Desmond was glad the whole Mickey incident was short-lived. He was a bit worried about Sam's overreaction the day before, but it turned out to be fine. Sam found Mickey in his former apartment as he was about to head out. If they were 5 minutes late, they would have missed him completely, and Sam would have never seen him again.
Desmond let Mickey and Sam have their talk while he went back to his responsibilities for the day. Mickey and Sam talked for over an hour, but in the end, they both reconciled. Sam, though, was surprised and flattered to learn that Mickey had liked them from the beginning.
Although she felt bad for not being able to reciprocate his feelings, she promised to become a better friend.
