"Was it contaminated by some mysterious substance... Could that 'descendant' octopus monster possibly be the so-called 'guardian pet'?"
The more Chen Lun thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
Objects contaminated by mysterious substances always take on a form that is extremely unsettling, and perhaps the "Forgetfulness Spring" had indeed become corrupted and decayed because of this. The octopus monster, too, had ultimately become a terrifying sight.
Chen Lun then picked up the small bottle and the piece of parchment.
