"You don't actually think that just three Ghost Ships could annihilate the Church Fleet in the outside world, do you?"
What is false may seem true, and what is true may appear false.
Even if it was Hudson himself leading the battle, he also needed to guide everyone's thoughts into a ditch.
It didn't matter if they were wrong; it was all speculation anyway. It just so happened to prove that the attack on the Church Fleet had nothing to do with Master Hudson.
Although the fleet was ostensibly their own, Hudson could not guarantee that all the officers and soldiers were loyal to the Kingdom and had not been bought by the Clergy.
As long as the army returned home, it was expected that everything that had happened along the way would become known to the Clergy.
Leaking the news of a downfall was inconsequential. Whether there was evidence or not, the Clergy could guess it.
Given the relationship between the two sides, it would be a real problem if the Kingdom didn't play dirty.
