Chapter 9 - Brett Peterson

DING DONG!

It was next day after dinner and the family was eating breakfast before they started their days. Suddenly the doorbell rang and Lauren quickly went to open the door.

CLICK!

Lauren opened the door only to find Madison wearing an oversized coat and with rosy cheeks from the cold; "Hello Mrs. Zirel, can I come in?"

Lauren smiled and said; "Of course you can sweetie."

Madison quickly walked into the house, looking around for something. When she walked into the kitchen, she saw Ambrose digging into his food. She couldn't help but notice his perfect muscles that his t-shirt couldn't hide and blushed slightly.

"Ambrose!" Madison called out in her sweet voice and with puppy eyes. "Do you want to go to school together?"

"Sure, just let me finish up." Ambrose couldn't help but say yes when looking at those expectant eyes.

Madison smiled beautifully at his answer. Soon Ambrose went upstairs to grab his coat and bag, though he didn't need the coat as it was just for appearances.

"Come on let's go!" Madison lightly stomped her feet.

"Yeah, yeah."

Madison and Ambrose talked about many things while walking to school. Ranging from politics to simple family life. Ambrose normally wouldn't be interested in politics, let alone know anything about the topic but he had started reading recently as he learned that knowledge is power.

BANG!

Halfway through their walk to school they were interrupted by a loud noise. In a secluded alley 5 students were beating on another. Ambrose normally wouldn't have given it a second thought but he looked closer and saw who it was.

It was Brett Peterson, the former football star whom Astar mentioned. Completely helpless after being thrown off of his wheelchair, Brett could only cover his head and neck with his arms.

"Fuck you Brett!"

BANG!

"Not such a tough fucker now, huh?!"

CRACK!

Another student smashed a random piece of scrap wood over Brett's body.

"Ambrose… let's get out of here." Madison clutched the hem of his hoodie tightly and looked away.

Ambrose immediately understood that Madison felt uncomfortable.

"Just wait here." Ambrose said calmly as he took steady steps into the alley.

STEP!

STEP!

Making his footsteps heard, all 5 bullies looked up. Seeing the face of a pretty boy, they didn't take it seriously.

"Get the fuck out of here pretty boy!" One of them said as he started walking up to Ambrose to intimidate him into leaving.

Before he could react he was being pulled by the collar and the felt a sharp pain in his chest.

PLOP!

The bully fell to his knees holding his chest where his heart is. 'My heart stopped.' He had this terrifying thought as he could feel his blood stop flowing and his lungs stop working.

WHEEZE!

Finally, he could breathe again. With cold sweat running down his face he slowly looked up to see the deadly coldness hidden in Ambrose's blue eyes.

"AHHHHH!" The bully quickly got up and ran away with terror on his face.

'That move… quickly jabbing in a certain spot on the chest will stop a person's heart for half a second. The feeling a normal human will get during that half a second would demoralize them and in turn lose their ability to fight.' Ambrose silently nodded to himself in his head.

"What the hell did you do to Josh?! Boys get this shit!" The larger bully barked out orders, allowing Ambrose to identify him as the leader of the group.

Two more stepped forward. The first threw a straight punch at Ambrose's face with his right arm. Ambrose shifted slightly to the left before raising his right arm and lightly deflected the punch to the right, which caused the bully to lose his balance slightly and tumble slightly to his right right. With perfect timing, Ambrose twisted his hips and threw a vicious left elbow perfectly onto the bully's chin.

CRACK!

"AHHHHHHH!"

Blood and teeth shot out of his mouth, spraying on the brick wall of the alley. The bully fell down trying to hold in whatever teeth that were left in his mouth.

Ambrose wasted no time. Quickly grabbing the arm and collar of the 3rd bully, he slammed him headfirst into the wall without looking back.

SLAM!

The bully slowly slid down the wall before collapsing on the floor whilst holding his bloody nose in agony.

Madison who had been watching the whole thing happen with narrowed eyes thought; 'That's not school boy fighting, that's high level combat.'

Madison was not just your everyday high schooler. Her father was once the captain of an elite black ops unit and had taught her how to defend herself since she was young. Once, a boy at school tried to put a hand on her and she broke his arm in 11 different places.

"Who the hell is this guy?!"

"Who cares, just run!"

The last two quickly ran away, leaving their buddies with Ambrose and a beaten up Brett alone in the alley.

Brett had been watching what was happening the whole time with wide eyes. He could not imagine that a person the same age as him could fight to that degree.

Brett was suddenly disturbed from his thoughts by a voice; "Hey are you okay?"

"U-Uh yeah, I'm fine…" Brett said absentmindedly.

"Here." Ambrose said before standing up Brett's wheelchair straight and putting his bag on the back. Then, he picked Brett up by the arms like a child and plopped him on the chair.

"I should get going, I'm going to be late." Ambrose said nonchalantly as he turned to leave under the gaze of the dumbfounded Brett.

Just as he was about to leave, he stopped for a moment. With a slight hesitation, Ambrose turned around and whispered something indistinct in Brett's ear and then walked towards Madison.

Brett's eyes shot open in shock as he watched Ambrose's receding back.

"Wait! What's your name?!"

"Ambrose, Ambrose Zirel."

"Ambrose Zirel…" Brett muttered.

Madison hopped to Ambrose excitedly as she beamed liked the sun; "Ambrose, where did you learn to fight like that?"

Ambrose just smiled as he thought of Astar; "From family."

"Hmm? Family?" Madison was confused but put the thought to the back of her mind as she happily walked with Ambrose the rest of the way.
