the slice hit them. Some of them started to fly using their wings.

"Uh. . .," I say, hesitating. "they're catching up!"

"Don't worry," she says. "They're a little too late." The shield in front of us begins to grow brighter. "Light of Dawn!" she yells and the shield explodes, blowing up the guards at the gates. They fall to the sides of the staircase and our way to the gate is now clear.

Once we're at the top, she pulls my hand and pulls me closer to the gate. "Open it," she says.

"Open it?" I ask.

"Yes, hurry."

"What?! I don't know how!"

"Just hit it!"

"With what?"

"With your fist or something!"

"STOP THEM!!!" someone roars and it startles me. Angel guards have surrounded us.

I have to do something. So, I squeeze my fist and punch the golden gate. To my surprise, it explodes open wide. The guards have been blown away by the impact. I could've been blown away too but Alice grabs me as it happens. She then flaps her huge wings once and takes us through the gate.

A huge palace is right before us. It's so large that I think it could be a third in size compared to the Shelter.

"What is this?" I ask.

"The Divine Palace," she answers and smiles with her angelic face.

"And are you still Alice?"

"Yup!"

She flies us into the door of the palace and it closes as soon as we're in. Everything is dark but the only thing I know is my feet are against the floor now and I'm still holding her hand. She lets go and makes her huge sword glow bright. The candles and chandeliers light up and I realize we're in a huge empty ballroom!

"Get ready," she warns, chuckling slightly.

"Ready for what?"

"That!"

She points at the center of the ballroom floor. There is a flash of light and after it, a huge armor made out of silver and gold appears. It is in the figure of a woman with a golden, emotionless face. It has a huge shield and sword. Its wings are gold.

"What is that?!" I ask, worrying that this might cause me terrible pain. This game includes pain sensors, after all!

"It's the Guardian Angel boss fight."

"Boss fight?! I don't know much about these games but I just got here! Why boss fight all of a sudden?!"

"Shut up and dodge!"

She leaps to the right and I to the opposite. The whole place shakes as the sword hits the floor. But no matter how powerful it was, it left no scratch on the floor! What is this floor made out of? The giant sword is parting me away from her until the giant metal lady lifts it.

"What do we do?!" I yell at Alice.

"Beat it, of course!" she answers.

"How?!"

"For now, dodge and figure out its attack patterns!"

Attack patterns? The Guardian Angel slams the bottom of its shield against the floor and then kicks into a ridiculous speed! I jump as high as I can but its face hits me! Argh!! I felt that! I land on the ground, tumbling but quickly steadied myself on fours. I look up and it's already swinging its giant sword down to slice— No, crush me into pieces!

Then *Bang*, Alice bashes it with her sword. It narrowly misses me and the explosion blasts me away. It's not over yet as it orients its sword horizontally and drags it along the floor, sweeping as if it's a broom! I jump and the gust of wind spins me in midair. As I hit the floor once more, the whole palace shakes. But that's strange, I'm not heavy. . . Then above, the freaking metal lady is in mid-air!!! It descends with the swing of her sword upon us. I hurry and run away to the distance but the blast along with the hot flash of light hurt my back! I collapse to the ground. I feel hurting everywhere in my body. Alice is right beside me, laughing in excitement.

"That's Move Set #1," she informs me.

"This is crazy!" I tell her.

"I know, right?" she grins. "No one has ever fought this boss! And remember that move set. It'll save you later."

"I barely even remember it! How could I remember that when I felt like my heart could burst out from my chest?"

"Here it goes again!" It makes a stance with its shield forward and its sword pointing at us. "This could be bad," she reckons.

Its sword glows and I just have to dodge now as I feel I should. She does the same so we roll to the right before the laser beam it shoots could fry us. It prepares to shoot another one. It points to Alice as she distances herself from me. It shoots but she dodges. It's still pointing at her but I'm not that worried. She—

It suddenly turns to me and shoots the laser beam. My feet got burned as I was too late to dodge. "MY FEET!!!" I cry in pain, feeling the burning pain! Alice comes to my rescue and heals me with a faint glow from her hands. "Ugh, thank you!" I don't feel pain anymore.

"That's Move Set #2!"

"I don't want to suffer here anymore! This game is the worst! why can't I log out? Just kill me now!"

"No, if you die here, you die in real life."
