"Siege?! Have they lost their minds?"
Lynx setting themselves up for siege was an unexpected move, one which gave both sides equally big problems.
Asphodel had no resources in the meantime, setting up and waiting for the other side to starve or break was something which was not possible for the Asphodel forces.
Lynx on the other had settled siege meaning they had cut off from their outside resources and pushed themselves to a corner. Their act could be taken as a final resort against the problems.
"They are up for a Siege battle? This is the best chance we had since the first attack."
Yuuka ignored the downsides and focused on the positive side of the enemy's policy of being defensive.
"We can call back many troops, for now, get as many soldiers. We can get them to ports to bring in more resources and send back messages. We were cut off from the Asphodel. Now's our chance."
The idea of going back and getting back more forces and supplies was only able for the period they chose not to attack.
"Are we sure they have laid setting themselves for a siege?"
Vincent was still not sure about the exact details so he asked for a more detailed explanation.
"The horsemen, we had sent behind the retreating army. They surely saw the soldier and people rushing to gather inside the capital. The cities forts are now hyperactive, bowmen and archers covering each side."
"Means all the nearby cities have gathered inside a small place."
"The capital isn't a small place, last time we entered the capital we only the prison area, the whole capital side was just an area for prisoners."
"I see, I had my doubts about my memory getting weak. I didn't remember being so small and prison being directly joined to the city."
Yuuka had seen the capital once, but he remembered, it being a marvellous place. Celebration of the victory of the rebels was held there, and Yuuka enjoyed it but things soon fell apart and the country was in its current state.
"We need to go back and get ourselves as much as we can, winning the port should be our priority for now."
"But Sir the ports were left in the British control. Surely the information about their captain's death has reached them. We have no idea about what is the current situation at the port area, it far too risky to send a whole squad without any investigation."
Vincent brought up some important points about the conditions the port was in, any reckless action could cost them heavily.
"I understand but we are also in a race against time. We need to end this quickly, call the coordinator Thea Jane, I need her to do this."
"Yes, sir."
Soon enough Yuuka was visited by a young lady with white hair, and violet eyes in a military dress. Excited for her direct order from the commander.
"Sir!"
"Miss Thea Jane, I have heard good things about you and your regiment's speed and coordination. Considering your work and skills I am allowing you as the chief on this mission."
Jane had a smile on her face, she was a hardworking and confident person but her dream of commanding a proper mission was a chief bright a different sort of excitement in her heart.
"I'll be more than happy to take this mission whatever it is and will succeed in my act."
"I like your confidence but we need patience and speed both in this mission, so keep your calm and listen to the details first."
Yuuka's small rebuttal removed the smile on Jane's face as she realised that, in her overflowing excitement, she had forgotten all self-control and discipline.
"I'm sorry, Sir."
"Good, please do not forget that we are soldiers on the battlefield."
Jane gave a small nod while Yuuka began the briefing of the mission.
"You and your regiment of 20 soldier maximum will return to the port and analyse the whole port situation and act accordingly to it. We need you and your regiment to take back the port on your own if it is taken over by my enemy forces. You will also need to give up 1 member to send us a report back about the port. There will be no support at your back."
Jane expression heard everything clearly and gave an expression that she understood everything but her mind was panicking at such A mission, it was like a death wish. So many variables, including the number of soldiers which was not even 1/10 of a regiment.
"Are you ready for this mission?"
"Yes, sir. I will surely try my best and achieve good results."
"Good then, get your team ready. You leave as soon you gather them."
Jane gave a nod and left the tent, as she saw it this was her first and maybe her last chance to prove to everyone her true worth.
