Chapter 10 - Did I Scare You Again?

All of a sudden, the demonic beast charged out of the white mist.

Wen Ran dodged it by instinct. As she dragged her heavy body out of there to run for her life, she did not hesitate to use the life-saving magic treasures that the old man had given her.

She was not yet skilled enough. Teleporting one person using one formation was already extremely difficult for her, let alone two people! She was already so exhausted that she would not have been able to last a minute if she did not have those treasures with her.

The demonic beast behind her did not stop chasing, but Wen Ran was afraid to turn her head around and look. Deep down, she began cursing that darned Shen Wu and could not help herself from but she could not help herself from forming the most malicious preconceived notion about that heartless person.

She wondered if he lured her there on purpose so he could take her life.

As soon as that thought popped up in her mind, Wen Ran saw Shen Wu and discovered that she must have had it all wrong.

The young man that appeared before her was dressed in blood-stained white robes. He had one hand on the tree and lowered his head slightly, and his thin body seemed even weaker than ever before. His pale complexion was also stained with blood, and it was absolutely frightening to see so many scars on him.

There really was no reason for him to make himself look like that if he wanted to harm her, so could he really have gone there to catch a devil pet for her?

The forest was actually quite huge, so it was almost certainly fate that led Wen Ran to meet Shen Wu even as she was running away in a panic.

Shen Wu heard the movement and raised his head to look at who had arrived. When he saw that it was the once dainty damsel who had since looked so miserable, he curled the corners of his lips slowly and said, "Wen—"

Before he could finish greeting her, Wen Ran came up to him and pushed him behind a tree.

"I owe you, Shen Wu! Stay here and don't come out!" Wen Ran stomped her feet and ran off in another direction.

The demonic beast that had been angered by her also made a turn and followed right behind her.

As she walked out from behind the tree, Shen Wu slightly tilted his head with a slightly dazed expression.

Wen Ran felt really touched by her actions, almost as if he was excluding a saintly halo all over the earth. Before that moment, she did not even know that she could sacrifice herself for someone else, and it was such a pity that she had to be the vicious supporting actress for that plot!

A gust of cold wind appeared behind her head. Wen Ran dodged to the side, but an ancient tree beside her had already been snapped in half by a sharp claw. Her entire body was cold, and she fell to the ground from the force of the wind. When she looked at the demonic beast that was charging towards her, she raised her hand by instinct to protect her head.

All of a sudden, she heard the clanging sound of a blade.

The person who appeared in front of her was holding a long sword and was easily able to block the attack from the demonic beast's sharp claws.

His nonchalant attitude seemed to have infuriated the demonic beast even more, and it revealed its terrifying fangs with a roar.

All of a sudden, countless sword formations appeared in the air and trapped the demonic wolf like an inescapable net. It had nowhere to escape, and in the time it took to take one breath, blood was already starting to drip. Its flesh and blood were removed alive, leaving only a skeleton that slowly fell into the pile of minced meat on the ground.

Still, a drop of blood accidentally fell on his fair face.

The nauseating smell of blood began to spread.

He turned around in the dark environment with a strange and indecipherable expression on his face. However, he still asked with concern, "Are you alright?"

Wen Ran felt that something was not right and resisted the urge to vomit. "Aren't you supposed to be injured?"

Shen Wu seemed puzzled at her question. After a while, he looked at the blood stains on his body and chuckled lightly as if he had come to a realization. "I was too excited from killing all the demons and dirtied my clothes by accident."

"Something wrong? Did I scare you again?" he blinked innocently.

His black eyes were limpid and his smile was oozing with innocence. The few drops of blood on his face resembled a beautiful flower blooming in the snow.

There was something so strangely beautiful about it.
