As Davy carried me through Wylde village, we got stares from a lot of people. The stares oddly didn't seem to bother him, I guess being a cat makes you used to being stared at.
The most embarrassing encounter we had was with Blue. She was out making a supply run and spotted us. Her massive mischievous grin told me exactly what she was thinking. I was waiting for her to approach us so I could explain the situation to her, but she just stared at us until we were out of sight.
"We're here." Davy said as we arrived in front of my house. "Do you want help getting inside?"
"Yes please." I whispered to him. I was still embarrassed by all the stares we got.
I passed him my keys, and he awkwardly opened my door with me still on his back. When we got inside, he set me down on my sofa gently.
"Is there anything you want to grab or anything I can do?"
I didn't want Davy to leave, I still feel terrible about what I did to my hands, and having Davy around made me feel better about the whole situation. I wanted to tell him to stay, but it was super embarrassing to say out loud.
I took a deep breath and then tried saying it as quietly as possible knowing Davy had good hearing. "… Can you… stay over for the night…"
"Sorry, what you say?"
I said it a little louder this time. "… Do you want to… stay here tonight…"
"Hmmm?"
"DO you WANT to STAY HERE y-you, you IDIOT!" The final time I shouted at Davy making him quiver a little. "Sorry for shouting, but do you want to stay here? I can bring some blankets and pillows down and you sleep in your cat form. I'll treat you to some food, and we can watch something together."
He nodded with flustered cheeks "That sounds nice. I stay here."
There was an awkward silence between the both of us. He sat down next to me, and his stomach growled loudly which only made him more flustered.
"I don't think I can cook, but if you want, I can order us some food."
He nodded back still too embarrassed to say anything.
"What kind of food do you want? And no, we are not having tuna."
Davy took a minute to think before answering. "Spaghetti?"
"Really? That's a big leap away from tuna." I opened the website Coyle showed me on my phone and opened the food section. "Here is a list of all the different spaghetti they have got. Pick whichever you think looks the best, and we can get a large portion to share. In the meantime, I will find something for us to watch on Webflex."
I looked through Webflex and Davy looked through my phone. Davy eventually decided to go with the spaghetti with meatballs, and after I ordered it, he helped me choose what to watch.
I had watched most of the big hits on Webflex already. During the first few weeks, I was here I would spend days just sitting inside watching Webflex or playing with my brother online. So, I decided to go off what Davy wanted to watch.
I passed him the remote and he stopped on a very… 'Saucy' vampire tv series. It was rated 15, but the show included a lot of 'passionate' moments. I have only finished the first season because even alone it's kind of embarrassing to watch.
"Why do they have pointy teeth?" Davy asked looking at the show with fascination.
"They're vampires."
"Vampires?"
"Right, a cat wouldn't know what a vampire is. Vampires are supposedly people who survive by drinking people's blood. Sometimes they are undead immortals, and other times their pretty bad boys with very pale skin and a phobia of the sun. I used to think vampires were a thing of fiction, but now I honestly couldn't tell you."
"They sound cool let's watch it."
The idea of watching anything 'Saucy' with Davy made me want to hide my face with a pillow, but the way he looked at the show with innocence and pure fascination made it so I couldn't say no.
"Ok, we can watch it." I sighed trying to prepare my heart for the embarrassment.
Ding A notification popped up on my phone notifying me of the arrival of our food. Davy went outside to grab the bag of food that had teleported in front of my door.
When I came back, he was carrying different boxes and he set them down on the coffee table next to my sofa.
"There should be knives and forks in the draw next to the sink, and the plates are in the glass front cupboard, so you should be able to easily spot them." It took a few minutes to reach the point where we were both sitting on my sofa under my largest blanket with a plate of spaghetti each.
The lights were turned off, and it was already dark outside, so the only light was coming from my tv.
Davy was excited to dig into the food and watch the vampire tv series, but I had just come to a massive realisation. 'This is kind of like a date.'
Both me and Davy were sitting next to each sharing the same blanket, watching a very 'saucy' tv show on Webflex, and eating spaghetti together. The only way this could be more date-like was if we were eating the spaghetti from the same plate and we were cuddled up to each other.
'Is this a home date?' I wondered as I looked over at Davy. His eyes were fixed on the screen, and he didn't seem to be as bothered at all. 'I guess I was getting my hopes up to think anything romantic was going through his tuna brain.'
The first episode of the vampire show was about a young girl meeting a vampire guy in her school. It starts with the girl following the vampire because he is a suspicious guy, but by the end of the episode, she finds out he is a vampire because she sees him kill someone and drink their blood. It was pretty standard stuff.
The show did try to add some horror elements by having a few jump scares. I wasn't scared by any of them, but Davy nearly choked on his spaghetti multiple times. At the start of the episode, there was room for another person to sit between us. By the end, he was sitting as close as possible to me. I was also very flustered, but for different reasons from Davy.
I looked over at him to see him fully immersed in the show. Although the show was very cliche and wasn't my cup of tea, I couldn't help but enjoy it because of Davy's reactions. At the scary moments, his fingers would sink into my arm as he pulled me tighter, and when the spicier moments happened, he would make a cute sound and attempt to cover his eyes (he still left gaps in his fingers to watch). He also became enthralled with the characters, every time the cliche love rival appeared on the screen, the hissing would start.
At this point, I was having more fun watching Davy than my Tv, and I couldn't stop myself from staring. I could tell Davy has never watched something like this before, so this was an honest-to-goodness new experience for both Davy and me.
However, the atmosphere vanished with the ring of my phone. *Bzzz* *Bzzz* *Bzzz*
"Shit, it's my brother!" I muttered as I pulled the phone out of my pocket. My brother was trying to video-call me. "Could you press pause? I've got to take this call."
I pressed the answer button, and the faces of my brother and mother appeared on the screen. They seemed to be in the kitchen back home, and they both greeted me. "Hi, sis." "Hello, sweetie."
"Hello." I responded whilst trying to push Davy away. He kept trying to look at my phone, but I didn't want Mom and Kyle to know I had a guy at my house. They would definitely take it the wrong way.
"Sorry to bother you so late honey. We just wanted to check on you since you haven't called in three days." Mom seemed a little concerned when she spoke.
'Shit, I didn't ring them when I was at Lleu's house.' I mentally cursed myself for forgetting to ring them. "Sorry Mom, I was at a friend's house."
"There's no need to apologise, I'm just glad you're having fun. Who was this friend? Are they a guy?"
Mom was already bombarding me with questions, and I could tell what line of thought she had, so I decided to lie a little. "No mom, they were a girl. She invited me back to her place to play games."
Davy gave me a confused look, but I made a motion with my hand to dismiss him.
"That sounds nice. Are they a wolf like you, or were they another animal?"
"She was a sheep. Speaking of wolves-"
I was about to ask mom about any other wolves, but she cut me off before I could finish asking. "A Sheep! Did you eat her?!"
"No! Of course, not mom!" Mom seemed genuinely worried, so I didn't attempt to make a joke. "I didn't eat hi- her. I'm not some wild animal."
"Oh, thank goodness." The worry left Mom's face, and I could hear Kyle laughing in the background.
"Anyways, did Dad ever tell you about other wolves? Because apparently, we are a nearly extinct species."
"Really? Your Dad never mentioned it. The only wolves he would talk about were his brother and sister… Who's that?"
I quickly turned around to see Davy looking over my shoulder. "DAVY, You Idiot!!!"
"Oh my." Mom said with a smirch on her face.
"You already have a boyfriend, sis?" Kyle asked whilst chuckling
Davy leapt back after my shout, and I quickly ended the call.
"I'm s-sorry. Please don't shout." Davy had entered a bowing position and had started apologising profusely.
"No, I'm sorry. I should have told you not to stand behind me before I answered a call, and I shouldn't have shouted at you. I'm sorry."
Davy was still crying, and his body shrank as he turned into a cat. My phone started ringing again, but I decided to ignore it to cheer him up. I scooped him up in my arms and sat back on the sofa.
I started trying to pet him like I would a regular cat, and it seemed to work. He stopped whimpering and shaking and started to look more comfortable, but his eyes were still a little watery.
When I answered the call, the first thing was Kyle shouting. "Who's your boyfriend?"
I let out a sigh and calmed myself by scratching Davy's ears which he seemed to like. "He's not my boyfriend he's just a regular friend. The reason he is at my house is that I badly hurt myself today, and he helped me get home. I didn't want to tell you because I knew how you would react."
"Did you get in another fight?" Mom asked with her usually concerned look.
"No… Well yes, I did, but it was an instructor."
"Oh my God, you got into a fight with a teacher?!"
"Yes, but not how you're thinking. It was part of a lesson, and the injuries were mostly what I did to myself."
"Kitty?" Kyle had noticed Davy, who had climbed up my lap to see the phone.
I didn't want to shout at Davy again, so I just accepted that my family would now know about him. "This is Davy. He is a cat hybrid, so he can turn into a cat. He is also the friend who helped me come home."
Both Kyle and Mom had wide eyes when they looked at Davy. " "Cute" " they said in unison.
"Can he turn back into a human so he can talk to us?" Mom asked whilst looking at Davy.
I was about to refuse because I didn't think Davy would be comfortable talking, but he leapt from my lap and landed next to me as a human again.
"H-hello, miss Kate's mom." He said nervously.
"Oh, there's no need to be so formal call me Karol, sweetie."
Mom and Kyle talked with Davy until my phone nearly ran out of battery, and by the time Davy finished on the phone, he looked mentally exhausted.
"Should we go back to watching?" I asked after he passed me my phone back.
