D - Class monsters are specified to be at the level of a powerful creature. Comparable to animals like a bear or a lion in terms of strength.
The D - Class monsters on the third floor are considered real D-Class monsters because of this very reason.
Ghouls. A grotesque abomination that has turned into something better than a lesser undead. Unlike the shamblers and zombies who have deteriorating bodies, the Ghoul has attained a form that somewhat mimics the form of a human.
Razor sharp teeth, jagged and long claws. Grey-stone colored skin along with a hairless body. They devour human flesh to circumvent their unending hunger.
The long hallway leading to the loot he sought after had these decently powerful monsters as his foot-soldiers.
"Bring out the silver arrows, I'll start chucking the holy water."
Vials filled with holy water, they act as acid to the flesh of an undead.
Shots empowered by mana along with arrows that have been coated with a silver edge. Zo, was using them as target practice.
The Halberd that Rokhan carried cleaved the ghouls in half.
While their pace was slower than the first floor, they still moved in an effective manner.
Halfway through the long hallway Matthew began to bark out orders once more.
"Save a handful of those arrows for the Boneclaw, I'll get serious from here"
"Get back Rokhan, I'll take care of these."
Rokhan moved back as the Rook and Knight puppets took his spot.
Undead have a multitude of weaknesses, fire is one such weakness.
This meant that out of all of his puppets, Summer would be the best in slot for fighting these creatures.
The rook and knight puppets prevented the ghouls from reaching him as he poured all of his mana onto summer.
"Ray of Fire"
Like the breath of a dragon the wave of fire engulfed the remaining ghouls. They were either burnt to a crisp or were relatively close to dying. He pulled back the two melee puppets as they reached the entrance.
"I'll be meditating to replenish my mana, the two of you should do the same. Get most of our supplies ready, we're raiding in less than an hour."
What is a Boneclaw?
Boneclaws are the result of an incomplete ascension to the status of a Lich. Unlike the lesser lich who have at least somewhat attained this status, Boneclaws are those who have failed to create a phylactery.
Phylacteries require massive amounts of rare materials along with a lot of sacrifices. These are the reason for the so called immortality that liches held.
The boneclaw failed in creating a powerful enough phylactery, which is why they have turned into such a grotesque creature. The purpose of this expedition is to obtain what would have been this boneclaw's phylactery, an item known as a Soul Orb.
A soul orb can be used to fuel a puppet that far exceeds even the Queen puppet of the Geppeto's chess set. While the chess set is mass-produced it is still considered a good standard to start with.
An advanced puppet powered by such an item is far above the standard, his goal before reaching the second mana circle is to attain such a puppet.
"This thing is still a C - Class monster, so stick to my plan if you want to get out of here alive. "
He discussed the plan and soon they pushed open the door that led to the room of the boss.
Standing at a height of nearly 3 meters, with the skull of a human and long large arms. This is the boneclaw.
True to its name the boneclaw has three long claws on each of its large arms. A chill went up their spines as the figure looked towards their direction.
"Rokhan, Go!"
Rokhan followed his orders as 4 pawn puppets joined him in his charge.
The claws of the monster extended aiming for the warrior but the puppets stood in its way, two of the tendril like claws were blocked by Rokhan's halberd while the rest each had a single puppet holding them down.
A silver arrow pierced through the boneclaw's skull. It shook a little before attempting to retract its claws.
Rokhan then spun around and cleaved through two of the tendril-like claws taht were being held down by the puppets.
"RUAKKK"
A shriek came out of its mouth as the rest of the tendrils were retracted.
"Now!"
Matthew stated as the group of puppets charged at the monster.
Rokhan pulled out a barrel from his inventory, he chucked it onto the boneclaw.
The creature was now fully doused in holy water, no matter how good the Boneclaw's regenerative properties may be. It is still an undead, susceptible to the same weaknesses as its lesser counter parts.
The puppets blocked off the claws as the warrior unleashed a barrage of thrusts and slashes at the monster.
"Keep shooting!"
They unleashed hell on the undead creature. From silver arrows to vials of holy water. They bombarded it with attacks.
Eventually its limbs were severed and winning seemed eminent.
[763/1,800]
Matthew was running out of mana. They needed to end it.
He pulled out his pawns as the undead horror regenerated its arm.
He took out both Summer and the Screecher.
The Screecher is one of his newest puppets, with 2 built in spells.
He poured his mana onto summer as a wave of fire covered the monster.
The humanoid screecher puppet opened its mouth. The jaw opened to then shoot out a green-ish energy in the form of a sonic screech.
[Shrieking Voice] a built in spell that simply needs his mana to fuel it.
Bombarding the monster in both the eastern and western sections causing it to be stunned.
"Do it Rokhan!"
Rokhan once again brought out a barrel from his inventory, chucking it at the monster. He had three more and chose to start throwing them all.
"This thing's dying one way or another, Zo aim for the chest that's where the orb is!"
A C - Class Boss monster is multiple times stronger than a normal C - Class creature. As a boss monster certain conditions need to be met if one aims to kill it.
It took them a while but the battle soon ended as the last shots and barrel of holy water disintegrated its body.
A victorious roar erupted from Rokhan's mouth as they all celebrated the victory.
