The room wasn't silent not when the grandfather clock was ticking so loudly and faint noises could be heard from outside. It was probably the construction workers starting their day. Desmond paid the noises no mind as he focused his gaze on Gloria.
"Miss Gloria I'm sure there will be no interruptions here let's just get straight to business I'm a very busy man and I'm sure you have other things you would like to do this morning."
"I'm all ears, Mr. Desmond."
"May I ask how your business is going first of all?"
Gloria scrunched up her eyebrows at the question. He had just said he wanted to get straight to the point. She answered anyway wondering how the question would lead to the matters at hand.
"It's going great, Thank you."
"Good. That's what I thought. I'm sure you would like it to keep going well wouldn't you?"
Gloria coughed, disoriented by his question.
