CRYSTAL
The morning sun shone through the window, bathing our bedroom in a warm light. I rolled over and gazed at Erik, my heart filled with love. As we lay there together, I heard a loud knock on the door.
I got out of bed and opened the door to find my sister Carrie standing there, tears streaming down her face.
"What's wrong?" I asked as I let her enter.
She sat on the couch and said, "Mom and I got into a fight. I am not getting back home. I don't want to see her ever again. Can I stay here?"
I looked at Erik, who nodded his consent, and then back to Carrie. "Of course you can stay here," I said, sitting down beside her and putting my arm around her.
Carrie's sobs subsided and she looked up at me, her eyes red and puffy. "Thank you, Crystal. Thank you so much."
