But I am not someone's favorite. Even how hard I try to pray. My prayers are quitely unheard of!
"You are really the most beautiful lady I have ever seen my whole life."
I almost roll my eyes when I heard that voice. I know that I heard his voice earlier during the parade, but I am hundred percent sure that it was that not-so unique blonde dude.
Disturbing my lonesome moment admiring these flowers nearby the flower shop.
May it be an unusual situation for me. All I could even remember was my first remarkable book that made me succesful. But this is obviously an inauspicious event to meet this not-so unique blonde dude!
Turning my way around to face this dude. He simply smile at first, but when our eyes meet his smile became wide.
"Is there something you need from me s-sir?" I ask him, wondering when will Eiliff arrive to save me from this dude.
"Just a smile and it will be all worth all the effort I made to come here."
Smooth. Smooth as f**k.
"Is there something? You need from me?"
His eyes didn't stop staring my face, it's becoming awkward for me. This is really aj awkward situation.
"Perhaps I wanted to know the reason why this beautiful lady is alone this very hour? The festival is fun, I can accompany you if you wanted to look around Lady Prestine."
When I heard him call my name with that address I cringed. I should have told him my last name instead.
"I am with someone--"
"But I cannot see anyone around you Milady."
'Eiliff, where the hell are you now?!'
"I --"
"I insist on accompanying you, that would be a waste of time if you will be walking around lonely."
He cut me off. But I just can't roll my eyes. I just can't give him an attitude. Eiliff mentioned that this dude is actually of noble blood. So rejecting their offers will be misunderstood.
"And if I refuse?"
His facial expressions tense up. And I am not sure if I can trust that 'pain' on his face.
"That is probably out of the question. But I will still pursue you until I heard you aggree with me."
"Aren't you just a spoiled brat kid?!" I wanted to slap my mouth for running without a brake.
He laugh at what he said. His wide shoulders are even moving from trying hard to stop his laughter.
"For the record you are the only one who called me that. What a brave lady, I like that."
I breathe out and think. 'Don't go too far if you wanted to watch the events.' I remember Eiliff said that earlier before leaving me.
He even reminded me to stay here while he was out for some business that I don't know.
"This is the first time I will be seeing a festival as lively as this." I wanted to change the topic.
"There are games for the children to enjoy later. Some performer will be here too. And I recommend the poetic slash singer of the town.!" He added. Trying to pursuade me more.
There's no use rejecting his offer being my guide. Yes, guide.
When I finally aggreed to his invitation, he offered his arm but I greatly rejected! If this is Sahana or Eiliff, I will gladly accept.But this dude is still stranger for me.
He really did explain everything to me. From the games for the childrens. The small competitions for the other guests. Even the performers, he mentioned the names but I didn't mind at all, so even if you ask me, I don't remember a single name he mentioned.
For I am still in awe while letting my eyes enjoy the liveliness of every person here. It's enjoying and a feeling of overwhelming is real. I get to meet these crowd of people back then. Every single one are too aggressive to meed me. But seeing them mind their own businesses is different.
"This is fun.." I mumble.
"What is?"
We are now outside of the restaurant he recommended. He said that the desserts here are to die for.
"People enjoying the festival is fun to watch." I told him without making an eye contact with him. My eyers are too busy watching these people.
"You find it fun watching people minding their own businesses?"
That made me look at him. "Of course." If only you knew, that these kind of people are giving me inspiration.
"In what way?."
My eyebrow raise. "You never learn to appreciate even the smallest thing, I see."
"Well, I admire beauty most of the time." He's getting concieted.
"I hope you find the beauty that you have been admiring for so long.."
He lean on the table and move his face closer to me. "You are already in front of me."
Usually, a lady will giggle after hearing those words. To my case, not an effort at all.
I was about to give him an answer to his statement, when someone tap my shoulder.
Eiliff!
I wonder how I'd look like when I felt that my face brighten looking at him. He rested his hand to my shoulder.
"Did I keep you waiting?" What a very gentle tone.
"Not at all. He kept me company." I smiled.
"If you don't mind, Earl, I will have to take her home."
"So, the Red tower's master is your date. What a great honor it is to be with the presence of the greatest magician of the empire."
My eyes squinted with his sarcasm. I stood up and hold Eiliff's arm.
"You knew each other?" I ask.
With the way their menacing look with each other, that question was useless.
"Maybe.." Eiliff answered coldly.
"Not at all." This blonde dude answer.
Eiliff look at me and ask. "Wanna go home? You look tired already."
I nodded at him. When I look at the Earl, I gave him a sly smile and bid my goodbye.
"Thank you for your time Sir."
"What were you talking about--"
"Where have you been---"
We both stop our paces when those questions came out at the same time. He, looking his way to me, with a serious face.
"So, where have you been?" I ignore that look and continue walking. Since I am still clinging to his arm, he followed.
"Dave called for help." Too short of an answer.
"For..?"
"Checking some magical apparatus."
"For..?"
He stops walking, so I did. I am still holding his arm for goodness sake!
"There will be a firework display later at night as a welcoming for the festival. The apparatus I checked will be used for that."
"Oh, I see. What time will it be?"
Since for the record, of my hand holding onto him, I walk and pull him to walk with me.
"Nine PM exact." He answered me then ask. "What were you talking about?"
It's my time to answer his question huh?. "Well, nothing useful. He brags about beauty when in fact, he's not attractive at all! He even said that he was admiring beauty infront of him, talking to me like that sure was cringey!"
I remember when he lean on closer to me. I shiver with that thought!
"He's not attractive for you?"
"Not at all!"
"Good."
"Good, what?"
"Good that you didn't fall for his blabbering mouth."
I look at him with a disdain look. "Do I look like I will be attracted to him? For goodness sake."
"Well, he was known for his beauty. With that status he has, there's no single lady won't be attracted to him."
"Spare me with that thought."
"You don't like it? Him?"
This topic is getting annoying. "There's no way I'd like someone as concieted as him."
After answering him, we continue walking until we reach our destination. Which is the inn we are occupying.
Flora and Sahana welcome us.
"Sahana! Goodness what's with that look?!" I was shocked seeing him so stress like this. His eyes is telling me that he needs some sleep!
"Are you overworking yourself now?!"
"Milady..." He whisper at me. "Master's been giving me a lot of work as soon as we came here!"
"Tsk, get some rest now."
"I will really rest."
"Good, so have you finished your work?"
"I still need to check something later."
My oh-so gentle Sahana, overworking himself.
"Milady, I have prepared your snacks. Do you want to change your dress now?" Flora, being Flora, started taking care of me.
Sahana left telling me he'll sleep for a few hours so I didn't bother him. Eiliff, who suddenly disappeared without saying a word is nowhere to be found now. Anyways, I haven't thank him yet for today.
I get back inside my room and let Flora help with changing my dress.
"By the way Flora, there will be fireworks later. Do you wanna watch it?"
"Milady, the rooftop has been prepared for that."
"Rooftop? You mean to say?"
"Master has requested to prepare a place to watch the fireworks later. A lot of people will be watching the fireworks display later, so it's a given that we will be staying here to watch."
That's too bad. I wanted to watch the fireworks with a lot of people at the center.
But then, the memory of dealing with that Earl makes me agree with Flora.
"Flora..."
She stops from making the bed and look at me. "Yes Milady? Do you need anything?"
"Ah, no, I just wanted to ask."
"What is it? I will answer anything as long as I can."
After saying that I let her sit next to me and handed her some food to eat.
"You are aware of the place I came from right?" Was my first question.
"Of course Milady, Sir Sahana and the master informed me."
"What did they tell you?"
Flora was a bit confuse but she was still oblige to answer my question. "For a mere servant like me, knowing the place you came from was a shock. Came from another world is out of my knowledge Milady. I was not aware of such thing."
I see.
"-- Then Sir Sahana told me about the incident of getting you here to our w-world, he told me that I have to take care of you and makes you feel comfortable as long as you are here with us." She became emotional. "But thinking of you leaving us breaks my heart, Milady."
Leaving? Oh, yeah. I still have to go back to my own world. Maybe I have been enjoying here lately that I almost forgot about it.
"And that information must be kept a secret no matter what."
"So, in short I have to live here like you guys? I mean, I lived in a modern world. There has a huge difference honestly. From the way you address people, to the clothes you wear."
"Yes, Milady. I understand."
"Ah, so I wanted to know about these nobles here?"
"Nobles... You mean the Noble family from the Purrley house?"
I nodded my head. "Yes, I don't quite understand that. About how they own such territory."
"This Tohans Town has been the territory of the Count family."
"Then? Like what? Like managing this town? A politician?"
"The Nobles here are ranked accordingly, Milady. They are from the Count Purrley House, but they have the backing of the king."
"Was that, King, queen, duke, duchess, marquess? Count? Viscount ? Earl?"
Flora started explaining me the differences of their rank. There comes the king, obviously. They are like a monarchy here. The king's words are law.
They have great knights, as how Flora explain. Those knights came from the Dukedom.
"Then, how about the magicians? I mean the Red tower magician?"
"As Master Eiliff from the red tower is far different from them. Despite the honorable noble blood, and from the royalties, Master came first as the real protector of the land. He may not look like it, but a huge responsibility has been passed on his shoulders ever since becoming the Tower's master."
He is like the guardian. Despite the knights they mentioned, and the magic every people capable of using here. There's still a huge difference compare to his magic. He is like the greatest magician of this land. Rather the continent.
Flora even mentioned about the other magicians from the different lands. Some of them have a different beliefs, when it comes to great magic. But they are being held responsible of every person's safety.
That's why there has an academy especialized in magic. Controlling magic.
"Thanks."
"It will take time for you to return to your world Milady, but this mere servant will do everything in my power to keep you safe and comfortable with us."
The genuinity of her worlds makes me feel less worried. She's true to her jobs, as my maid-servant. And as someone who could give me some informations in this strange world I live for now.
After taking a nap, as what Flora told me, I remember Sahana. I hope he's resting well now.
I look outside the balcony, and it's almost night. Darkness covering the sunlight, the silhouette from the sun is mesmirizing.
What a nice view.
As a writer, I could easily describe this beauty I am seeing just by barely memorizing the feeling. But I can't get a hold a pen for me, and it's really hard using te quill and ink here, so I stop trying.
Flora reminded me to have dinner. The entire inn is so silent, so the magicians must be out and doing their jobs.
It was only me and Flora, so I have to ask her to dine with me instead.
"Where's Eiliff, by the way?"
"The Master mentioned that he'll be back to work."
Even the three idiots are not here. "How about Dave?"
"Sir Dave is with Sir Sahana milady."
And since only Flora and I left in this inn, I took my time sweetly resting while waiting for the firework display.
I guess everyone is busy tonight.
