MAEVE
My body felt as though I had been hit by a truck, and my head was pounding. I opened my eyes and took in my surroundings, the room was dark. The lights were off, and the curtains were closed. I could barely make out the shadows of the room but knew I was somewhere unfamiliar.
I was laying on a large bed with velvet sheets caressing my skin. I lifted my head and saw movement in the shadows out of the corner of my eye.
"Hello? Is someone there?" I called out.
I didn't like this I didn't feel safe.
The lights turned on and I saw a man stood in the corner of the room, with a sombre look on his face. He was a relatively tall man, about 6 foot 5 if I had to guess. Tall by human standards, but not particularly amongst werewolf men. He had sandy blond hair. With strands falling down, that sat just above his eyebrows and cool blue eyes.
He looked a bit older than me but still handsome, as all werewolves were to the human eye.
"My sweet girl, I am so glad you're ok." He coed.
I jumped off the bed and backed myself into the corner of the room trying to figure out an exit plan as he made his way over to me.
"Who are you? Why am I here?" I responded.
He came closer and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. I recoiled at his touch. I didn't like this strange man touching me.
"Oh, my poor petal, you have no idea what happened do you? Of course you don't." He may as well have been talking in riddles at this point.
He sat on the bed and put his head in his hands as he continued to speak.
"I barely managed to get you out of that place alive."
I looked at him confused and pressed for more information.
"What is this place? You haven't answered my questions. Who are you and why am I here?"
He looked up and me and sighed.
"I am Alpha Carson dear. Before I begin to tell you what happened, I just want to let you know, I am so sorry for the way things have panned out and I want you to know you're safe here with me. He can't get you here." He was making no sense!
I still had no clue what was going on, and I was getting frustrated.
"Who can't get me? What on earth are you talking about?" I pressed on with my questions.
He patted the space next to him at the edge of the bed. "Sit down sweetheart and I will tell you everything." He replied, still not answering any of the questions I had thrown his way.
I did not particularly want to sit next to this stranger, but I had a feeling it was the only way he would tell me whatever it is that I apparently needed to know.
I sighed and gingerly sat down next to him, not wanting to get too close.
"Well, my sweetheart, today was your summoning ceremony. The other alphas and I arrived a little late but all of us still wanted to be there to support you. Well, I thought we all did anyway." He looked away, stopping his explanation. Like he couldn't think of what to say next, or maybe how to say it.
"You seemed to have had quite a rough time in the spirit realm sweetheart." My skin crawled as he kept calling me sweetheart. Who even was this Alpha!
"When we reached the clearing you were still gone, and we were all getting worried about you. Then there was a brilliant flash of white light and you appeared. Lying on the floor unconscious in your wolf form. You're a white wolf sweetheart. We think you may be THE white wolf as there has only ever been one recorded in history."
It was beginning to come back to my slowly. I remember a white wolf standing in front of me in the spirit lands. I think she said her name was Freyja.
The unknown Alpha resumed speaking. "Well, it all went downhill from there unfortunately petal. There has not been a sighting of a white wolf since the beginning of time, and it turns out one of the Alphas was waiting for this moment. Out of nowhere there were warriors everywhere. They had surrounded your pack in the clearing and were slaughtering men, women and children everywhere I looked."
He placed his head back in his hands as I looked at him in horror.
"My pack? They were slaughtered?" I could barely get my words out.
Those pack members were my friends. My family! "What happened to my mum and papa?" My voice pleading with my questioning. I needed to know they were safe!
"I'm so sorry sweetheart but the Alpha killed them. He killed them right in front of me whilst I was shielding your body from his attacks. He was in a blind fit of rage order his pack warriors to kill everyone in the clearing. He kept shouting about how he was going to destroy you, before you got a chance to fulfil the prophecy."
What on earth was this man talking about!? What prophecy!?
I sat there mouth gapped open with tears streaming down my face.
"My parents... they're dead?" I stumbled over the words as they left my mouth.
I couldn't believe it, I wouldn't!
"I tried to do all that I could petal, but the only thing I could think to do was to pick you up and run. Run as far and as fast as I could, to get you to the safety of my pack. I couldn't do anything for rest of them. It was too late, and I was one alpha against a whole army. I just knew I had to get you to safety my sweet." He grabbed my hand in his as he finished speaking.
I was too stunned and horrified at what I was hearing to pull away.
Tear were now flowing down my cheeks uncontrollably.
I needed answers. I hesitantly asked my next question.
"Who? Who did this? Who could do such a thing to my parents and my pack?"
He brushed a tear from my cheek and held my chin in his hand bringing my eyes to his level.
"It was alpha Bain. Alpha Bain killed your parents and your pack for his own selfish greed. He was scared you would bring ruin to him and his back so he tried to kill us all so no one could bare witness to his ruthless massacre." He responded.
I had heard of alpha Bain before, he was known as a merciless Alpha who terrified many. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It was like someone had taken my whole prefect life and existence right from underneath me. My sobbing and tears had become hard to manage. I was struggling to breath with the information I had been hit with.
I felt alpha Carson bring me into a hug and I rested my face against his chest. I needed someone to comfort me right now. I needed someone to be strong for me, because I wasn't strong enough to deal with this alone.
"Don't worry petal I am here for you. I will always be here for you. No one will ever hurt you whilst you are inside these walls." He soothed.
