On a rooftop sat Ben, who has been bathing in the sun for the last twenty five hours. When he was done, he had about fifty megawatts loaded into the railgun and enough charge to keep his body running for three days even if he was moving for seventy two hours straight.
"All right, fully charged on both railgun and battery life. Now then let's go scout out this hideout, rescue this surgeon and get my pay!" Ben shot his fist into the sky stretching his body, even though doesn't need to, and jumped off the four hundred and twenty foot drop into a closed alley.
….
He ran straight to the hideout, not stopping for anything. When he arrived, the thing that appeared was a tan brick building on the outskirts of the city.
"Let's see two people out front. One person covering the rooftop and a group of four in the open garage, all with minimal cyberware implants. That covers seven out of the twenty one, the only thing to worry about is this unknown variable that Miss Ann warned me about."
With the reconnaissance done, Ben made his way to the rooftop, frying the lookout's circuitry and making his way down the ventilation shaft, inside the building. Once in he hacked into the cameras and found the missing fourteen gang members wandering about in the building.
Six of them were in a breakroom playing poker, another four were in the computer room, and the last four were stuck to operating tables being operated on by the objective, Carol Othello. "Damn! They get free healthcare and big guns! Lucky them!"
Then Ben, from the perspective of the camera, hacked into the automated turret on one of the trucks in the garage, killing all four of the unsuspecting goons and causing ruckus throughout the building. This act alone pulled all of the goons to the garage to deal with the triple barrel .50 caliber turret except, two in the computer room, and the four on the operating tables.
"I have about five minutes give or take before those two net-divers from the computer room kill my program." Ben jumped down from the ventilation shaft into the computer room and jacked into the computer uploading the malware he created during his charge time on the rooftop.
Once done, a window popped up on the screen with the word 'oof' being displayed. The windows kept multiplying, first by the hundreds then thousands, eventually it got to the millions. Millions of tabs open with the words 'oof' across the screen, which inevitably broke the computer.
"Now no more direct camera feed!" Then he ran to the operating room, all of this took a minute and thirty seconds. Ben ran out of the computer room into the operating room. Inside was a sweating woman who had her back turned stitching together the abdomen she opened previously.
"Carol Othello. I have come to break you out of this place, let's go, make it snappy! We don't have much time." Carol merely looked at Ben suspiciously.
"How can I believe you? For all I know you could be a member of another gang here to poach me. Give me proo-" Ben quickly pulled out his hand cannon, silencing Carol.
"Listen here lady! We have three minutes before those Flying Dragon bastards deal with the distraction I caused and come back here guns drawn, ready for a fight. Do you think me and you can fight off at least seventeen people? No? I didn't think so! So get your ass out here and follow me!"
Carol, under gunpoint, followed Ben out of the building's back door. Just as they were about to reach it, an explosion that shook the building, caused Carol to trip thanks to all the shaking.
Before she could get up, the backdoor they were about to reach flew off its hinges right into Ben! When Ben threw the door off him, what he saw was a hulking mass of man armed to the teeth with cyberware implants!
Ben immediately fired off his gun at the hulk of a man. The man's left arm split into a shield, protecting his head and chest, before he bulldozed his way down the hallway. Ben wrapped his arm around Carol's waist and jumped to the left into the breakroom just as they were about to collide with the monster.
The momentum caused the monster to skid past the room, giving time for Ben. "Carol hide in the cabinet and under no circumstance come out unless I ask you to, do you understand?"
Carol rapidly nodded. When she was safely hidden away, Ben reloaded and aimed his hand cannon at the empty hallway. The footsteps of the monster shook the foundation, and caused Ben to get nervous. The monster's hand grasped the doorway crushing, when he peered into the room his red eyes peered into the room.
"Where is Carol Othello? Tell me and I will spare you."
"Bro, I would, believe me, but you see this job is supposed to build my cred with my client, soo~" Ben shrugged his shoulders. "I can't really give her to you, sorry, not sorry."
"Then I hope you are ready to face the consequences, boy!" Then the monster charged at Ben shooting out his heavy fist!
Ben ducked under it and got a few shots off at the monster's chest before diving to the side to avoid the massive trunk of a leg barreling toward him. When the leg landed on the table they were in front of, the metal table was literally torn asunder by the force, splintering its remains around the room.
"Damn! What kind of setup do you have?!" The monster's right arm split this time revealing an automatic micro-missile launcher.
"Holy! You have a fucking sidewinder you mother-" The monster let off tens of 20mm micro-missiles, shredding the room apart. Ben vaulted over the counter, covering himself from the onslaught of micro-missiles. Once he found cover the chaos stopped and when Ben shot up from out of cover, the monster was upon him!
The monster slapped the gun out of Ben's hands and punched Ben in the chest, launching him against the wall and scrambling his robotic circuits. Once the monster got close to finishing off Ben, both of Ben's fists shot out, burrowing themselves into the forearms of the monster thanks to the stinger blade.
With the micro-missile launcher and the essential parts to the shield destroyed, Ben rolled through the monster's legs gaining distance and readying his railgun while doing so. When the monster turned toward Ben, Ben had already rolled up his sleeve and had the railgun loaded and aimed.
"Bye bye bastard!" All the monster saw was a blinding light before he instinctively leaned to the right. Still the bullet tore through the right side of his body completely obliterating it and soaking the wall behind in blood, you could even see a bit of the cyberware lungs the monster had implanted.
When the dust cleared, the monster was down, still disoriented from the shockwave of impact of the bullet. Ben, who was sitting on the counter from the recoil of the railgun, knocked on the cabinet under him. "Alright you can come out now Carol."
Carol appeared shocked at the destruction that happened in the room and looked for Ben in the ruckus. What she found was Ben with a smoking arm and tears all over his jacket that showed his torn apart metal frame that came from the monster's fist.
Carol walked up to the monster. "Uhm I don't think that's a good ide- and she's doing it anyway...." Ben sighed and fell off the counter waddling his way over to the duo.
"Why are you here Sam Carver? Are you here to kill me? A job from an opposing doctor perhaps?"
Sam glanced up at her. "I was here to escort you back to your husband's family, they're the ones who called in." Sam stated calmly.
"Wait a minute! Carol's family are the ones who called it in....weren't they?" Ben asked, confused.
"I can see you are pretty inexperienced, but that short of it is that the Othello family decided to take it upon themselves to save Mrs. Carol. Though I can see you were prepared for an unknown variable, such as myself, seeing as to how calmly you reacted to me." Sam nodded to himself.
Ben merely gaped at him. "Prepared? Dude I was prepared for some extra goons not a five tone cyborg!"
"I'm only two tons-"
"Doesn't matter! Fuck, the second you barreled through those doors I knew I was in for a rough time...." Ben shook his head at the incongruity of it all, a small metal robot versus a giant metal cyborg. It made Ben think of David and Goliath, good thing he was David.
Ben raised his hand cannon, ready to end Sam's life. "Well I'm not gonna leave any loose ends behind so-" Ben was cut off by his phone. He glanced at the caller before looking back at Sam asking.
"You got rid of all of the Flying Dragons, right?" Sam nodded and Ben made sure to cripple Sam with malware in case he acted out, then answered the call.
[Ben!]
[Yes, Miss Ann?]
[Don't kill Sam Carver!]
Ben sighed. What he thought was right. He looked up and glanced at the cameras that were in fact staring right at the trio.
[Can you at least give me a reason? I mean if I don't kill him now, he might come after me later.]
[Don't worry about that. He wouldn't dare after we're done with him.]
[Fine! But I want some more pay and my malware stays on Sam Carver!]
Annabel easily agreed to the terms.
[Ok, consider it done. Meet me back at Camelot, I have a proposition for you.]
Ben sighed. "I just finished one job and you're already sending me into another....damnit..."
Ben looked back at Sam. "No hard feelings right?"
Sam nodded, surprising Ben. "It's just business." Sam stated calmly.
"So you don't care that I almost just killed? Wow, ok." Ben looked back at Carol. "Let's go, I still have to drop you off at the rendezvous.
Then the duo left Sam, and Ben reunited Carol with her family. As he limped towards Camelot, Ben assessed his injuries made in his fight with Sam. "My chest cavity is torn, some of the circuits are irreparable and need to be replaced, just this alone will drain my wallet heavily, maaan!"
