Chapter 20 - Chapter Twenty : Plan

Jeff didn't know how the news spread so fast, but he was determined to save Jane, cause he knew she will be in deep trouble if the high authorities cut her.

Even though, she was the victim in the picture.

The senator's family in abroad heard of the matter and came to Nigeria to deal with the killer.

Florence Nelson, the late Mr. Nelson's wife, was deeply grief striken.

She badly wanted to take revenge for her late husband, so when she got to the mansion and interrogated everybody by force, thus leaving Jeff with no other than to voice out what really happened.

Florence was disappointed in Ebuka, but still she can't let Jane off like that.

To her, Jane deserved to be punished and killed too, for killing someone. And not just anyone but her husband, who was the Senate president.

"She still need to be punished and killed. What she did can not be overseen."

Florence uttered calmly and crossed her legs together. She was ready to avenge her husband's death, even if it means breaking the law, she doesn't care!

Jeff's face fell but he sighed, already saw this coming.

He should have known better who Florence was, a woman with no remorse.

If Ebuka is a demon, then Florence is a devil. She once eliminated three royal families, when they tried to obstruct her late husband's plan on demolishing an ancestral hall in a particular state. She is nothing, but a depraved woman!

Jane was unaware of all these, and she didn't care. To her, Ebuka was nothing, but a beast who deserved more than death.

She felt no remorse for killing him, and if she was given a chance again, she will gladly torture and kill him all over again.

"A rapist is an emotional killer!" She thought, and believed he had already killed her, when he raped her.

So, it was a tit for a tat.

In the Thomas couple mansion**

Emmanuel was sipping a hot coffee in the lounge with a grim expression sitting on his face.

He was bewildered, but didn't know if he should be happy or the opposite.

"Will all my plans now go to drain? I wanted him to witness my own success too.

"As such will be a slap to Ebuka's face, but what will happen now that he is dead?"

Emmanuel ought to be happy, but what he felt was something he couldn't comprehend. He wanted to be more wealthier and powerful than the late Ebuka. But since Ebuka was already dead, he wasn't sure of how to fulfil his plans anymore.

The main cause of his plans was no longer alive.

The sudden urge and push to get a high position in the country was depleted.

Debby walked in slowly and sighed seeing her husband deep in his thoughts.

" Er..m." She cleared her throat to made her presence known and to gain his attention.

"Ohhh, Debby you are here."

Emmanuel turned around and looked up at her.

He was surprised to see her in the lounge, cause she was supposed to have dinner with her childhood friends, but it seems that was not the case.

Debby knew what her husband was thinking, so she immediately voiced out,

" I know am supposed to have dinner with my childhood friends but at the same time I can't let you be alone.

"I know Ebuka's death will confuse you a bit and possibly disorient you, so that's why am here."

She felt some sympathy for her husband, thus she cancelled her dinner plan and decided to stay with her husband. She had to be there when he needed her the most and comfort him.

" To be honest, I didn't expect this, and am really touched."

He smiled and moved to embraced her tightly.

The scene was moving.

Debby robbed his back, and whispered, " We are a couple, so this shouldn't surprise you okay. Even though am mean and somehow, I still have this tinge of compassion in me please."

She rolled her eyes and pinched her husband a bit.

She knew she was cruel and corrupt but that didn't took all her compassion away.

Emmanuel chuckled at his wife's words and gave her a gentle stare filled with gratitude.

"Now, my mind is at peace."

He paused and continued, " You should probably do this all the time. Who knows......I might love you more than this dear. "

He moved back and winked at her.

He knew she might sneer at him, or utter any sarcastic words.

"Oh please! As if this is my first time of doing that....your words are wacky. "

She moved closer to him again and continued her response,

"Like you have love me since all these times."

She crossed her hands over her chest and smiled smugly.

"Oh Debby! Debby!" Emmanuel exclaimed and shook his head.

Only he knew how daunting Debby can be sometimes.

"So, what are you going to do now since Ebuka is dead?" She questioned her husband.

Emmanuel, who has almost forgotten about how confused he was earlier because of Debby sudden caring words, immediately became mute.

After some seconds, he replied her back faintly,

" I don't know sincerely. Maybe, I should just give up and focus on the contract I guess."

His enthusiasm to pursue success was gone, and it seems to weaken him. His main focus right now was the contract, coupled with the benefits associated with it.

Debby stared disapprovingly at her husband and slapped him.

"I am really disappointed in you! How could you think like that? Have you forgotten who you are?.... Let me remind you in case you have forgotten.

"You are Emmanuel Thomas, one of the representatives of Abuja in the lower house. You are the king of your own world, and why should you let someone's death take a toll on you?!

"I still expect you to still continue your plans of getting a high position in the country and more wealth, so why all these hun?

"With or without him, you must continue your plan and get to that big position, do you get it?!"

She bursted out at once not giving her husband a chance to jump in, and she exhaled afterward.

She felt good after her loud outburst!

The perplexed Emmanuel totally didn't see that coming and was rendered more speechless.

"I....I.,,,,,a..m." He sighed and gave in to his wife.

Truthfully, he was amused and grateful for having a wife like Debby. When he is weak, she will be his strong pillar, and when she is weak, he will be her strong pillar.

Debby held his left arm and whispered, " Don't give up."

"I won't! I promise." Then, he stood up and muttered,

" Thank you."

He was really happy and grateful to Debby for reminding him what he was supposed to do. And been there for him when he needed someone, thus he promised her not to give up. He was ready to fulfil his plans and achieve his goals now.
