The next day.

"Faster!" Erik was sitting in his sled pulled by three wolves.

"You're too heavy!" Ulf, previously known as Alpha, ran in front, leading the two other wolves.

Behind, Erik scooped a snowball and then launched it at the black beast, signaling insubordination and laziness were not tolerated! Ulf grumbled and accelerated, Snowhite and Grey following his lead.

Erik stopped before reaching his destination, ordered the wolves to wait for him out of sight and walked to the village—his pack wouldn't flee, it was in their nature to obey their alpha, however, if they did…, well, Erik cared little.

Newly erected defensive walls surrounded Lei, the previous wolf attack had probably traumatized them.

'40, perhaps 50 people,' he thought, estimating Lei's population according to the settlement's size. 'Which means it's been around for 10 to 15 years. No, Sieg's experience as a hunter of this region doesn't match this estimation, unless Lei relocated once or twice.'
