Chapter 10 - A Tight situation.

The leaders of the two armies came to a consensus,

"The two armies will merge as one to take on Lynx's forces and capture the heart of the Five Kingdoms."

As two enemy kingdoms had merged to take on one, the relationship between the two wasn't one of equality, and both armies knew it very well.

Britannia was totally in control of the situation; their forces were larger and their boats were better. Even a small sign of offence could end Asphodel's entire army.

The effects were seen among the soldiers as Brittania's soldiers forcefully proceeded to eat Asphodel's rations. Things were getting tense.

While sitting on a chair under a small tent, all alone, Yuuka wondered about the current situation.

"How did they know about us? Who called them here?"

The question was weighing down his mind as he scanned his brain for an answer. It never struck him, but another very significant idea came to his mind.

"Brittania's army..."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

However, things were much worse for Lynx's retreating troops; their position was compromised.

Asphodel's army was one thing, but after the forces of Brittania joined Asphodel, the situation in Lynx got even worse.

The topography of the port was exceptional; the main portion was on a completely flat surface; however, the land right next to it had a good height, which allowed the place to have two watchtowers in the surrounding areas.

The artillery of Brittania was being set up on the land across the port at a significant altitude. Just enough for Britannia's cannons to reach the Lynx camp just ahead of the river.

It took time to set up the mortar, and it was nighttime, so Asphodel and Brittania set up camp.

The river was no longer flowing fast; Lynx's troops saw the opportunity and tried to escape across the river.

But as they started to flee, a guard spotted them; he fired on them, and hearing the shots, everyone woke up and got their guns ready.

"Everyone! Be on your alert and walk out carefully; the enemy might be launching a full-charged assault on us."

In the time they took to mobilise, more than 400 men fled to the other side and started running.

"Everyone, quickly flee towards the other side and save your ass."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The night patrol guard rushes into Yuuka's tent.

"Sir! The enemy is fleeing!"

"Everyone! Get out of your tents and charge towards the enemy." Yuuka gave direct orders to charge the fleeing enemy.

"Yes! Sir."

It was a moonless night; there was no light to see the enemy, and to get insight into their position, they went closer to the bank slowly and carefully, but until they reached the bank, the enemy had already fled.

The Asphodel and allied forces reached the camp and caught hold of a large number of gun supplies, but little to no food or water.

"Why were they out of supplies?"

This caught the commander in a bind; it wasn't that the retreating forces had no food. The cargo at the ports themselves contained very low-quality food, and that too in smaller quantities.

"We ought to cross the river next morning. Order your men to make a work-shift bridge by the next morning."

Edith gave direct orders to Yuuka, and he was enjoying every second of it.

The leaders of Brittania's army ordered them to cross the river during the day by making a small wooden platform. Asphodel

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The night passed away quickly before anyone knew, the soldiers had taken their rest and now were preparing to the makeshift wooden bridge to cross the river.

It would be impossible to carry the heavy supplies for the high number of troops.

Meanwhile, Yuuka had a small meeting with his captain, Levi.

"Sir, I think your problems are getting more severe each second. We need to come up with a different strategy to overcome the enemy."

Levi spoke with full concern on his face, but Yuuka, who was carefully listening to him, wasn't tense at all.

"There is no need to worry, Levi; this is a distressful situation. However, it lines up with my original plan."

"Orginal plan?"

Levi was caught off guard by this new 'original' plan as he was informed by all of the troops that the plan was to take Port Trafalgar and steal their ships and supplies to weaken them.

"That I told you earlier is the first part of the plan, but there is more to it."

These words had stricken hard in Levi's mind that his commander had hidden his plan.

"Before you ask any question, let me say the whole thing."

Levi just nodded instead of his usual formal and respectful reply.

"So, there are multiple inconsistencies here; first of all, the plan of us attacking here was already known to the Lynx kingdom."

Levi was just shocked by this revelation.

"Yes, a spy of ours got captured 2 to 3 days ago, and so the plan was leaked, but it seems like we caught the enemy off guard; the ships were not transported. Also, considering that the idea that the bridge wasn't destroyed by them-"

"There is a traitor among them."

"No, this seems intentional. Look at our overall situation; we are in the most trouble here. Brittania is right beside us, has more forces than us, and can crush us at any moment. So, we have no choice but to move forward and attack while Lynx is at the most advantage in a hidden way; its two biggest enemies are in its territory right now and are marching forward towards its centre."

"But doesn't Brittania have the biggest advantage? Like the biggest force and supreme control over our actions while also attacking their biggest enemy."

"No, it doesn't take long to think about it; currently, we are not two friends trying to beat one enemy. The moment any of us has the chance, we will betray each other. Thus, we are feeling the highest pressure, even more than the Lynx forces."

"So, what are the options?"

"We have no options; we have to comply with the enemy here and keep moving forward. This is in line with my plan to charge the capital with only our army and capture the queen."

"!!!!!" Levi's pupils expanded, and a surge of anger filled his mind.

Their commander was about to manipulate them to do a charge at the enemy with force so low in number that it was no less than a suicidal assault.

"I have nothing to say to you about this; the only thing I can say is that you are my most trusted soldier here."

Levi without a word walked out of the commander's tent this time, he did not salute Yuuka in fact, he just held himself from punching him.

The Captain had lost his trustworthy Commander and the Commander had lost his respectful Captain.

Yuuka had already realised Levi would not work for him but it didn't matter to him.

"I need to get Vincent to do the dirty work."

Yuuka just had to make some changes to his schemes.
