Noises could be heard and the one their ears could make the most of came from one annoying source. A Wall Worker sitting at the opposite end of Marks seat. Theodore couldn't understand why someone of his tribe was here, not to talk more of the fact that this person finds pride in telling people about his feats. This is what shocked him. Wall Workers have a thing for being told their feats and being praised for it. They like that. However, when you praise yourself, it doesn't stick and so you're considered a lunatic. The same could be said for Sir Gibraltar in Theodore's eyes as he stared on in disgust as words flew from this old man's mouth. Milana wasn't into the untold beliefs of the Wall Workers but she had a peeve for thus type of people. Not only do you indulge in self-praise, you're also blessed with the act of fast speech. Irritable as it is stupid but she looked on waiting, longing that he stops soon. Trix, who sat next To Mark, noticing what is transpiring decides to take matter into her own hands. She whispered to the hearing of none as she called out this name.
"Spectre, Spectre!"
On saying this, the make figure from before immediately appeared at her back and was visible once more. The same male that held the teeth of The giant as Trix held Marks' hands. Trix looked back and murmured once more.
"Make him sleep."
and so Spectre varnished. Few seconds after that, Gibraltar stopped spitting words as he leaned to his chair, face looking up to the roof, hands on the table and slept in that position.
Whilst all these happened, Mark watched Trix do what she did.
"What did you do?" He asked
"Oh, nothing. He was disruptive of order on the dinner table that's all. Now," she said, as she dropped her food and leaned towards him, placing her hands on his laps for support as she whispered into his ears.
"Let's go out of here. To a bed you and me. A nice suggestion yes?"
On hearing this,Mark looked at her ears that equally faced his mouth and whispered back.
"I'm not going with you. I'm busy."
As she heard this, she withdrew from him and sat properly and began laughing out loud this caught the attention of Milana, Aria and Theodore as the stopped looking at the passed out old man and focused on the opposite direction. Slowly, after getting herself a little bit, she spoke out.
"Ah, shy Mark. How funny of you. You never change do you?" Saying this, she looked at Mark with desire. Mark, who was still looking straight into the passed out old man. Curiosity getting the best of him, he asked.
"Trix, how long do you intend to keep the old man laying like this?"
"Oh Mark, it won't be long. Not as long as it took you to come back here." Trix' face changed from that of an erotic looking wife to that of a betrayed wife. She had intent behind that question and the others could feel it so the looked on as the drama was about to unfold.
"I'm not having this discussion with you." Mark said in his defense as he stood up with a decisive face. He was about to leave the room. He about walking past her before he stood at the back of her seat on hearing these words.
"Well, I don't think you'd want to now, right? I mean, you'd want to walk away from responsibility once more, right? Oh please do go. I'm not sure I'll be able to stop someone as strong as you, twice." Trix said, as she decided to look at Mark, who stood without moving. He wasn't looking at anyone in particular. He decided to reply her question.
"I'm not sure of how to go about this with you. Even if I told you, you would not understand and yes," on saying this, he turned to look at her seating down while facing her back looking at him. Their eyes met as he continued. " I left you without notice and I apologize not for my actions because the task placed on my back is bigger than you can ever fathom. I do not blame you though. You have no idea the battle I face. The least you can do is trust me and add no stress to my journey." On saying this, He looked away from her and walked slowly towards the door. Trix' face changed on hearing this. She didn't want Mark to leave the diner. Not now anyways. On reaching the door, standing close to the old man, he looked at him and said.
"You didn't let her know did you? All these years you hid it from her didn't you?"
Hearing this, the seemingly passed out old man woke up from his slumber as his face looking up came back down to normal position.
"I had a good reason for doing what I did and it worked all these time. She didn't go after you did she? She didn't die from Halo Attacks did she? I did what was necessary." Gibraltar said in his defense.
"I am certain that no matter what you say she'd still follow me. I wonder what you told her to make her stay here without coming after me. Well, I'd say thank you but you didn't relay my message so tell me. What did you tell her?" Mark said, still staring at the old man.
"I...."
"You what!" Mark asked in a high tone. On seeing the expressions on Gibraltar's face, He came to a conclusion.
"I see." Mark said, as he finally walked out of the room.
After Mark left, a long silence ensured. Even the sound of cutlery couldn't be heard at this time. The Nymphs, Milana, Mark, Aria, Theodore, Trix, Gibraltar and even The giant. All Silent. Trix was so fed up with what just happened. Her face couldn't hide it anymore and so she brought up the question in a low voice.
"What did he mean by you didn't tell me?"
No one could make out what she said but they had had her speak and although everyone looked towards her as she was the source of a new type of sound around the table, no one could understand what she meant and so they looked with curiosity as to what happened but no one responded. On seeing this, she repeated herself in an even louder tone.
"What did he mean when he said you didn't tell me, Gibraltar!!" On saying this, Trix' face changed to rage as she looked at the direction of Gibraltar. He didn't bulge but continued digging into his dish. He was obviously not in the mood to argue with any one at the moment.
"Sit. you're making food taste bad by bringing in this argument. We will talk right after this. for now, finish your meal."
Trix was fuming with rage as her face changed to red. her white cloths were almost engulfed in the red complexity of her face. She couldn't take it anymore and so stood up and followed Marks' route as she left the diner. Milana, Aria and Theodore looked at each other with the same look. None of them had any idea of what had transpired just now and they want to know, but from the situation being so heated up, none could utter a word and kept mute until Trix left. Aria just couldn't hold it she decided to question Gibraltar a little. She was cut short when Gibraltar asked her first.
"What do you want to know, little one?"
"How did you?" Aria asked as she was perplexed that he knew what she wanted to do. Ask questions.
"Oh you did tell me about your behavioral trait moments ago yes? It's quite easy that I would piece together certain factors don't you think?" Gibraltar replied, smiling this time.
"Oh," Aria continued. "I see." She felt embarrassed as this is the first time someone has not only asked her if she wanted to ask a question, but also told her bluntly that she asks a lot of questions. She was shy and timid enough already as it was but hearing this, she had no idea what to say as she had Ben found out already before doing what she wanted to do. Milana however, indirectly helped her out with her problems as she suggested the question.
"Gibraltar, how close are the two? They seemed really close with each other whereby the both agreed in companionship. What really happened. I hope it's not too much of a problem that I should ask though?"
"Oh, no worries. I would not hold it upon you when it is your curiosity that gets the best of you. Well, strap in, all of you. I'm about to tell you a story that will stay with you guys for a long time and if lucky passed down to the next generation. I'm old and have no idea as to the date of my expiration and therefore I decide to bring this to you guys before I pass away. I'll tell you everything you need to know and what is transpiring right now so strap on to your seats as I take you back in time to the moment it all started. Be sure to listen properly as I won't repeat my words twice."
On saying this, Theodore raised his hands in the air as in an attempt to request he asks a question.
"Yes, what is it, fellow Wall Worker?"
"Oh, it's nothing I just really wanted to know and before you start this story of yours, who is the chef of this entire building?" Theodore asked as his face Shone in mere delight.
"Well, why ever would you ask of me such questions, your name is?" Gibraltar asked in reply.
"Oh, yes I haven't given you my name. It's Theodore."
"Wait, Theodore. I can't believe this. My eyes must be deceiving me. Wait it might not be true please pardon me but answer this question. What name did your father bear?" Gibraltar asked, as his eyes bulged out on excitement. The whiteness of his sclera could be seen at this moment.
"Oh, it's Humphrey." Theodore replied.
"Humphrey, The Valiant?"
"Yes. The Valiant." Theodore replied.
"I can't believe this. This must be a lore put on me by the hands of fate. No I cannot believe this." Gibraltar said as tears began to flow down his wrinkled face and made wet his long bushy eyebrows. An all out sob had begun. The people around the round table couldn't understand what was happening at the moment but rather looked at each other in shock and excitement. What was happening?
"What do you mean by that, Sire?" Finally, the giant with a torn tongue lying out of his mouth as a result of Mark, finally spoke up as even he was left in shock.
"This Wall Worker right here. Fate has made it so for him to be my grandson. Theodore The Valiant." Tears flowed down Gibraltar's eyes as he uttered this words. No one in that room at the moment was left out of the shock that was evenly distributed around at that moment as everyone was struck in awe, mostly Theodore who had no idea how to feel at that moment. His feelings were left to rot in the presence of Amazement, Anxiety, Curiosity and many more rotting together in his emotions.
"My grandfather? Impossible!" These words spread around in his thoughts as he looked at the worn-out old man sitted at the seat closest to the door. A dominant thought had finally arrived his mind. Disbelief.
"I'm sorry." Gibraltar said, as he used a clean table cloth to clean up his tears. Theodore looked around at the awed faces of Milana and Aria looking at him with smiles. Theodore wasn't buying what had just transpired and so decided to change the topic or rather revert it it back to the initial.
"The chef," He said.
"Oh, yes. The chef. He's good isn't he?" Gibraltar said amidst tears.
"Yes he's really good. I cannot fathom the tastes I feel in my mouth. Unbelievable stuff." Theodore said, using his hands to make a reference to the dishes on the table trying to snub the fact that had just been placed outloud.
"Yes, he sure does know how to make his stuff. We have a lot to talk about but for now, I will attend to this girls" Gibraltar said, as he used his head to point at Milana
"questions now let's begin with the story of a lifetime. Wherever do I begin?" Gibraltar said, as he leaned in, looking around his eyes meeting Theodore's, Milana, Aria and eventually the giant.
"It all started....."
And so his story telling began.
