Chapter 83 - Chapter 82: The Workings Of A Plan

Outside Dr. Maureen's Office, Parking Lot, Denver , Colorado...

Julia Rawsone was filled with immense panic as she, Colin Winters, and Dr. Maureen Welch gave their statements to the police whom had arrived at the scene. The last thing they needed was to have Hadrian doing who knows what at any given time, especially when he had not been in his right mind. Maureen sighed as she paced back n forth between Colin and Julia. She hadn't been fond of either of them, given the way they both treated Hadrian in the past and apparent present but she knew there was more to what was going on and the issue with his Dissociative Identity Disorder wasn't just a recent occurrence. From what Maureen could gather, Hadrian was ill for quite some time and either Julia never noticed it due to her being self absorbed with her affair and the girls or she never knew about it due to his ability to hide it.

It was clear that Hadrian was unaware of his mental health issues himself or he would have sought treatment. From what Colin supplied, Hadrian was given to aggression as a boy, getting into fights at school and so forth to the point of them actually putting him in counseling until his mother had taken him out of it.

"Colin....what was the name of Hadrian's doctor from when he was a child?" asked Maureen. "He had to have been seeing a mental health professional due to his behavior as a child and clearly "Lonnie" has been around for quite some time, but was dormant until something triggered his reawakening."

Colin sighed as he thought back to those dark days in his youth. He wasn't much of a father or a husband back then and cared mostly for himself leaving his poor ex-wife to do all of the heavy lifting when it came to their only living son.

"He had sessions with a...Dr. Richard Harris." said Colin recalling the name at last. "He seemed to have been doing better, before I left and Mildred stopped his treatment."

"Do you have any idea why she stopped his sessions with Dr. Harris?" asked Maureen quite curious as to what was really going on.

"No idea." replied Colin. "I guess after the divorce she couldn't afford them....she even moved to Fremont with the boy after the fact...last I heard about them during that time, she was killed in an accidental house fire and Hadrian wasn't anywhere to be found."

Julia sighed as her thoughts turned more and more dark.

"I can't believe it's come to this." she said. "I thought I could help him...that you could help him."

"Just relax." replied Maureen evenly. "You've spent more time with Lonnie than anyone I'd wager, is there somewhere he'd go especially to get away from everyone and everything that reminded him of being Hadrian?"

Julia thought for a moment. Then it finally hit her.

"He's probably gone to find out where that little creep is being held." she said. "I knew he had something to do with what happened to my husband, Hadrian wasn't acting like this at all until that weirdo came into our lives."

"Alexei Bortnik." said Maureen recalling the name of the young man whom Hadrian appeared to have become attached to during their sessions.

"He's done something to Hadrian." said Julia almost bitterly. "I know he had something to do with the kidnapping a few months back and it's clear he has some sort of hold over this Lonnie and Hadrian by extension....he wasn't like this before Maureen...not even a little bit."

"What are you saying?" asked Colin confused.

"I'm saying that whatever this personality shift is...drugs or whatever else it's definitely the fault of Alexei Bortnik and he's going to pay for it." declared Julia determined to not let the slippery lad win.

"It is my understanding that Lonnie appears emotionally attached to this Alexei." said Maureen. "Hadrian mentioned something happening to him in a barn of some sort, that he was surrounded by hay and a blond woman was riding him to initiate sex and he felt ashamed for enjoying it and that he couldn't tell who it was."

"It was that little creepy bastard." said Julia knowing all too well how Alexei operated in terms of his tendency to indulge in sex with her husband. "He possibly raped Hadrian and triggered this whole mess in the first place."

"Given his history, that's not surprising." replied Colin with a sigh. "And to think the boy still can't seem to keep from being the target of such unscrupulous individuals."

"When he returned after being shot the doctors said he had an unusual amount of drugs in his system, perhaps that's why he'd acting this way." said Julia saddened. "I should have known...Alexei had rubbed me the wrong way from the start and all Hadrian tried to do was help him."

Julia began to panic.

"What if we can't find him?" she asked. "What if Alexei does even worse to him this time and we can't get him back?"

"We have him committed." said Colin evenly.

Both Maureen and Julia looked at him confused.

"Think about it, if he's in a padded cell he isn't a danger and this Alexei can't get to him." said Colin. "I didn't do a thing to assist my son in the past when he needed me most and I'll be damned if I let anyone bring him to harm now that he has a chance at a real future...committing him is the way to go to keep him away from that nut job Bortnik."

Julia looked at Maureen who seemed to think it the best course of action as well.

"It's just until we can properly treat him." she said noting Julia's horror at the idea. "And we wouldn't have to worry about outside interference."

"But the girls." said Julia thinking of what her daughters might have to say about what's going on with their father.

"They don't have to know." replied Colin. "It's a temporary thing, soon as he's back to his old self it will be a thing of the past."

"Given his violent tendencies and unpredictability for the most part, Julia it's the only option you have." said Maureen.

"But he'll lose everything his patients his practice." said Julia.

"I'll handle everything in that regard, we simply need to find a way to make Hadrian better and committing him is the first step in that direction." urged Maureen.

Julia sighed wondering if she was making a terrible mistake but she agreed it would keep Hadrian from doing anything horrible and away from Alexei's influence.

"Alright." she said evenly. "I'll do it, I'll have him committed once we find him."

"Good." said Colin with a sigh. "Now all that's left is to track him down."

The three of them racked their collective brains trying to figure out what Lonnie would do and where he'd go in order to stop him before he disappeared forever beyond their reach. There was no telling what the apparently unhinged Alexei Bortnik had done to him or was currently doing and they feared for his safety nonetheless.
