Chapter 5 - Learning BlackSmithy

The reason even Earl kept silent during the lunch is because he could sense a sudden bump in magic power in Ash and could guess he reached 90. This certainly astonished the Earl because he did not know any method which could increase the magic power that much in a day.

The Earl is a genius of magic and is next only to the king himself. His magic power is 5000 as he has high affinity to magic. His magic power when he is at 8 years old is 2000. Through regular practice every day he has achieved 5000.

He understood that Ash is increasing his magic power through a secret method as his knight captain has informed him of Ash burning the manual.

He cursed at Ash because if he gets that manual he would increase his power by leaps and bounds. He did not know that it is completely useless for a mana user like him.

Ash also knew what thoughts were running through Harvey's mind. The mana users have difficulty adapting this method because collecting magic energy inside the body and giving it a shape is straining if you do not do combat arts or any weapons training. The muscles and other parts of the body needs to be strong and flexible to collect energy efficiently. Since Ash had a young body he could accumulate it easily but if the person is a youth or middle aged person it will take at least 2 months to collect energy and 3 months to give it a shape.

Ash also had the system which increased the speed of the process.

Ash after having lunch went to the library and started studying books on Black Smithy and Alchemy. He had the basic knowledge of chemistry from his previous world.

The reason he decided to study these is because when he goes on adventures in the future he will definitely need to have strong weapons and potions. He can develop his own type of medicine using magic and alchemy. Of course since the system is also a development system it will provide knowledge of different chemicals and metals in creating these medicines.

When he was first transmigrated into a body of 5 years old. He was completely confused, afraid and anxious. He did not know what to do. He decided to gain information and started going to library to study about this world. He studied the Geography, History, Economy and Politics of different countries through books.

The reason he studied these book is to get a grasp on the world he was going to be living. There are 5 continents:

1) Crimson Vale continent

2) Draconic continent

3)Hallow Wood continent

4)Sunderville continent

5) Lagoon Gale continent

Presently Ash is in Sunderville continent which is only the 4th strongest due to its political shit. Draconic continent stands at the top due to its decent civilization. The last among them is Crimson Vale.

The economies everywhere including Draconic continent are still backward according to standards of Vinod who came from another world. All continents are ruled by kingdoms and there is no other form of government.

Ash went through the books of smithy and alchemy thoroughly. If he has a knowledge of what it involves it will definitely be easy when he practices Black smithy.

He completely immersed himself in books and training the entire week. He started the second step of magic energy manipulation which is controlling the energy of his star. It has been a week and he could only make very little progress. It is understandable because controlling energy of the star is very difficult compared to other shapes. It will be tough but the versatility of spells and speed of casting acquired from star shape is very high compared to others.

The other shapes provide high power, immense flexibility and less energy drain. The star shape drains a lot of energy compared to other shapes and that is the reason why the third step is most crucial for star shaped evokers where they would a stable supply of power to the star. That is also the reason why it is becoming hard for Ash to complete the second step of controlling the power of the star.

It gives away too much energy or very less energy when trying to cast the basic spells Ash has. The week has passed and too little progress has become a headache to Ash. The other training are going well compared to energy training. His archery range has increased to 50 meters in a week and his spear art has become more fluidic over the week.

His stats have increased by +7 in the week.

It was Monday and today his job as Blacksmith apprentice starts. He completed the training and reached store exactly at 2:58pm.

Roland looked at Ash and smiled. "Good you are here my lord" said Roland.

"We should enter the forge where we can get on with the basics of forging a dagger" said Roland.

"You need not do any work related to material collecting or attending to customers. Just concentrate on forging different weapons for 3 weeks. After that you can perform other duties" said Roland.

Ash nodded and did not utter a word because he wanted to learning forging first and do the latter afterwards because he was eager to learn this knowledge which would help him in future.

They both entered the forge where different sized, hammers, anvils and two furnaces along with other blacksmithing equipment are present.

"Today I will be explaining how to forge a simple dagger using Iron.

Ash has already studied the theory behind it. The first step is forging where heat is used to bring the material to a malleable state.

The second step is Tempering where a desired form is achieved by hammering.

The third step is folding where a blacksmith infuses strength into the sword.

[Ding! A hidden mission is activated by the host before 8 years of age, Experience unlocked]

Ash was stunned at what he heard. When he opened his status:

When Ash looked at the mission he although felt satisfied he needed to ask the system. "What is this System?" asked Ash.

"Host the hidden missions are no way related to your main missions which you will get at 8 years of age. These missions are however used to gain experience but will not affect other stats in any way" replied System.

"So that is the reason why you told me that learning Black smithy is profitable?" asked Ash.

"Yes host you have been stuck in Level 1 for a week. You did feel frustrated of not increasing your level" replied the system.

Ash understood what the system said and kept quiet because he has been frustrated of his level not increasing because his stats have increased a lot but not the level.

Roland looked at distracted Ash and said "My lord please pay attention". Ash came out of distraction and said "Sorry please continue".

"The dagger should be brought to a malleable state but it should not be too soft as there is a chance of it becoming weak if it is done like that. It should not be too rigid as it becomes hard to forge it into a desired shape" said Roland.

"I will show you how to do it and after that you need to starting doing by yourself My lord" said Roland.

Roland started the process of making a dagger and Ash observed it keenly. He looked at the three steps without any distraction until the sword is made.

The dagger had sharp tip and uniform edges which made it look great even with simple steel.

"Now you should do it My Lord" said Roland. Ash went and took out the steel and started doing whatever Roland did while creating the dagger.

He was able to forge a dagger using the methods mentioned above but the dagger was very weak as Roland tested it on a wooden dummy. It immediately broke and shattered.

"Not a problem My lord since this is your first time it is understandable that you would make a mistake" said Roland.

"I will do it again" said Ash with a smile. Roland was somewhat taken aback with that smile on his face.

Ash repeated the same process but made sure that the liquid poured into the mold did not have any other minerals completely. The presence of other minerals may change the quality of the Iron and make it susceptible to breaking.

After the dagger is prepared Roland tested it. The dagger completely sliced the wood into half. Roland could not believe what is happening because when he was an apprentice it nearly took 5 days to forge a basic dagger which could only produce a small cut on the wood. Here Ash has finished the dagger in his second attempt and it is a level of rare grade item.

"My Lord did you have any training before coming here because this item is a rare grade item and can be sold at very high price" said Roland.

"No this is my first time learning how to make weapons and as you have seen I could not make the dagger properly in my first attempt. I understood what I did wrong in my first attempt and I did not make the mistake again second time by remove other minerals perfectly from the Iron" said Ash.

"I am a fast learner Master Roland" said Ash. Ash was not lying because in his previous life as Vinod he learned the financial principles and laws too quickly but due to his bad luck and his poor background made it hard to get a good job.

Roland was observing the dagger as a precious relic. "My Lord since it is forged by you what would you like to do with it?" asked Roland.

"You can sell it Master Roland as I will be making a unique weapon for myself after mastering the black smithy" said Ash.

Roland nodded and accepted it. The time is 6:30pm already. "My Lord from tomorrow you will be forging other weapons. I thought it would take at least 3 weeks to get you to advanced forging but it seems that might not be the case" said Roland.

Ash smiled awkwardly and said "I will be leaving for today and I will be coming at 3pm everyday".

Ash turned and went back home with a smile as he was observing the status.
