Chapter 110 - The Awakening

"Sam."

Desmond said after she sat down. His voice was calm and his smile was as cold and lovely as frost on a windowpane. 

"I don't know how you got this idea but…"he paused looked around once more and sighed. " Isn't this a bit too much? I'm moved but why would you put in so much effort to surprise me. I can't say I don't appreciate it but.. "

He didn't finish. He probably didn't know how to. It was clear by his expressions that he was very happy at first but now it felt like something was wrong. 

Sam felt her plan was foolproof so she was surprised at Desmond's sudden change in mood. She gulped and thought of a reply to his question. The way she saw it, a mistake at the moment could turn this whole setting into a disaster. She decided to be honest. Desmond couldn't lash out at her honesty at least. And even if he did, then it just meant her plan was doomed from the start.
