Edwin took a deep breath after saying that to Dirga. He honestly still didn't expect what was going on, but he admitted that there was indeed something strange about Dirga. I don't know how he passed the selection process or how he quickly found Mekar in the forest.
Even though so far no one has ever found Mekar there, the little girl is always careful when she comes out of her cave, and she always moves fast. He didn't even know how Dirga got to L-07 just like that; all Edwin saw was Mekar entering the cave in great fear, and he thought Wiralaya was there.
But apparently, it was Dirga, one of his own men.
He attacked Dirga without knowing who it was and only really recognized him after he moved the young man into his dimension. Either Edwin should feel relieved that it's not Wiralaya or even more worried because Dirga might not be able to keep his mouth shut and instead spread Mekar's presence to all the wrenas around him.
