The Home Office, The Rawsone Residence, Denver, Colorado...
Hadrian Rawsone found himself soloing much of his day which had been fine by him, he had a good deal of case files to catch up on and seemed very interested in his past case with Alexei Bortnik. He did not know why, but the details of the tragic boy's case seemed to stick with him even though he wasn't his doctor any longer. He sat in his office rummaging through his desk drawers when he found a manila envelope and a few strange letters. They were written in handwriting that possibly belonged to a child and all of them were signed via the same signature "A.B." Hadrian took a special interest in these letters even back then as he'd bothered to keep them. Quickly concluding that "A.B." must have had something to do with young Alexei, he looked over a few of them. The major details of the case eluded him due to having been off his game as of late, but he was quite sure he'd been very fond of the lad and they'd been close.
Hadrian opened one of the letters, it was ancient and barely legible possibly due to the boy having been fourteen years old when he'd written it and still not quite used to lettering in the English language. There was a feeling of regret that filled him because he had not been able to keep his promise to Alexei and help him following his dismissal from the case. It was difficult for him in those days, like losing a child for the second time in such a short time. He often wondered what became of the boy he failed and how they treated him once he'd gone. The good doctor managed to ensure Alexei got into a program where he could be considered emancipated due to having no known living relatives and being that he was nearly sixteen years of age and in the right state, he could have been considered an adult by then and free to live his young life however he pleased.
It was certainly a better alternative to him being forced to live with yet another family which would have difficulties dealing with his special status. Hadrian had only wanted the best for the curiously shy boy who couldn't seem to get many people to love him because everyone was so concerned about his birth defect that they didn't bother to get to know him as a person. He had hopes and dreams, the boy even wanted to be a chef when he grew up but no one took the time to see beyond his condition and circumstances.
Hadrian continued to look through the letters until he found one that appeared recent. Possibly one he'd been sent about how the boy was faring. The doctor guessed he'd be about sixteen this year and nearing his seventeenth birthday if he had his dates correct. He wished the boy all the best back then but secretly hoped he'd find a way to reach out when there weren't so many eyes on him and speculation about their mutual interest in one another.
His colleagues deemed his correspondence with young Alexei to have been odd and even a bit obsessive at the time, causing the grounds for his removal despite Hadrian maintaining a professional distance from the boy and simply doing what he'd been paid to do aside from attempting to give the terrified lad a few good memories after a lifetime of bad. He had just lost his only son and Alexei was a boy who had no father. Hadrian didn't see the harm in sharing a few positive bonding moments with the boy, but he had not taken into account that it was his grief that drove his actions back then.
Hadrian opened the newest of the letters marveling at the improvement of Alexei's handwriting and lettering. He unfolded the letter that seemed to have been four pages neatly folded as something fell out of it, he picked it up and found himself staring down at a picture of his wife Julia and a man he recognized to have been Gary, Gary Sanders his best friend since high school, best man at his wedding, and godfather to his twin daughters.
Gary and Julia were in a compromising position with her naked in a random motel with Gary appearing to be naked as well as kissing while they lay in bed together. Hadrian nearly leaped out of his seat unsure of what he was seeing as his mind was going about a mile per minute attempting to process what was happening not only in the picture but in his marriage itself.
Julia was having an affair.
His Julia was sleeping with his best friend...his former best friend.
Julia was having sex with Gary.
Hadrian froze unsure if he trusted himself to even move in that moment as he felt the inevitable shattering of something inside him. It was as if a dam burst and a flood of pain had come rushing at him causing him to weaken in the process as memories of what occurred before his disappearance came flooding back.
He recalled going to his office and meeting Colin Winters for the first time.
They had a meeting and he found out from the few words Colin used to describe his life before meeting his second wife that he couldn't treat the man who had been his biological father despite Hadrian wanting no association with him.
He was going through his desk to find contact information for him to be transferred to a more capable doctor in his stead but he found a manila envelope addressed to him in unfamiliar handwriting. He opened it and found all sorts of pictures of a very naked Julia and Gray Sanders having sex in various positions and various places as they hid their affair from everyone who knew them.
Hadrian was in a hurry that day and his head seemed to ache something fierce. Almost like it had in this current moment. The images continued to bombard Hadrian's weary mind and he felt himself crumbling. All he could see was Julia riding Gary's cock and it made him sick to his stomach. He had loved her since they were teenagers and it was apparent that she didn't feel the same way about him. With his mind racing as it had that day, Hadrian found himself questioning everything. Including whether or not Jessica had been his biological daughter.
He knew already that Samantha had not biologically belonged to him and he accepted it. She was as much a daughter to him as Jessica had been, but he wasn't sure if she had been his with this news of Julia and Gary having an affair behind his back for quite some time. Poor Hadrian felt a sharp pain in his chest as his headache grew worse and the room began to spin around him.
It wasn't long before he lost his footing and collapsed in the center of the office the picture of his wife of nineteen years having sex with his best friend since high school fell to the ground as well landing beside him as he remained unconscious.
Some time passed and the quiet of the house seemed to give way to the groans of a newly awakening Hadrian Rawsone who had gotten to his feet. He looked at the picture and smirked as he sat it back down on the desk.
"You never could handle bad news could you, Doc?" asked the voice of Lonnie who had found yet another way to take control.
He walked over toward a nearby mirror and gazed upon his reflection where he smirked rather wickedly about his upcoming plans.
