Mako hadn't displayed his resonated ability to anyone in the school yet as he wanted to keep a secret trump card up his sleeve at all times.
However, in such a dire and important time, Mako believed it was time to go all out as he activated his Energy Manipulation ability and gathered a small charge in his hands that he blasted right into the right side of Alexi's abdomen, dealing some real damage.
The blast wasn't very powerful as Mako was only able to charge it for a couple of seconds, but since Alexi wasn't expecting such an attack and had left himself wide open with no protection whatsoever, the damage done by the blast was still able to deal enough damage to make him stagger and limp over as he tried to quickly recover.
