The General's Delicious Wife Chapter 066 : The Midnight Thief's Shadow

"Let go if you don't want to die!" Qin Zheng was not suppressed by Feng Qi's imposing manner, he stopped his hand that was applying the medication, and looked at him straight in the eye.

Feng Qi stared at him for a long time, his pliers-like grip slowly loosened, and then fell weakly to his side.

Qin Zheng continued to pour the sore medicine on his wound.

Feng Qi did not reveal the slightest sign of weakness from his expression. One could barely tell from the tight clench of his jaw that he was fighting back the pain at this moment.

The sore medicine was brought back by Xue Zhuang from the army. It worked extremely quickly and stopped the blood after applying it for awhile.

Qin Zheng bandaged Feng Qi's wound with a clean cloth and covered him with a quilt. Then he wiped his sweat and told him, "Your wound is too deep. It's best not to move around recklessly in the short term."

Feng Qi stared at the wound that was wrapped in layers, then raised the corners of his lips after a long pause and chuckled, "You sure are bold, daring to rescue me without even inquiring how I got myself injured?"

"No matter how you got injured we couldn't just watch you die!" Xia Yue Chu's voice rang from the outside.

Feng Qi suddenly tensed up on his guard, until he saw a young woman entering the house with a basket, he relaxed again, twitching his nose and said with a smile, "I seem to be smelling sauced stewed fish."

"What a cat nose you have!" Xia Yue Chu remarked, putting the maize cakes and the leftover stewed fish from their dinner on the edge of the brick bed.

After Feng Qi was injured, he escaped in the middle of the night. His stomach was already uncomfortably empty. Now that his wound had been properly dealt with, all the more he felt hungry to the point that his gastric hurts.

One of his legs was inconvenient, so he could only lean backwards on the pillar behind him, grabbed a maize cake and hastily took a major bite.

Although his throat burned from choking, he felt a lot of better in his stomach when he had consumed food, then he grabbed a pair of chopsticks and started eating the sauced fish.

Seeing that he was gobbling up like a wolf and that his spirit was pretty good, he probably would not be dying anytime soon.

Xia Yue Chu felt a little relieved, she took out two candles and a flint stone and set it on the edge of the brick bed, "Leaving these things with you for emergency use. It's for the best if you don't have to use it, if the people from the village were to see something, I'm afraid trouble might arise."

Feng Qi nodded while he had not been idle with his mouth. A bowl of stewed fish had already reached its bottom and he did not even waste any of the sauce. He cleaned it up, eating with the maize cakes completely.

Seeing him finish eating, Xia Yue Chu packed up the things and reminded him again, "You should just stay here to recuperate for the next few days. Ah Zheng will come over to deliver you food and change your medicine. If you have no other business, don't wander about."

Qin Zheng grunted as he heard what she said but he did not refuse.

Feng Qi smacked his lips together, recalling the aftertaste of the delicious stewed fish and shot a charming smile at Xia Yue Chu with his pair of phoenix eyes.

"Not to mention anything else, I can't bear to leave for the sake of such good food!"

"Sister-in-law." Qin Zheng glared at Feng Qi, and deliberately raised his voice a little bit, "It's getting late, we should go back, otherwise Big Brother will be worried."

Xia Yue Chu was taken aback by him, fearing of attracting strangers here, she quickly made a silent gesture.

Feng Qi blinked his innocent eyes, as if he had seen through everything, he looked at Qin Zheng with a smile somewhat.

The two returned home from the thatched house. Both the main room and the East wing room had their light put out, only Xue Zhuang was still waiting for them with an oil lamp, with a flame the size of a bean.

"Big Brother, haven't we told you to go to sleep first?" Qin Zheng filled a bucket of water from the well to wash up before entering the door, wiped his face carelessly, and entered the house with a trace of moisture.

Xia Yue Chu was more careful, she brought back all the bloody cloth towels, stuffed them into the fire pit and mixed it with the remaining charcoal fire, she was relieved only after watching everything burnt clean.

"Is that person okay?"Xue Zhuang asked.

"There is no butt problem with him at all, I saw him in good spirits, and he is even eating heartier than me." Qin Zheng jumped up onto the brick bed and helped Xue Zhuang lie down. He pressed down the corners of his quilt and waited for Xia Yue Chu to go into the inner room before blowing out the oil lamp.

Before they could fall asleep, footsteps could be heard coming from the yard, and it appeared to be heading their direction.

The other party seemed to be trying hard to keep his movements quiet, and stopped as he reached the door.

But this noise did not escape the ears of Qin Zheng and Xue Zhuang, and the two became alert at once.

Qin Zheng got up in a flip and sneaked close to the door.

There was a shuffling sound outside the door, then following that, a thin piece of iron stretched in from the crack of the door, slowly inching the door latch away.

It was obviously not the first time this person had done such a thing. He was very familiar with the technique. He quickly pushed the door latch aside and gently opened the door.

The thief tried to feel his way around in the dark, completely missing Qin Zheng who was hiding behind the door. He found all the way in to the edge of the brick bed and opened the trunk attached to the bed, he reached in and searched around.

Through the faint moonlight, Qin Zheng saw that the thief was not small in built, and he was afraid that he would not be able to stop him in an instant and might hurt Xue Zhuang. So he simply pulled out a sack from behind the door, rushed over, covered the thief's head in one swoop, and started swinging his fists and feet at him.

Xia Yue chu heard the noise in the inner room and hurriedly put on her outer layer of clothes to come out and check. Seeing that Qin Zheng had already have the person under control, she quickly lit up the lamp, opened the door and shouted out, "Come somebody, there is a thief in the house!"

This thief was a strange person. He gritted his teeth and did not make a sound when he was being beaten, not bothering to release himself from the sack, he was merely crashing to the left and to the right trying to escape Qin Zheng.

Qin Zheng became even more suspicious when he noticed this, wondering if this person was an acquaintance. How would he give him any chance to run away, he picked up a baton beside the brick bed and hit accurately on his kneecaps.

The thief let out a cry and landed on both his knees. He would be unable to stand up or run away temporarily.

When the main room and the east wing room heard Xia Yue Chu shouting, they quickly lit up their lamps.

Xue Liang Ping had not even bothered with wearing his outer layer of clothes, he ran out in his middle wear with a fire wood tongs that he picked up randomly in his hand, fretting about, "Where is the thief?"

Qin Zheng replied, "Uncle Xue, he is here! This kid snatched pass the door latch and sneaked in quietly, he was searching through the bed trunk blindly when I caught him red-handedly!"

Xue Liang Ping rushed into the room, held up the fire wood tongs and gave a good beating without uncovering the person's face as he cursed, "This little thief who haven't grown any eyes (Meaning: this little blind thief), daring to steal upon your grandpa Xue's head (Meaning: within his territory), see if I can forgive you easily!"

Madam Sheng first checked her money box in the house, and saw that it had not been moved, then she put on her clothes with peace of mind and came out to see what was going on.

Xue Li in the east wing was also awakened by the ruckus, and he came out to join the activity. He aimed at the thief who was curling up like a tiny shrimp and kicked him harshly, then he grabbed the sack bag and declared, "I want to see where this sacred deity is from, to be so daring enough to steal from our family."

Madam Sheng was not pleased with Xia Yue Chu recently, it seemed that every major event would be linked to her.

She flipped her eyelids and glared at Xia Yue Chu, chiding, "Someone in the family has gained the ability to make money, isn't that how others would be targeting you immediately, otherwise with our family virtue of being so poor, even the thief would not care to come."

Xue Li yanked hard twice, but failed to get rid of the sack. He bend his head down for a look and found that the thief was holding onto the sack tightly with his hands.

"Aiyo, could it be someone we know?" Xue Li showed an evil smirk, stepped on the thief's hand and forcefully twisted with his heel twice.

The thief wailed out and had to loosen his grip unwillingly.

Xue Li pulled the sack away and held the oil lamp close to the thief's face.

The thief tried hard to bury his head between his arms, but with everyone pushing and pulling, everyone eventually had a clear look on his face.

The fire wood tongs in Xue Liang Ping's hand dropped to the ground with a bang.

Xue Li was so shocked that he almost threw away the oil lamp in his hand.
