He heard the erratic beating of her heart which matched his own. The sight of her going so close to the pit scared him. This has to be the first time in a very long time he has ever been this scared. The look on her face still looked as if she wanted to go back there made his hold on her stronger.
"Look at me Hazel," he said, trying to get her eyes on him rather than the pit. Whatever her attraction to it was, he had to find a way to break it. "You can't go there," he said again. She still looked in a daze.
"Your majesty," Sage called. She had been watching the human and she was still unable to tell just what she was, it was best to leave someone with such a strong connection to the darkness. Keep her away, as far as possible.
"Make sure there is no one else besides us present here," Arzaan said knowing would follow should any of the creatures of Sigurd see Hazel like this.
