Marcus haven't let go of her hand since he took her by the hand in the middle of their work
He couldn't release and the situation even demands he holds her hand without passing himself as possessive or anything. Aside from the urge to keep her close to himself, he always wanted to give her part of his warmth just in case she was freezing from the cold.
Holding on to her thin, fragile fingers in his large and callused ones seems so unreal even to him. It was a strange feeling for him but from the little smile on her face, he could tell she was more than okay with their current situation to think about what his palm looked like and that he was grateful for.
But then again, the feel of her soft skin against his was not really helping him. His already harden erection was growing by the second and he doesn't know how long he'd go before he exploded.
With a huge visible bulge in his pant, he continued to lead her through fallen logs and mountain of snow covering the ground. Her safety was top of his priority at that point and nothing else. He'd tear and jump anyone that tries to even lay a finger on her.
Marcus senses was on full alert as she was completely protected at this point even if she doesn't know it.
His thought wandered even more to the point where he would eventually have to hand her over to her people once they made it out of the forest. Marcus wonder if he would be able to let her go and even if he did, would she agree to see him again?
What if she is seeing someone and tells him no. Fuck. Why hasn't he thought of that before? A beautiful woman like Laura can't possibly be single right?
Christ.
Even if she did, Marcus doubt he would be able to let her go even if she was married. Firstly, she did be in danger of getting caught by Lin. He already had his eyes set on her and he doubt he did let her go just like that unless he has a worthy opponent to stop him and Marcus already think himself more than worthy.
In fact, they still have a score to settle once and for all.
Lin MacArthur had took something from he and his brothers and now it seems he want his mate for reasons he can only terms as selfish.
That old bat has always been a nuisance and maybe it's time he take him out for life. 300 years of existence or more is just more than enough for one person to cause so much trouble for everyone, especially he and his brothers.
Marcus began to think of a way to win her trust more. Maybe make them friends just so the idea of seeing her again become possible.
He needed to come up with a suitable conversation. One that doesn't in any way seem forced. Heck, Lucien his brother was better at this than he could ever be.
He was always the one with those pick up lines from movies and now he wished he also has some of those to get her to talk to him easily.
He continued to think for a little while longer and before he gave up trying to find something extra ordinary to talk about and simply just went for it.
"So, uhm, Where are you from?" He blurted out and she burst out laughing.
"Uhm, I'm sorry. That didn't come out right. I know you are from here and shouldn't have asked. I'm just nervous I guess"
Laura agreed with a nod.
"It's okay, Marcus. You can ask me anything you like. No need to be that way"
"Okay" Marcus answered before scratching the back of his neck slightly with a smile.
"So, uhm, Eddy tell me you are twenty. Are you really twenty? Because you don't look twenty"
She arched a brow, "You think I look older?"
"No, you look younger, way younger and lovely too" he said sharply and her smile only grew.
"Thanks for the compliment, Marcus and yes. I'm really twenty. I will be twenty one by next spring so yeah, I may look younger but I guess that's just nature"
"Yeah, That's true"
The duo were silent for another minute before she spoke up again.
"So how about you, Marcus. Do you live around here? Do you have brothers, sisters?, family? I mean, I haven't seen you before"
"I live around here too. In a farm with my two brothers. Jackson and Lucien. No sisters, our parent are late and we mostly keep to ourselves so you won't see us in town much"
"I'm sorry about your parent. It must have hurt when you lost them"
Marcus gave shrug, "Yeah, it did hurt but it's been ten years since and it doesn't hurt that much as before"
"Okay" She said with a nod before glancing back at him momentarily before her eyes moved away back ahead.
"I haven't been in a farm before you know?"
"Really?" Marcus practically cried out in excitement before getting a grip on himself just as quickly.
"I mean, you can come by our farm and see things for yourself if you are up for it" He offered and watched her eyes light up with joy.
"You would let me come by?"
"Yeah, I mean why not?"
"I don't know. You did mentioned you and your brothers like to keep to yourselves so I don't think you might appreciate a stranger snooping around, you know?"
Marcus chuckled, "Yeah, you are right but only a special kind of stranger are allowed and besides, you and I ain't strangers"
Laura arched a single brow at him with a smile playing at her lips, "We aren't?"
"No, I will like to think we are more than strangers even though we don't know it just yet"
Laura gave a careless shrug, "Alright. I will like to think that too" she said with a laugh, a wonderful sound that vibrated through her chest and into Marcus ears and causing his heart to skip another beat.
How can one person be this perfect in the eyes of another. No one could understand the emotional rollercoaster going through his body. Only his brothers would come this close to understanding it if they were to see him now.
"Be careful there, That's deeper than it looked" He said and quickly pulled her away from the ditch she was walking herself into and back against him.
