Her father, Don, had been an Investigator his whole life, battling against evil Transcendents and suppressing wild Mysterious Objects. But mortals are ultimately fragile, and over time, many of Don's teammates fell in the line of duty, with the rest disabled and retired.
This made Don extremely eager for Supernatural Power, believing that only by ascending to Transcendent could he better maintain the Empire's stability.
At that time, Don's superior, in recognition of his years of dedicated service and fearless combat, gave him a chance to become a Transcendent.
It was a Mystical Agent developed by the Supernatural Workshop, containing the traits of a Transcendent. Unlike Supernatural Knowledge, it didn't require personal insight; one only had to drink it to have a certain chance of advancing to Sequence Nine.
