The agreed-upon 24 hours were up, yet Desmond was still stuck in traffic. He was so worried about Sam that he hadn't slept for two days. Just when the anxiety over Sam's safety wasn't so much in his mind, he began to feel sleepy. Desmond slept off by 6 in the morning by the side of the bed, and the exchange was supposed to happen by 8 a.m.
If Baron hadn't woken Desmond up, he would have most likely missed the appointed time for the exchange. Desmond felt extremely angry at himself, but he didn't have time to beat himself up about it. He quickly took his bath and left the house; he had no appetite to put anything in his mouth.
