Chapter 97 - Chinaware 

The dinnerware was shining. The Maids hadn't begun dishing the meals but Sam and Desmond were already seated. They had arrived earlier at the dining table partly because they both didn't have anything to do the rest of the day. There was an awkward silence. Desmond's fake cough only seemed to make it worse. Sam excused herself. She was glad her bladder gave her an excuse to escape the tension in the room. Sam spent more than five minutes before returning to the table. The Maids performed their serving duties with such professionalism that Sam remembered just how far up in society she currently is. Her bathroom break though wasn't enough. The unexplainable awkwardness still hung in the air. Desmond would have broken the silence ages ago if he could think of something to start the conversation.
