Chapter 4 - Chapter 3

The next three months were full of chaos and order. In that time five major guilds and many small guilds began to form and a so called 'Players association ' also rose. The school also changed greatly. It was almost like a hierarchy, and at the top of the food chain was Maia Waterson. She awakened as a S rank elementalist, meaning she could use all 4 elements. Ember was also kept busy due to her high status, so much so that Riu began to even walk to class alone. Of course, he was close to the bottom of the school due to his F rank status but he didn't despair.

"I should find a weapon, a spear would be good." He muttered, he hadn't been able to get his hands on any weapons yet. Perhaps he should just take some blacksmithing lessons and make one himself. It was urgent that he gets some soon, otherwise leveling a s ranking up will be impossible.

"Hey! Riu!" A squeaky voice called out to him.

Turning around, he saw that it was Silvia Ren. She used to have waist length black hair but it turned a slivery white after she got her awakening.

"Hey?" Silvia was an A rank, and the two of them had never spoken before.

"I realized that we walk the same way, want to walk together?" She asked, panting. She was on the tanner side, looks like she went to the beach or something.

"Sure." There was nothing wrong with walking.

Her eyes lot up at that, making them a emerald green. Riu had heard that she had passive skill of the sort but couldn't think of any from the game and never cared to ask.

The walk was mostly filled with awkward silence. Riu didn't know what to say and she didn't seem to be starting any conversations. That was fine, he has a lot to think about anyways. Getting into blacksmithing classes are easy, he can go to the counselor later today, but it was getting to the tower. From what Riu knew the Players association only stopped players from entering certain dungeons. The tower was free reign.

"So, what do you plan to do today?" Silvia asked, breaking the silence.

"I plan on getting a new class." Let's keep it short and simple

"Cool! Say want to sit with me and my friends at lunch?" She beamed at him

"No thanks."

"Why? You and Ember always ate lunch together but now she's too busy. You need new friends." Too pushy.

Riu decided against answering her. The school finally came to sight.

"Well see you later!" She ran into the building.

Okay. . . ? Riu made his way towards Mr. Forts' room.

"Mr. Micgrove? How may I help you today?"

"Can I get a new class?"

"You know that class changes are unavailable now?"

"I know, but that's only if the class is full right?"

"Well,"

" I want Mr. Doug's class." Mr. Doug taught the blacksmithing class.

"Oh I see." Mr. Forts turned to his computer and begane typing away. Soon he handed Riu a paper.

"I changed your elective computer class. I'll send your teacher an email." He said

Although its sad he had to drop his favorite class, getting a weapon is priority.

"Thank you sir." Riu bowed to him and left the room.

He looked over the schedule. Perfect. Let's get to class.

* * *

The class was quite amusing. I was the only one in there. Does no one think that blacksmithing is important ? You can gain many useful skills and items.

"Do you understand?" Mr. Doug asked

"Yessir." He already knew how to do this. He'll just come after school to make it.

Riu took his place and started to sort through the metals. It wasn't long till the bell rang.

"See you tomorrow!" Riu ran out of the class. He decided to just skip lunch. Better then running into Silvia's group.

Deciding on the garden, Riu made his way. The garden was a beautiful a s peaceful place that not many people enjoyed. For Riu, it was a safe place.

He laid back and closed his eyes.

"Ow!" His head hit something hard

Turning he saw a silver metal, glistening in the Sun. He picked it. It wasn't hot and very light for it's size. It was bigger the his palm. He knew immediately what it was. It was 'Dwarf Silver." It was the strongest metal in the game, and here it is. Just how lucky was he?

Grabbing his book bag, he place the ore in there gently. All be needed now was good wood. The game was important for the spear.

"There you are!"

Riu groaned internally. Silvia, Marcus and Lily were all walking towards him.

"You didn't come to lunch so we went looking for you." Silvia said.

It took one look on Marcus and Lily to know how they felt. He knew that they didn't truly want to be his friends. Did they forget the years of bullying?

"Come on." Silvia grabbed his arm and pulled Riu to his feet.

"Leave me alone." He said, yanking his arm away.

"What did you say punk?" Marcus walked up and stood face to face with him.

Marcus was huge, a lot bigger then Riu. A losing fight.

"What's happening here?"

Everyone looked over to see Ember walking towards them. Marcus hastily backed off.

"Well?" She put her hand on her hips as she waited for an answer.

"We were asking him why he didn't come to lunch." Silvia said, glaring at her.

"We're eating here." She said, glaring back.

"Then shall we join you?" Silvia took her place besides where Riu was just sitting.

Riu was internally thankful that he has found the ore when he did.

"Whatever." Ember plopped down and pulled out two lunches.

"How have you been?" She asked, looking straight at Riu.

"Fine. What about you?" This was more awkward than the walk to the school!

"It's actually been quite fun. I'll take you to the tower tomorrow if you want." She said smiling.

Another problem solved. Ember had to be a goddess in disguise.

"Is that so?" Silvia asked

"What?" Ember glared at her

"He's an F rank, he won't survive in there." She said

"He will. I can protect him if need be." She huffed

"You?"

"What about it?" The two entered a glaring contest

What was wrong with girls? Always fighting. Riu decided to focus on his sandwich. It was more important to get a weapon then.

"Let's go." Silvia stood up and walked off, not a single glance behind her.

"How'd you get caught up with that snake?" Ember asked, watching the three of them disappear.

"I dunno. Say do you know anyone selling wood?"

"Wood? no I don't think so."

"Okay. Thanks."

"No problem?"

The rest of the lunch was filled with how their days have been. Ember was busy in the tower trying to level up.

"See ya later!" Soon they parted ways.

It was time to get to the blacksmith class. The last period of the day was English, Mr. MacMillan. He was pretty chill, allowing kids who already finished their work to skip the lecture. All Riu has to do was send him a quick text and he was good to go.

Getting wood is now the priority.

There might be some in the storage room, he thought, it was worth a shot. The storage room was were all the 'useless' junk was thrown. These people.

The room was packed with items and ores. So much useful stuff, but no one to make them useful.

"What's this?" He pulled out a long slender piece of black wood. It was divided into sections by round pieces of wood.

"This, who would ever think that such a amazing item was useless?" Riu slid his hands down the pole. He knew exactly what this was. He used the same wood to make his spear in the game. It was called 'Dead man's cane.' Though it wasn't curved at the top.

With both the 'dead man's cane' and "Dwarfs silver' he could make an even better spear. The making of the weapon is also a huge factor in the quality of the item, if done poorly it could cost you a limb or even your life. Normally Riu would go to a master blacksmith, but there were none right now.

Everyone is too busy with offensive skills yadda yadda. Although his skills aren't the best, it was all he can rely on. He started to make his way back to Mr. Doug's classroom. Thankfully, he was his only student so there was no one in there at the moment.

He would have to do this quickly before Me. Doug got back. Just as instructed, Riu began the process of making the spear. Heating the fire, and purifying the ore. It was very important to do so, or you could end up with a black item. Or an item that eats at your life force.

Minutes turned into hours as Riu hammered away. He has to constantly stop to make sure no one was coming. Mr. Doug has indeed walked in but Riu was able to hide everything before hand and make the excuse of cleaning up. He was lucky that he believed him so easily. It wasn't till much after school ended that he finished.

Lifting the spear in the air, Riu felt a sense of accomplishment. It was beautiful. Finally, he was ready for tomorrow. It was time to level up.
