Sandra went around, checking to make sure there were no survivor and any she found, still groaning, and not yet dead, she ended their mystery by putting a bullet in their head. Just then, the second in command, a man of average height finally appeared from the bush. When he saw the vehicles filled with holes and blood dripping out from under them, he heaved a sigh of despair and said in great disappointment:
"What have you all done?!"
"Lets get off this road, i will take the blame" Sandra said in a remorseless tone and the armed men began to lead the captives out of the road, loaded them into a truck and started into a jungle. When they had driven far, they stopped in the middle of no where, ordered the captives to get down and continued the rest of the journey on foot, with the armed men surrounding them while one of them led the way.
Three hours later, Mikel, the ring leader of the kidnapping group came out of his hut and walked to the path when he heard sound of approaching foots. He was dressed in a black vest tucked into camouflage pants and black boots to go with. He was tall, looks fit and almost intimidating with almost bloodshot eyes. but all his roguish look didn't mask that he was good looking and had a calm demeanor.
He ran a group of seven men and a woman and has been in the kidnappings business for years that he had almost forgotten how to live a normal life. He waited at the side and observed the new captives that were brought into the camp. They all had their heads down after being made deliberately to walk around the forest for almost three hours in order to exhaust and confused them in case they tried to remember the main path that led to the camp after release or attempting to escape.
As the hostages walked pass him, only one person, a lady, raised her head and locked cases with him, flouting his men's order to keep their heads down. Although, she had tried to maintain a firm and undaunted composure, the fear in her eyes exposed the facade.
immediately their eyes had locked briefly before she had lowered her gaze again, he felt a sudden flush of heat within him which he had not experienced before neither could her explain it but he tried to ignore and suppress it.
And as she passed by, he watched her walk past him and for a moment, their cases locked again briefly but not as direct as before and it had broken when Sandra who was following beside her suddenly gave her a rough shove ahead, Chiding her for being too sluggish and calling her all sorts of names. When Mike shot gazes with Sandra, she shot him an unfriendly look and continued walking away.
"How many are they?" Mikel finally spoke, asking his right-armed man, Ahmad as he approach from the rear of the group, gun in his arms.
"Two buses and one Sharon" Ahmad answered. "We selected sixteen people whose looks suggested that they are from good homes"
"What happened to the others?" Mike asked.
"Bosco and others opened fire on them before i got there" Ahmad said, with a helpless sigh.
"What?!, on whose order" Mike snapped.
"I don't know but he said Sandra ordered him to it because the others who were in the Sharon with her already know her face and could give the police hints"
"What did i say?! I said no killing! Its as simple as that! Why the fuck did they broke that ultimate rule?!" He asked, clearly mortified.
"Chill boss, it's Sandra not me" Ahmad said. "You have to talk it out with her".
"Sandra!" Mikel suddenly yelled, turning his head towards the direction Sandra had taken. "Sandra!".
"What?!" She snapped. "What is it? Why are you calling my name like that?!"
"The the give Bosco and others order to shot the other travelers?"
She averted her gaze in a disrespectful way and said nothing.
Mikel took intimidating steps towards her. "I asked you a question, Damn it!"
"I did" she said curtly "we Can't take any chances!! What if they end up leading police to us".
"Did you forget the number one rule? No one dies! We are just doing this for the money, Nothing else!" Mike hissed closely. "All you could have done is taking them all hostage instead of murdering them! Those were peoples relative and loved ones for God's sake! Have you no conscience?"
"And how do you think any one would take us serious if there aren't casualties, Mikel?" Sandra retorted. "How do you think we are ever going to make money out of this business if we don't put fear out there to show those who call our bluff that we are actually ruthless?! The police would come after us, thinking we are soft"
"I don't care what you think Sandra! you could have used another alternative instead of wasting the life of more than twenty people, those people has families, you know?!, has that ever crossed your mind for once?" Mike said.
"Yeah, and so do these ones we also kidnapped! The only difference is that the wasted ones are actually worthless and the last thing we need in our camp are liabilities. Liability means that much people to watch over and feed and in return, we get nothing! We had enough liabilities already and adding to it is so not a good idea right now!" She stated then said in a lower tone. "Mikel, you have to understand that this is a ruthless game and one has gotta do what one gotta do! We might have successfully established our selves deep within this jungle to carry out all operations so far, it had been nothing but safe, and that's why its left to live no trail behind. We are wanted out there.
