Mark immediately placed Milana well strapped on his back, Aria in his arms, he set off. He was covering the same distance Aria and her crew covered with three days in the space of four hours. He traveled so fast that his path changed the sand patterns on the desert. Before this, he treated Milana's wounds the best possible way he could. He didn't want to cry. Not in front of her though. He used so herbs instructed by Milana and patched her up a little. It wasn't much, but it stopped the bleeding for that slight moment. Mark didn't want to slow down the slightest. He had to save two people, and time was running out. He could recall what he was doing the last time he was around here. He came from a close city while hearing the news that a Flock of Halos had settled around the distance between The City Of Mer and Tenebrae. The little towns in between weren't spared by this, being wiped out as the Halos killed every human they could find. By the time Mark and Milana had gotten to one of the cities, there was nothing left there. He decided to camp in one of the houses still standing after all the damage done and that's where he left Milana to go out investigating the Halos. He knew Milana could easily outrun any Halo that came her way and left her in the house. He kept tracing the Halos until he came across a teenager That was taking a dump. He had no interest in her, and therefore started going towards the Oasis. He wondered why the funny Colleen followed him to do the same. Fascinated by this, he decided to follow her and so she began to run as fast as her little legs could carry her, until she stumbled across her friend. She turned back to check who was following her, but as she turned Mark hid. After that, he lost interest and started heading for the Oasis. he had to go around to avoid the lady teen noticing him. By the time he had gotten there, it was too late. He saw bodies littered everywhere. Blood staining the sandy floors as a girl sat in the floor helplessly staring into the eyes of the Halo. At this mere sight, Mark rushed in with his sword and cut the Halo into two equal halves. The little girl was saved. That little girl turned out to be Ariadne Luna.
"Who knew." he said in thoughts. "Who knew my mission would be hastened up so? Why does this entirety that is the universe burden me so? I have done my part, did all it ever asked for, doing even more than told and yet it seems like my efforts are null and void. If only. If only I could wipe out all these Halos from the surface of the earth. If only I could say a word and their existence be seized. Why do I have to be the one carrying this burden. I have been on this earth for the longest of times and I haven't the slightest idea my reason for being the chosen one. Why was I chosen in the first place? what seems so special about me? Oh, Fate. you seem not to disappoint when it comes to the torture of a single person. You seem to go out of your way to make life miserable for just one soul. Mother nature, do you know of this? Do you know what your sister, Lady Fate has put me up for? Why do I have to be the one that saves humanity? Who said that? Why pick me of all the immense population. Why pick me? If I had known better, I would have easily declined. I can no longer understand the term emotions. I have been tested and proved negative to free will. Weren't you the one that granted this out to all humans when you created them? What about The Creator. Is he watching? Is your husband watching, Mother Nature? at all the evil deeds being done. Does he look on as a single soul such as myself handles what could easily be the greatest burden placed on one man? I am tired and I have no reason to say otherwise. Which man can do what I did and still remain sane? Who? I highly doubt anyman would be able to do this. Now, I see! You've given me this treacherous task BECAUSE no man can accomplish it. I know a lot of strong people. Strong men that have achieved so much that I pale in comparison so why me? Are the from different eras? did you space them out in the stretches of time? if so, why would you do this? You can call forth all the powerhouses humanity has ever known and they would be at your beck and call. They would fulfill your every wish. Instead, you give this to one man. One man, alone to carry all this? To top it all off, the soul selected isn't even special in anyway. I wonder, what do you have in store for me? Oh, Mother Nature. What is my purpose in this long life of mine?" His thoughts ran rampant as he kept asking any supreme being out there to help him carry the burden on his shoulders. No one would blame him. He was carrying a task of being humanities' strongest cavalry against the Halos and there was nothing he could do about it. His Job on Earth was so valuable that just his service alone would easily cost more than a mountain filled with some of the rarest diamonds. He was so overworked that a normal human would slump from sheer fatique and wouldn't even have enough rest in the afterlife. His journey through the desert continued and long before he knew it, Tenebrae was visible on the far horizon. It would appear Exhaustion was clearly the reason his thoughts went berserk because as soon as he saw Tenebrae, his laments stopped and you could see a slight sense of relief in his eyes. However, his journey had only just begun and he still had a long way to go from here, or so we thought.
